Diner Reviews
  • "I guess you think when you are doing one of those fixe pris menus that they chef will push the envelope in taste and flavor. Food was fine (the stuffed figs were the best of the night) but none of it rock the price."

  • "Wonderful food in a calm, peaceful atmosphere. I especially appreciate the great help I get with food allergen avoidance."

  • "If you are going to a venue at Seattle Center (Opera House, Key Arena, etc), then this is a great place to dine. The best dishes were the crab cake appetizer and halibut for dinner. We tried the dessert sampler, which had three delicious desserts, but the best dessert was the chocolate torte. Service was excellent."

  • "Very impressed with the wines offered and were able to order a rare find that is one of our favorites. The green salad was lovely with spiced pecans, grapefruit, stilton cheese. Ordered the halibut cheek special and while the halibut was cooked perfectly, the entire dish was very bland. No seasoning on the fish, the lemon buerre blanc had not a hit of lemon, even the brussel sprouts were flavorless. Adding salt helped, but I rarely need to salt my food and don't think you should in a restaurant. I was craving citrus on this dish, which could be found in the few artichoke heart leaves that were on the plate. Nice service, great salad and wine, but I think I will skip dinner next time and just have snacks at the bar."

  • "We had a very nice experience here, with excellent food and friendly and attentive service. The noise level was fine, despite a busy evening, and depends on where you sit."

  • "My wife and I selected Ten Mercer on recommendation of a friend.. We had a very relaxing dinner. I had the grilled halibut. It was superb. My wife ordered the Mac and Cheese. She enjoyed it. We ordered a 2009 California Chardonnay and it was excellent. All in all, I would highly recommend Ten Mercer."

  • "We've chosen Ten Mercer several times for pre-theatre dining, and it always meets or exceeds our high expectations. Our server was excellent, the food and wine were outstanding, and the atmosphere was lively. Our server recommended the perfect wine pairings for our menu choices, e.g., a big red blend to go with the petite tenderloin entree. Great experience all around - we will return."

  • "Went for Dine Around, special menu was decent. Lamb was a little overlooked even they they said it was med rare. Otherwise generally delicious. Dessert profiteroles were very good but not magical. Friend's chicken dish was awesome."

  • "I was hoping to be dazzled by this restaurant, which came highly reviewed. The food was average, and the service similar. It certainly did not justify the price. The inside is immaculate and lovely, but the rest of the evening didn't match our first impression."

  • "We came here for Dine Around Seattle because the menu options looked spectacular. We were very disappointed with the food and even though the service was friendly, it was too slow (perhaps understaffed). Appetizers: The stuffed eggplant was too salty and the lobster bisque was gritty. Entrees: The lobster risotto was pretty good, but didn't blow me away either. My date ordered the clam linguine and the clams and prosciutto were overcooked and the linguine had no flavor at all. Dessert: We got the chocolate cake and the cream puffs to go because at this point we had been there for over two hours. The chocolate cake was way too chocolaty and not good at all. The cream puffs were just cream puffs with peanut butter (nothing special)."

  • "We visited ten mercer for Dine Around Seattle. The lobster bisque was delicious. The rollotini was mediocre. Would be better if salt and pepper were available. The caipirinha was delicious, but the Prosecco Fizz was so-so. We added a Wild Greens salad to our order, and it was interesting and tasty, but overdressed. For main dishes, we had the house smoked pork tenderloin with spaetzle, and the Steelhead served with garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus, and a lemon beurre blanc. The steelhead was very good but a tad overdone. The pork tenderloin was not smoked - it was BURNED. DO NOT ORDER THIS (unless you like chewing on charcoal). The spaetzle was not chewy - it was crunchy. For dessert, we had the torten. Rich and delicious."

  • "The food was to die for, really exceptional. Five of us went, our foodie group, to try a new restaurant for the Dine Around Seattle event. Everyone had a fantastic meal & a great experience after being nicely guided by our exceptional waitress. We had a lady along that owns a cooking school, & she was just as thrilled as I was. I had the Lobster Bisque, the Steelhead stuffed w. lobster in an Assagio Beurre Blanc, & a magnificent Molten chocolate torte w. a carmelized basket over the top. The night before I had driven all the way to Bainbridge to a newer restaurant, & was not as thrilled w. the meal. Ten Mercer ROCKS! We will all be back again. By the way, I never email in reviews, etc. This one was just too good!"

  • "We decided on the Dine Around Seattle menu. The appetizer and dessert were great. The entree was overly acidic and the waitress kindly brought it back and had the chef fix it. I had never sent any food back to the kitchen before and was waiting for the waitress to roll her eyes, but that never happened. She was excellent. The restaurant had an inviting, warm and unique ambiance, with a loft for additional seating."

  • "Came a on a weekday, so I'm not quite sure how it would be on a weekend, or during a performance night at the Seattle Center. The service staff was friendly and attentive (my bf basically drank a gallon of water, and the server was alway there to fill up his glass!) Great flavors from the smoked pork tenderloin, herb pan fried spaetzle, to the buttery polenta. It was nice to have a side that was not potatoes or some puree' gastrique (why does it look like baby food??!). Definitely this is where the mature part of the neighborhood come to have a drink which I enjoyed, and Im in my mid-twenties! Such a refreshing place to eat, drink and talk without having to shout over the loud music/ambience."

  • "I go here often before events at the Seattle Center. The food is consistently good, and, compared to many other comparable restaurants, fairly priced. The staff is attentive, and makes sure food and drinks arrive promptly without leaving us feeling rushed. And Brian, the owner, always makes us feel like a special guest in his home. Will definitely go back."

