TEI-ANWe were extremely early andWe were extremely early and expected to have to hang out at the bar for a while but they worked us in within 30 minutes. The food was amazing and we did the chef's tasting menu which I highly recommend for a first timer to the restaurant. The food was truly some of the best I have had this side of Japan and the soba noodles were a combination that a westerner or Asian would appreciate. We will definitely be back.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a pleasureOne of our favorites. Soba noodles are fabulous. Great selection of High end Japanese food beautifully presented.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSublimeTei an is everything you could want for a date night, to impress clients/colleagues, or to grab a bite with friends. Unpretentious and refined, the atmosphere, food, and service are nothing short of sublime. We started with house made Japanese pickles and the seasonal beer and sangria. The pickles were a light, crisp and refreshing introduction. The Japanese barley and lemon beer was similar to a Hefewiesen and the sangria was fruity without being cloyingly sweet. Next we had a seafood pancake - which was shaped like a Spanish omelette but as light as a souffle. It was devine! For main courses, we had curry udon and the cold soba sampler. The homemade noodles and sauces are amazing. Cant recommend highly enough.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMTei-An is nice destination for luncLunch in the art district did not disappoint. Very good food but a little pricey lunch. Great for business though.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMCould not have been betterIt was our first time at the restaurant and had read reviews but still weren't sure what to expect. Our waitress was very helpful when we asked about the menu choices. She was also knowledgeable about the sake and wine list and helped us make selections. We wanted a taste of everything on the menu so we decided on the Omakase tasting and we could not have made a better choice. We cannot wait to go back.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMSevice is different not badThe restaurant has great ambiance and our waitress was very knowledgeable but not the typical effusive gregarious type of wait staff I typically associate with good service. Loved that she didn't just know the food but had an opinion about it. everyone was a bit cool and collected and that was bit off putting at first but by the end of the meal we sort of Got it and could see this was really part of what makes this place a little unique and adds to the experience. Food was outstanding and really special.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMTook my wife here for ourTook my wife here for our 21st anniversary. When making the reservation through Open Table I mentioned this was why we were dining there. The hostess and waitress both wished us happy anniversary upon greeting us - nice attention to detail. We're don't eat a lot of Japanese food, but the waitress was very helpful finding excellent selections for us. Best grilled salmon I've ever had! Don't forget the soba noodles when you go.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMJapanese TapasExcellent. Food authentic. Varied menu. Presentation good. Sashimi was fresh and sweet. Cannot recommend enough.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMEndorsed by a SanseiTei-An is the most authentic Japanese restaurant in Dallas. Can't find the menu online? No worries - just order the omakase ($50/$80). Reminiscent of kaiseki in Kyoto. Don't miss the rooftop terrace for an after-dinner drink amid great views. Attentive and knowledgeable service. Gluten-free items are available (not omakase), but be advised that the buckwheat noodles contain 20% wheat.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMA Japanese delightVery few Japanese restaurants make fresh soba (buckwheat) noodles and these are a Tei-An specialty. The soba are wonderful and everything else is in keeping with the quality of the food. No flaws. Food, service, atmosphere all blended harmoniously.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe are vegetarians. It is the best seaweed salad anywhere - a delicious white seaweed that is mild but more satisfying that the regular green thin seaweed. I did not notice the new vegetarian options on the menu, but I look forward to trying them. Even though my selections, as a vegetarian, are limited, I always enjoy what I eat.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperior Asian CuisineSuperior Asian Cuisine, great ambiance, and subtle, exceptional service. Some of the best Japanese food we have ever experienced. Tei-An makes our special occasions and visits to the AT&T Performing Arts Center that much better.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat as expected.A delicious and unique dining experience. Ordered a variety of dishes and all were conceived and executed in accordance with the restaurants high rating.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMTei-An ImpressesWe went here seeking an adventure in dining -- and found it. We started off with the white seafood salad and had the Omakase-An (expanded chef's selection) for our entree, which was very good. We were hoping for more seafood in the choices; one course was a lobster risotto, but we didn't count that as "seafood"; in fact, it was kind of off-putting. The sushi courses were the best with some of the freshest, cleanest fish we have had. The soba noodles were great. She had the soba tea, which was earthy and different in a good way. Overall, we were very pleased.
Downside: a too-raucous "private" event was going on in the room next to us. I hope the cab companies made a lot of money taking those people home that night.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDid the Omakese for 3 people.Did the Omakese for 3 people. Totally worth it. Culinary adventure. The only thing that marred our visit was a very loud party in the next room. Not sure why they didn't close the doors, since they have them, but they were very loud.
Next time, when I make my reservations I will ask about large parties and if they have one, I will go a different day.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMCreative presentation andCreative presentation and quirky combinations.
