  • "Pros: Portion size was better than expected. Presentation delightful. Cooked to my liking the first time. Wine list was sufficient for pairings. Live entertainment. Clean Cozy for two, but no more than a party of 6, cramped if more than that, unless you want the whole facility for work function. Outdoor seating, when available. Cons: Noise level a little high due to life entertainment, but not over whelming. Tad pricey. "

  • "This small restaurant has a remarkably ambitious menu that is even supplemented with daily specials. The wine list is more modest. After multiple visit, I am very impressed by the consistent quality of the food. A test for me is a restaurant's bread (so few know what good bread is): Terasol passes with flying marks. Portions are generous as well, though not excessively so. Do try it out!"

  • "This is a truly lovely and friendly place. Music is excellent and the live jazz on Friday night is treat."

  • "Discovered Terasol for a business lunch between Cleveland Park and Chevy Chase-- most are not open for lunch. What a cozy place; parking was easy. We were offered the front window table--a bright comfy location. Wait staff was attentive, the selections for lunch extensive. I had the Nicoise salad--a very attractive presentation; the tuna was a bit bland--a little rarer than I prefer and forgot to mention. My colleague had the asparagus soup of the day and mussels - 'both were tasty'. I want to return to try other offerings when I'm more focused on food than work related discussions. A special feature is the decor with wonderful pottery for sale and displayed throughout the restaurant-- jewelry too-- the space is also a crafts gallery!"

  • "Don't know how old this place is. Staff are friendly, but our order was botched--and then fixed. Mussels were good. Hanger steak was ordinary. Frites were limp. Crab salat as appetizer was great. The place really does have nice feel, but the menu is a bit limited. Only our second visit, but we will come back. Not very busy for a Sat. nite. Live music was nice. Parking not too hard."

  • "This was our first visit to this restaurant and we weren't disappointed. It was an outstanding experience with amazing food and great service. Can't wait for our next visit to this restaurant."

  • "I wanted to try a French Restaurant I've never been to before. This one exceeded all expectations. I ordered chicken which was unbelievable."

  • "Well prepared meals in neighborhood gem! Excellent service, too. Live music some nights. Truly delicious. Go!"

  • "We dined at Terasol this week with two Francophiles and they were very impressed with the food. They commented that the onion soup, beef bourguignon and salmon appetizer were identical to what they are served in Burgundy (where they live half the year). A nice recommendation. My only complaint was that the white wine was served in huge bubble glasses that were very hard to drink from. We requested different glasses and got them ... cheerfully."

  • "Pleasant neighborhood French bistro with the added amenity of a jazz group playing. Food is good and honest."

  • "It's flavorful and cheesy and not salty. Perfect for a cold night with a glass of wine and some of Terasol's crusty baguette."

  • "In celebrating my birthday with friends, I selected Terasol. I did so primarily for the delicious food, the quiet atmosphere, the great service, and the fact that it is a true neighborhood gem. Once again, Terasol did not disappoint. My friends all remarked that they would like to return and could think of occasions that Terasol would be the perfect dining experience. Those frites are dangerous!"

  • "Terasol is that wonderful place that is always dependable. It is charming and embracing. The menu is interesting; the food is delicious, with generous portions. The waitstaff is attentive and informative. The owners make you feel welcomed and special. Great for a casual or festive occasion. A delight for friends from out of town, or out of the neighborhood. The weekend music of light or latin jazz, or guitar combo, is extraordinary."

  • "Wonderful food, ambiance, and all around great neighborhood find. Charming, good service, excellent food, and reasonable prices. A real gem."

  • "Very pleasant traditional French bistro food. Nice addition are the local crafts for sale ranging from ceramics to paintings and lithographs and jewelry. Bouillabaise was on special and was excellent sized portion - could have been more flavorful - same true of the chicken stew. Labeled as Blanquette de Volaille but in my experience that dish would have mushrooms and some cream. This had neither. This is nice neighborhood place but not worth if you are not in the area."

  • "The food was wonderful and the staff very pleasant and efficient. Every time you drank water your glass was re-filled. We enjoyed the musicians. The bread was outstanding."

  • "Visited Terasol on a quiet weekday night when the restaurant had only a handful of customers. Wait staff were extremely attentive. I had rated the food very good in earlier (weekend) visits, but was slightly disappointed in food quality during this visit. The Beef Bourguignon, a house specialty, was uninspired - no delicacy in the spices - not much more than a basic beef stew. The meat in my companion's lamb dish was excellent, perfectly cooked, but covered with a brown sauce that added little. The French onion soup lacked character. A high point: 50% off special on bottles of wine. Overall, the quiet atmosphere at Terasol was enjoyable, but our sense was that on this particular night, the "A" team in the kitchen was not working."

  • "This small French café is a gem. Lovely, really takes you to Paris even down to the white tablecloths. My only disappointment was we went to brunch and they ran out of their wonderful croissants."

  • "This was our second time at Tersaol. We went on the early side as we had theatre tickets. The food was fine though the soup was not quite hot enough. The service was prompt and friendly. The live music was soft and nice. Only odd thing was the faint smell of gas in the restaurant when we first entered."

  • "How did I not know about this place earlier? A very nice restaurant in a lovely, comfortable space, with simple bistro fare prepared quite nicely. The staff were all very attentive, and we enjoyed looking at the artwork and gifts in the front part of the restaurant. All in all, a welcome surprise and a nice evening out."

