Diner Reviews
  • "We were a party of four for the Sunday dinner and the food was fantastic. Couldn't have been happier. The lobster appetizer with kale was one of the best dishes I've ever had. The service was friendly, professional and very knowledgable."

  • "Love Ten Tables in JP, decided to try TT in Cambridge. Was wonderful. Absolutely fit for Foodies, the atmosphere makes it perfect for a quiet dinner. Food was almost perfect; I dropped one star because both entrees (steak - and esp. the accompanying fries & the cavatelli) were significantly over-salted (this being reviewed by a salt-lover). Since we didn't experience this at the JP location, I'm assuming it's Chef's preference, everything was cooked to perfection, but again, for us...a bit overly seasoned. Will absolutely be returning, we will just asked for half the amount of salt - problem solved."

  • "Fabulous in every respect. The food in exceptional, interesting, excellent! We had great service - even putting up with our party being quite late. A very special place."

  • "The chef's and staff's attention to detail was clearly evident. I had inquired a day in advance regarding a gluten-free tasting menu. They remembered our conversation and prepared a wonderful progression flavors. A hint of basil was the common thread from one course to the next. The flavors were excellent, the knife cuts precise and consistent, the presentation artful."

  • "The "surprise" vegetarian tasting menu had good reviews online, but for us it failed to live up to its billing and was frankly quite mediocre. The first and second courses were a single vegetable with some sauce (a zucchini and a carrot) respectively, and while the 3rd course (a small helping of risotto) was quite good, the dessert wasn't even really dessert, being just a slab of goat cheese with some jam - a total of 3 of 4 courses had goat cheese! Overall we were still unsatisfied, maybe even a bit hungry when we left. The table placement also wasn't great, a couple of tables were squeezed into the hallway with constant back and forth of traffic to get plates/spoons from a cupboard."

  • "Food was great, wine (the day's special) was excellent, and server was very good and very gracious about an error in the order. Only complaints are a high level of noise and excessive air conditioning."

  • "We were so pleased with the entire experience--From getting one of the 4 parking spots out front to the warm and knowledgeable service of our waitress. We went with the Chef's menu ($48 so reasonable) which turned out to be delicious, from the amuse-Bouche to the pair of desserts. (The Thai basil ice cream with the chocolate cake was awesome). Since we did not know what we would be eating, we asked if wines could be paired with each of the 4 courses. They were generous servings and perfectly matched. The duck arrived a bit too rare but was happily taken back formore cooking and returned upon a replenished bed of succotash which was fabulous. We enjoyed the whole experience and look forward to returning soon."

  • "Ten Tables remains in the cellar of an apt. building on Craigie Street near the former Radcliffe Quad on Garden Street. Menu, food, and service still superb, as is wine list, though one can hardly see it. I'd recommend brighter lights on each table, since overall lighting is very dim. Parking is also a problem, unless you arrive before 6 PM and snag one of 4 spaces allotted to Ten Tables in the apt. parking lot. Craigie St. parking is safe on Sat. and Sunday, however."

  • "I enjoyed my appetizer and entree very much. It was a salad and a wonderfully cooked chicken dish. The noise was a little much but the service was impeccable."

  • "This review refers to the wine-dinner featuring Italian wines, held July 16, 2014. This was our first visit to the Cambridge location; we have eaten at the Jamaica Plain location several times and consider it to be one of the best restaurants in Boston. Ten Tables Cambridge is the equal of Ten Tables JP. The food is great; fairly adventurous without being weird. The wine pairings are just brilliant, with wines that are less-known but that deserve to be far better-known. Ten Tables in general gives good value; the wine dinners are especially good values because the fixed price includes four glasses of wine. Ambience is not spectacular but it is certainly attractive, and the service was friendly and attentive but not intrusive. We'll be back!"

  • "Always a wonderful and memorable dinner experience. The staff, waitresses (especially Cassie!) and the chef are awesome. The Francis Tannahill Hermit Pinot is the best wine, we have it every time."

  • "Knowing I'm eating GMO free pasture raised meats and chemical free produce is really important to me. I was happy to find this place as there don't seem to be many conscientious dining options near Cambridge. I wanted to love this place, but most of what both me and my finance had was pretty mediocre. Thankfully we came on a Sunday for the $38 prefix, because we would have been pretty unhappy to pay more for the food. Overall I give it a 4 because it WAS good quality food, it's gluten-free friendly (most days their fryer is GF!!! fries! yes.) and although I wasn't wowed by the food, I walked out of there without a stomach ache. Big plus. I'll probably return for the burger with fries at some point. Maybe they were having a bad night."

  • "Its in the residential area and doesn't look like there would be much happening inside. But once you enter, the atmosphere changes to a warm, cozy, elegant restaurant with romantic ambiance and amazing service! Not for vegetarians and not many choices on menu but everything that came from kitchen was yum. My chicken entree melted in mouth and had great variety of flavors to it. Chocolate tangerine dessert was very unique and tasted so good! A must try!"

  • "Took our adult, foodie kids here for a celebratory dinner. Great night, appropriately nonintrusive but attentive service, very nice wine. We all had the chef's tasting menu. One course, a medallion of monkfish paired with beet greens and green tomatoes, was sublime; the rest was good but not particularly special. Would go again some day and order off the menu to give it a second try."

  • "Really, really, really enjoyed our visit. The food was great, and loved the tasting courses they put together. Really listened to what we wanted and made it for a really special evening."

  • "The place that Ten Tables is located in Cambridge is way off the beaten track, and wonderful. It feels like a neighborhood secret and it has been just the ticket for many special occasions throughout the years. The latest restaurant to be there, Ten Tables is excellent, and the staff is terrific. We are so glad Ten Tables is there!"

