Just spent my 33rd wedding anniversary there during restaurant week and had a fantastic meal. They served three courses, we had the wine pairings (after a great cocktail and the terrific fries and breads), and everything was first-rate for a great fixed price. Serving was meticulous, the place is not real loud or dark, never feel rushed (courses come out timed very well - get to finish a course before the next comes, unlike lots of places, and the food was cooked to perfection and nice and hot). Tellers is my new favorite. And the music was pretty awesome! Not your everyday generic background noise. Would have liked better seating than upstairs but I think they consider the upstairs to be special. The vineyard featured that night was Bedell Cellars from Cutchogue Long Island. One of Long Islands best wine makers. My wife and I were engaged there and it was beautiful. Anyway the food here at Tellers is amazing. No doubt the best steakhouse on long island. Service was out of this world. Luis was our server and he was phenomenal. We've had Luis before and we will no doubt request him every time we go. We (our party of four) tried three of them, all were delicious. My son had the ribeye and could not finish it. The grilled asparagus as well as the au gratin potatoes were to die for. Wonderful atmosphere, great service, and fabulous food. It would have been helpful to know in advance how large the side dishes were, but now we have lots of leftovers. I expected much better for the prices. My wife's filet was good. My $65 ribeye was just ok. Scalloped potatoes were dry. Spinach and sprouts were very good. Dessert crem brûlée was cold and also a little dry. But again the table service was excellent. The filet and skirt steaks that we ordered were delicious and the large portioned sides were equally good (we had the sauteed spinach and sweet potato brulee -- although the sweet potato brulee did not need as much of the marshmallow topping as they included -- it was sweet enough on its own). The staff was friendly and our waiter in particular was extremely helpful and personable. The extensive wine list was impressive and we very much enjoyed our selection. I highly recommend Teller's, as I think it's way more than a special occasion type of restaurant. My only issue was the acoustics in the restaurant and the proximity of the tables to one another on the main floor. My husband ordered from the Priced Fixed Menu (lobster bisque, strip steak, bread pudding), with wine pairings for $50-- the meal was excellent! When he didn't like the first wine pairing, Tellers gladly substituted another wine that he liked. I ordered the shrimp cocktail(the 3 shrimp are VERY large and expertly prepared), skirt steak (best I've ever had) and the Sweet Potato Brulee (which is so creamy and delicious, it could almost be served as a dessert) as a side. The service was attentive and unhurried. Took over 10 minutes to get a drink. It was so poor that waiters walking by serving bar area tables stopped twice and commented on the fact that we still had not been served. A manager then appeared behind the bar and asked if we needed something. She took the order and then walked away and we still didn't get served. Once we were served, the bartender then became very personable. Our waiter Javier mentioned that they ran out of Merlot which my wife ordered. What happened next is outstanding. He went to the establishment next store and brought my wife her glass of Merlot. I can't say enough about that. Noise level was moderate, but not to loud to have a nice conversation. We ordered steak and fish - my steak was warm (not hot) and his fish was overcooked. It may have been an off night given the wonderful meal we had the first time we tried Tellers.