  • "We are regulars at this reliably excellent spot. This excursion, however, was the best ever. The grilled steelhead and the swordfish wrapped in prosciutto were among the best entrees we've had anywhere in the city. Service, as ever, was prompt and friendly. Keep it up!"

  • "The food is always up to a very high standard, the service is attentive without being intrusive, the wine selection appropriate for the menu and reasonably priced; in short, Ten Mercer is always reliable and always an excellent choice. There's nothing in the neighborhood that comes close."

  • "This restaurant has a lovely, "special evening with friends" feel to it . The bar is an extremely nice place to either meet a friend or dine alone. The ingredients in my meal were, as always, of high quality. Unfortunately, the dishes they were used to create were unbelievably bland and/or disappointing. This was not my experience in the past. The trout with sundried tomatoes was excellent and the flavored butter for the bread was nice, but the eggplant appetizer, the mound of mashed potatoes, and the 4 pieces of asparagus added nothing to the meal. The vanilla bean custard was just okay. I will probably return because of the location, service, and ambiance but I won't be rushing back for the memorable food like I have in the past."

  • "Food was very good especially the smoked pork loin. Perfectly cooked with a stronger than usual smoked taste. My companion found it was slightly overpowered; I liked it. The rolled eggplant appetizer was good but the sauce was overpowered by the thick tomato paste taste and texture. This item calls for a lighter tomato sauce. Companion's lobster risotto was nicely prepared with visible pieces of lobster. The restaurant was not full so service was prompt and efficient. But on nights when it was crowded service was still excellent."

  • "Great restaurant for pre or post theatre crowd. Server even offered that we come back after the show for desserts as we were too close to show time. Closing time is midnight."

  • "This was our first time at !0 Mercer. We will be back. The food was delicious and the staff attentive. It is small and quite nice and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. I have food allergies and they were more than happy to help me find food I could eat or to cook something for me."

  • "The first time we went to 10 Mercer, we were walk-ins on a busy night and lucked out with a table without waiting. After the second visit, we're thinking our experience was skewed by luck. Walked right in and realized we did not need a reservation this time. Quick service and super attentive. The main drawback this time around was the crispy food delivered to us. Everything was charred greater than it should be...steak was medium rare on the inside, but burnt on the outside. The spaetzle was also crispier than it should have been. Hoping this was just an off night for the chefs as the food itself was fantastic the first time."

  • "Booked to dine here at 7.30 on a Saturday night, arrived to an empty restaurant, despite which when the next set of people arrived they were seated right next to us and were pretty noisy. Had boar ribs and salad to start, ribs were ok , nothing special to say about the salad. Both had steak for main, quality of meat poor, gluten free option was tasteless and dry. Even the wine wasn't up to much for the price (even given that wine in the US is madly expensive). Reception called us a cab that never arrived and in the end we had to just hail one in the street. Wouldn't bother with this place again."

  • "Ten Mercer had a great romantic ambiance. It was perfect to celebrate our anniversary. They had a great wine list and our food for the most part was delicious. My hubby had the New York steak which was delicious. I ordered the clam linguine it didn't have much flavor which was a little disappointing. The service was great! We'll be back I will simply try a different dish."

  • "Ten Mercer remains our top choice for dining in lower Queen Anne. The menu is a good balance of recurring favorites and interesting new additions and specials. Service is consistently top notch, attentive without being intrusive. Wine choices are wide-ranging and recommendations never fail to hit the mark. Whether large or small (our party sizes have ranged from 2 to 12), our group never fails to receive the same high level of fine service and great food."

  • "Ten Mercer is one of our absolute favorites for a top-quality pre-theater or pre-concert dinner near the Seattle Center. The menu offers a wide range of bistro-style options, from steak (and a delicious steak salad!) to one of the best roasted Washington chicken in town to fresh & inventively-prepared fish to pork tenderloin, pasta and a burger. Each is extremely well-prepared and served by a warm, friendly waitperson who is never intrusive but works to ALWAYS get us out the door in time for the short walk to our evening event. The wine list-- complemented by a full bar and friendly bar scene-- is well-curated by owner/manager Brian Curry, who is a consistent, active, hands-on presence in this very well-run and stylish go-to place. Bravo!"

  • "My wife and I went to ten mercer for Valentine's dinner this year and what an amazing night! Their food and service are absolutely top notch. We started with cocktails, the freshest oysters on the half shell, and their unbelievable lobster bisque. Since that night, my wife has been raving about the exquisitely braised lamb shank. I had the NY, sprinkled with Stilton cheese and grilled to perfection! All combined perfectly with a bottle of J.Lohr's finest Cuvee' Pom. Thank you for a wonderful evening!"

  • "We popped along for a last-minute reservation last week and we were really happy to have discovered another treasure in our neighbourhood. The waitress was helpful about the winelist and made some good recommendations. We shared the wild boar ribs which were excellent and our waitress suggested we substitute the potato cakes for the fries, which were good. I had the swordfish which was a little overcooked and dry. I couldn't be bothered sending it back as I wanted to eat with my boyfriend and it wasn't that bad. He had the wrapped steak which was quite possibly the best steak I've had. It was perfect. We shared dessert which was also great but totally unnecessary by then! All in all, we had a great experience and we'll be back."

  • "We often stop by before a play at Seattle Center. It's always tasty; the service is good; and we're always finished with our meal in plenty of time to make the show. Manager Brian is often there is greet us and make us feel welcome!! This time I had wild boar ribs, a new item on the menu, and seared Brussels sprouts; my dining partner had his usual - flat iron steak salad. Both were delicious."