  • "Went here for a birthday dinner and were glad we did. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The food was delicious and creative. The sweet potato tortellini was ridiculously good. A nice wine list and tasty beer selection too. For a small place it didn't feel cramped."

  • "Ten Tables is hard to find but worth it. We had the tasting menu and it was awesome. Completely different from the regular menu so it didn't feel like a retread. Service was great. Highly recommended."

  • "Needs a better wine list. The food was pretty good but never outstanding. I couldn't help but think that a great glass of wine would have improved the offered exponentially."

  • "My husband and I have been fans of Ten Tables JP for a very long time but recently have come to love the Cambridge location. The food was fresh and inventive. We shared the thinly sliced tongue appetizer which had tiny bits of apples and plums making it a perfect summer starter. For dinner he had halibut with turnips, sweet potato tortellini, and turnip green coulis and I had the chicken breast with fingerling potatoes and salt roasted radishes in a brown butter tarragon vinaigrette. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and we shared back and forth. The portions are generous. For dessert, the honey-whole grain cake with grapefruit goat's milk frozen yogurt and caramel had a wonderful flavor and was actually healthy! Incredible!!"

  • "I read the reviews for Ten Tables and decided what to order based on the reviews. I was happy with my choices, unfortunately my husband didn't pay attention and ordered the item most panned by the reviewers. He was very unhappy with his meal."

  • "This was our first time dining at TT Cambridge. The food ordered from their newly updated menu was excellent as prepared seasoned and presented. The service was also high caliper. That combination made for a delightful evening out for us. We will definitely be back soon to sample more of their offerings."

  • "Well, we have heard so much about 10 table-Cambridge and JP form my daughter and her husband who are frequent patrons. This was a special occasion for us, as we were staying in BOSTON for the weekend. We arrived and our table was waiting-back room tucked away in the corner-good for privacy, however the deuce next to us were very loud, swearing-and that put a damper on things, until they left. Our food was superb-hanger steak and homemade pasta. The waitress was very matter of factly-not that personal, and just going through the motions-too much lag time between visits-water not being re-filled, how was everything. It took a good 15 minutes to get the check. Will visit the JP one . Again, the food was great!"

  • "Go here if you're looking for a "foodie" experience and romantic ambience. The location is strange, but we were able to get one of their parking spots right in front on a Friday night. I didn't like that you have to leave a credit card number for reservations for parties of 4, especially since it was dead when we arrived. They only have beer and wine. I had a "Los chicas" which was delicious, but I hated paying $12 a drink served in a tiny glass. It was gone in 3 sips. The food portions are tiny too. The burger was particularly good, and so was the service. Expensive, not a value in any way, but romantic. I wouldn't go out of my way to go again though."

  • "We went in with no expectations and were pleasantly surprised. The service was attentive but relaxed and the pace just right. The food was perfectly prepared but what set it apart was the unusual pairing of ingredients. This made the experience interesting. We will be coming back."

  • "I took my family to the usually reliable Ten Tables for a graduation dinner. I have eaten there 3-4 times in the past and the food is good to quite good. On this particular evening, we ask about wine and our waitress was completely unfamiliar with the wines on the list and only could describe two wines-one she said she would not recommend. She was offended when we did not seem interested in her suggestions. She then appeared angry and refused to serve us without IDs! We left and had an almost ruined evening saved by an amazing dinner at Rialto. This may be only one experience, but I think Ten Tables maybe needs to improve."

  • "this is not a white-tablecloth place as photo shows. ambiance is casual /dingy. food & service mediocre and not in line with prices. "
    Dined on 6/6/2014
  • "This was a graduation dinner with our closest extended family members; we're all foodies who cook and eat out a lot -including the high school graduate. The food was in some cases undercooked and in most cases, underspiced. We had to send back and entree with potatoes that defied anyone's definition of "done"...hard to believe that any decent chef would let these go out to be served. In general things were bland. It all made a good appearance on the plate, but had no zip on the palate. A pate appetizer was rock solid, unspreadable, and so cold that it had no taste. 10 Tables = a 1 or 2. "

  • "We love to return to Ten Tables for special occasions! The food is always the first reason we pick this gem. Every item is delicious, carefully paired with fresh ingredients and beautifully plated. The wait staff is professional and very knowledgeable about the items on the menu and the wine list. Everything is perfect! "

  • "This was the second time I've dined at Ten Tables and I've been ecstatic with my meal on both occasions. I had Nantucket scallops and the juicy sweetness was perfectly complemented by the sharpness of the cauliflower & walnut bagna cauda. My companion had pork loin whose robust flavor jostled for space on the tongue with charred rabe, pickled chilies and adobo sauce. Wonderful. The atmosphere is intimate, but avoids being cramped, though a trip to loo requires a guide"

  • "I seek out farm to table restaurants. I had read good reviews about Ten Tables. At the new Cambridge restaurant, they were just getting up to speed and still smoothing out the bumps. Even with the sketchy service, which I imagine would improve once they are up to speed, I wasn't impressed with the food, especially for the price. It is also out of the way as we going to the theatre in Harvard Square. It didn't help that it was a rainy evening. There are good restaurant in Harvard Square and I won't bother going back to see if its improved."

  • "Prix fixe on Sunday is a good idea but choices were underwhelming (pasta? steak? and some no longer available anyway at 7.30pm). Having to order desserts with the meal was unpleasant (especially for such mediocre chilled desserts). Wine list prices pushing it too far + serving a Bordeaux 08 listed as an 09 on the wine list is either (1) knowingly misleading or (2) Sheer incompetence, either way, not good. Had to ask twice for wine list to be checked but was charged full price on the check (not smart). Overall, Ten Tables Cambridge offers poor value, mediocre service and less than average food. Pass your way. Book somewhere else. I for sure will never go back. "