  • "After an event at Politics & Prose, we were fortunate to get a quick reservation at Terasol. The food was delicious and the service both friendly and helpful. All in all, a very unexpected and enjoyable evening."

  • "We live in Terasol's Chevy Chase, DC neighborhood and were thrilled when, somewhat over a year ago, they had a revival, the place was jammed at times, the food excellent, prices very fair. Recently, however, at least our food choices were very average. The chicken stew had no distinctive taste, was served in a very hot, small pot so that it was hard to maneuver the bones which we were given nowhere else to place. It was, consequently, rather hard to eat and not particularly meaty or tasty anyhow. My wife's bouillabaisse was slightly better, and a very generous portion, good but in no way special. Service good, atmosphere pleasant, musicians playing pleasant, soft jazzy tunes well. Will try Terasol at least once more and hope."

  • "Humble restaurant in Cleveland Park is a well kept secret. The food is much better than many comparable French bistros. The onion soup is outstanding, and the rack of lamb was superb."

  • "A charming boutique with a Provincal taste in artifacts and food --accompanied by west coast 70's jazz"

  • "Food was great (not fantastic, but definitely worth coming back if I'm in the neighborhood). Restaurant itself had a bit of a confused aesthetic; cluttered the front with items for sale, more open in the back with the tables and a small bar, but I found myself enjoying it after initially being a bit wary. Ordered the croque monsieur which was very good and my boyfriend had the quiche roquefort which was pretty good as well. Coffee was served in a nice french press and was better than the usual breakfast coffee. Nutella Crepe for dessert was delicious."

  • "Terasol is a delightful and artistic neighborhood gem serving delicious French food. While it's elegant it is not, thankfully, pretentious. The live weekend jazz, small pottery and craft gallery, and the warm and attentive service make this an extra special place to take your friends and family. You will leave happy."

  • "After raving about this little gem we were disappointed with our food and the time it took to get it to us (over an hour.) The place was unusually busy for lunch so we will give it another try. I think it is much better at dinner time."

  • "Who knew that the French did brunch? Well, Terasol does it and with great skill for our party of 8. Kept the 2-year old occupied and provided a variety of options for the adventurous and not-so-adventurous. Very attentive service and were ready for us at the 10AM opening that the Sunday early-risers needed for their trip south."

  • "I must have driven past this place hundreds of times and never noticed it. But we ended up eating there last saturday night and were so surprised at the great food, and the live music. We wished the music played later than 9 pm which was early to quit on a saturday night but we would definitely come back. The service was also great."

  • "Arriving in early evening, found restaurant very active (we had made reservations and definitely needed them) with an inobtrusive jazz trio playing in the back, and a number of large parties as well as couples and small groups filling the medium sized restaurant area. . Service was quick and efficient. Wine was excellent and not too expensive -- although only about three of the 15 or so white wine selections were available by the glass. We intended to only come for drinks, but decided to have some light fare -- excellent Onion Soup, which seemed to be a favorite at many tables, and a large reasonably priced cheese plate, which we couldn't finish. Accompanying baguette was very good and replentished as necessary."

  • "A lovely French-oriented menu, and lots of interesting crafts to look at and buy, if interested. The chef was very accommodating about splitting plates (we wanted to share entrees) in the kitchen so we didn't have to mess with them. Some places won't do this. The pasta was cooked al dente. The lobster in the lobster ravioli, however, was hard to find. Whatever was in it was tasty, however. I don't think I'd order it again."

  • "We took out of town friends here on a Saturday night. As usual, we had a great meal -- there is a lot of variety on the menu and quite a few interesting specials."

  • "Basic French cuisine. I especially enjoyed the salad.. Good for a lunch or a light, informal dinner. We ate early and by the time we left, noise level was becoming extreme, what with conversations bouncing between the cement floors and metal ceilings and live music playing in the background."

  • "There were 2 of us and restaurant quiet as it was fairly early and mid-week. We appreciated the quiet. We both had the beet appetizer salad and we split a pasta entree, which was one of the specials that evening -- fettuccine with scallops in a vodka sauce. Both were very good. Service was friendly and attentive. Nice warm bread with offers of refills."

  • "Very cute indoor space - outdoor seating available in milder weather. I like the simplicity of it all. Quality French food without a stuffy atmosphere. I've eaten here 3 times already and I will keep going back. The Salmon with Risotto was delicious and the Sauteed shrimp over black-squid-ink pasta were a treat."

  • "all of our dishes were too salty. I had rack of lamb that was tough and tasteless. Each piece was very thin. We had creme carmel for dessert it was gray and tasteless. Up until now we loved this restaurant. It was an entirely different experience with the food this time. Even though other parts of the restaurant rating were ok, the food was so horrible i must give an overall rating as poor."

  • "It was a rainy Friday evening and we were about 25 min. late for our reservation. Everyone was very nice and understanding on the phone and the same when we arrived. We have been to Terasol many times but our friends had not. Out waitress had a lot of personality and was very helpful along with the staff. The wine list was very reasonable and the food was wonderful! We enjoyed the music as well! We were having such a nice time that we ordered a second bottle of wine instead of dessert. So we probably overstayed our welcome but the waitress assured us that we had not. Our friends were very happy with their new find and we all left talking about what we would eat on the next visit to Terasol! A fun night was had by all!!!"
