  • "This is but one of our many visits to Terra. We had another good experience with the food and service. We are particularly attracted by Chef Rossman's dedication to the concept of 'farm to table.' This time we learned of erra's Sunday Brunch new innovation for customers preparing their own Bloody Marys. We can't wait to try it."

  • "A sub par experience. The first course, was similar to canned chicken spread. It was chalky, gritty and overly smoked salt tasting presented in a tiny glass jar the size a a salt sampler. It had a fog which resembled a dry ice gas. We were told this was the shared portion. However a man seated by himself had the same quantity. $65.00 a pop sampling! The pork belly was the size of a domino. It was this dried out and lacked flavor. The sea bass was a large portion on the other hand but just ok. The pasta ribbons with chorizo/chile was delicious but the presentation was more like hamburger helper. The drinks were being poured also at less than normal servings. We feel we got gouged. Too bad Terra.."

  • "Terra is always a remarkable restaurant, serving dishes that are enjoyable and tasty. When we walk out of the restaurant, we thing we have to come back for another meal. Tonight the salad wedge with bacon bits and dressing were absolutely fantastic. Our entrees were delicious. The service allowed us to enjoy our meal and not feel rushed."

  • "Terra has become one of our favorite restaurants. This time we enjoyed a chocolate cigar in honor of this dessert being voted in the tope 25 desserts in SD. Can't wait to go."

  • "Had the lobster roll which was good, roll was good and fries were also good, however the slaw or salad was terrible, needs to be changed."

  • "As we entered we were greeted by a smiling energetic hostess, who seated us at a cozy table for two. Our server made great suggestions and provided excellent service. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and look forward to our next visit to Terra."

  • "Had the California Bowl for lunch. The veggies in it were amazing. Great blend of flavors."

  • "Terra has been a favorite of ours for several years. The food quality and service are excellent. I noticed that my favorite lobster BLT had very little lobster and that the bread was changed from ciabatta--still good, but not the knockout it used to be. I took a friend for her birthday and we did enjoy our visit."

  • "The food is consistent with Terra in Hillcrest, but the ambiance here is not as nice. The neighborhood is not as attractive and I don't understand the old, rusty tractor displayed out front. The food, though, was very good as usual. They have the best lobster mac and cheese anywhere."

  • "Service and food were great. We had the same wonderful server that we've had previously and he is terrific! He is very attentive and patient!"

  • "We have been eaten dinner at Terra several times, all of which have been for birthdays, but we went this week for the $5 burger week. The service here is always exceptional, very friendly and they check with you often so your not waiting long for the server. The restaurant is small so it can be noisy at times but not too bad, you can still carry on a conversation with your table. This place is great for a special occasion or for just dinner, a little pricey but totally worth it! Quality of the food has always been exceptional!!!"

  • "We all enjoyed the delicious food and especially the deserts! A wonderful neighborhood gem. So nice to have great food & wine (though we brought our own this time) near to home, without having to go downtown or travel far. Food was delicious (if a bit pricey for some of the items) - but all well prepared. We hope to return again soon!"

  • "I was left a little disappointed by this restaurant after reading such a great review in the San Diego Union Tribune. I have special dietary needs and could barely find one thing on the menu to order. Most of what was offered is what I would call "frou frou" food. It's great if you are a foodie with no dietary restrictions, but sorely lacking for someone like me. I will not dine there in the future."

  • "As usual the food was great. The bass special was wonderful, the pate appetizer was amazing. My only criticism was the pot roast was on the salty side. The head chef came out and spoke with us, which I thought was a nice touch. Will definitely go back. I hear their brunch is great."

  • "Terra is always a solid restaurant. Great farm to table food, good service (always solid, but some nights better than others) and amazing drinks. The ambience is nice and relaxed. You can come in wearing jeans or a dress. Both will fit in nicely."

  • "The service was attentive but not hovering. It's a great neighborhood find, and very energetic. The food was wonderful. My pulled short rib pasta was incredibly rich and flavorful. A few bites in I thought that I wouldn't be able to finish it. Ha! I almost licked the plate clean. We will be back!"

  • "We had been wanting try this restaurant for long time. We finally made it and what a disappointment! We waited for over an hour for our dinner. The owner/chef was out and talking to guests, which I thought was very cool. Until he came to our table, he was very condescending! We mentioned to him our reservations were at 6:30 and it was now 7:30 still didn't have dinner. His comment to us, " is that a long time?" Wrong answer! He did comp dessert, but that's ok good customers don't make a lot of noise they just don't come back and we won't be recommended this restaurant!"

