My friend really didn't enjoy the sangria at all and I thought the drinks were a bit overpriced for what they were. Also, when we made the reservation we mentioned that we were celebrating my 30th birthday. The restaurant did nothing for the occasion, which I wouldn't have minded had they not had a big song & dance for the table next to us who was celebrating a birthday. However the specials offer very desire able and tempting dishes although a bit pricey. The langoustinos were spectacular in size and tenderness. My wife's surf and turf was a perfect complement of precisely cooked fillet with the largest shrimp I have ever seen. But the hit of the evening was our most entertaining waiter who delivered and served 2 tables worth of drinks from a tray on his head never needing to touch the tray with his hands. It is an upscale Mexican restaurant with a fabulous décor reminiscent of traditional Mexico with dark wood and beautiful murals. The food and service were excellent! Not your average tex-mex - don't come here looking for tacos and enchiladas! Everything is fresh and well made. Margaritas are suitably strong. Only downer was the chocolate mousse cake was not fully thawed - why was it frozen in the first place?5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food, Ambience and ServiceI took my wife there for her birthday dinner and we were very happy. The food is great. We each got the Molcajete and both the chicken and beef versions were superb. We also had a guacamole appetizer that was outstanding as well. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and expertly prepared. My wife had some sort of fruity drink, which she loved and I was pleasantly surprised to find a selection from a small PA craft brewery (Old Forge) on tap.
Our waiter, Juan was personable and attentive and was never too busy to spend a minute or two answering one of our questions. People say it's dark. The back room certainly is! For us it was cool. The Cerdo Con Crepa is a hearty pork tenderloin dish with a fantastic presentation. The Molcajetes is a beef tenderloin served in a lava rock bowl that remains hot throughout the evening. Both dishes are generously proportioned and flavorfully spicy. Our server that night, Manuel, is as personable as he is informative; always there when needed, but never hovering. The restaurant makes efficient use of its space.