  • "I had breakfast here on Sunday. I ordered the breakfast bowl and my friend ordered the All American. Both meals were delicious. And I have enough left overs for dinner ;-)"

  • "We came here to celebrate Valentines Day and a birthday but the poor service ruined our night. We were ignored. No water, no bread, again, we were ignored. Kudos to the chef for yummy food but we won't be coming back here. Other staff should support waiters who are not taking care of their customers. The other waiter was bopping around serving his tables while we sat there being... ignored. This was not a busy night, there were many empty tables."

  • "Jeff is just a great chef. His farm to table concept really works here. A little pricey and a bizarre find in this part of town but definitely worth the detour."

  • "The food was excellent. I had the pot roast and it was very tender and tasty. The tofu was a huge hit and the chicken was moist and tender. What a great find in East. County. The service was top notch and very friendly. We had the chocolate cigar for dessert (yummy). I will definitely be back real soon."

  • "This is definitely a restaurant that has a large group of regulars. The food options change seasonally, so if you go there four times a year, you may have different options each time. The small plates are a combination of healthy foods and comfort foods so will fit almost any taste. The salads are large and fit for sharing and the dressing are freshly made and scrumptious! There were so many small plate, salad and flat bread options that we never ordered a dinner. Like vodka? They infuse there own and are yummy! Tequila, too! They have a large bar so if you plan to just have a few drinks with maybe a few small plates, then that's your spot. Make a reservation or you may not get in, especially on a Friday or Saturday evening."

  • "Tera American Bistro is excellent for dinner, but I prefer lunch. It's very convenient for a businessman with a very busy calendar or for a business meeting with a client. Excellent ambiance for business discussions and the service is superb. I've brought several business associates for lunch."

  • "What a treasure! The salads were amazing and very generous. The produce is so fresh. The wedge salad was outstanding and not to be missed. The short rib with spinach pappardelle was yummy. My son had the top sirloin and said it was the best he'd ever eaten. My husband had the pot roast and his plate was licked clean. Our server, Tori, was wonderful - personable, knowledgeable and not afraid to give an opinion/recommendation when asked which we appreciate."

  • "WOW!!!! The food presentation beautiful, I ate first with my eyes then indulged in the most delicious feast my palate was doing the "happy dance". Service, I wish there were more stars; because outstanding doesn't cut it. Surpasses outstanding, I felt like I was a regular and the server knew me for years. Service felt like a warm hug."

  • "This is about the 6th time my husband and I have dined at Terra. The food is always great..both of us had fish which was done perfectly! We always try something new to us so we had the goat cheese appetizer served with crustini..it was more like spinach dip but also good. We'll be back again for sure:)"

  • "Enjoyed a nice meal out for Restaurant Week. Their current menu is one of the better ones. Especially because it includes their great lobster mac n cheese."

  • "We went to terra American bistro during restaurant mainly because it was close to my friend's house and the menu looked intriguing. The sign out front is misleading because it makes it seem like it may be a tea house or a Japanese infusion restaurant. Inside it is sooo rustic/industrial/new age feel and the food is fantastic! Each dish is very unique and has flavors you wouldn't imagine pairing so nicely. I stuck with the restaurant week menu, but I will definitely be going back to try other items!"

  • "There was nothing wrong with the restaurant. Service was nice, food was fine, but it felt there was something missing."

  • "The food was very nicely done and the wait staff attentive and professional. I thought for the location the prices were high. The portions were small (glad I didn't get a small plate or I would have been very hungry...and I am a light eater). This was after adding a cup of soup...which was delicious...and splitting a crème brulee...which was also delicious. I guess part of my disappointment is I love to gourmet cook, and to spend $50 a head on a meal I could have prepared for $10 and everyone would have been well wined and fed kind of disappoints. But I do like the farm to table approach, and I guess one must assume they will be spending more to get fresh, local and seasonal. Just sticker shock and portion disappointment."

  • "We just left Terra and they were able to single-handedly please a picky 5 year old, a gluten-free vegetarian, a teething 2 year old, one not picky 5-year-old and three meat eaters. Wow! As the GF member of the family, I have to pick where we eat and it's quite a feat finding well-thought-out, well-excecuted and VERY tasty GF, vegetarian food. I love that the menu is organic and local - that's my primary concern. I wish there were more restaurants like Terra. It doesn't seem that difficult to have a well-curated menu, local food and amazing taste and presentation. It's very obvious the chef puts a lot of time and effort into the menu and it shows. Thank you for yet another amazing meal at Terra!"
