Diner Reviews
  • "Went to Ted's to celebrate a co-workers birthday. We had ten people and got a quiet booth/room where we could have our own party . Service was very attentive, they were friendly but not overbearing. They didn't rush us out during the middle of the lunch craze. A very relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. We highly recommend it."

  • "Tried Ted's before seeing Rocky at the Wintergarden, and it was a good choice both for food, service and proximity. A lot less crowded than spots more in the actual theater district, with better pricing and a nice menu. One of us had a bison burger with horseradish cheddar, slow-braised bison, grilled mushrooms and horseradish sauce, the other, the salt and pepper trout, and we'd recommend both. We'll definitely return."

  • "Last minute trip to the city...decided to go to this Ted's again as we had been there last year & it was great! Once again the food was really good & our server was awesome. All three of us had steak & each one was cooked to perfection & delicious! A great place to go for a good steak and great service!! Convenient midtown location too! We will be back next time we visit NYC!!"

  • "Prices are not cheap but the steak was great, along with service and overall experience. My one issue albeit a minor one, was out dessert which was cookie and ice cream was a rock solid cookie which was not warmed up. Otherwise it was a nice experiece."

  • "Service was awful. Waitress very rude. Food very disappointing."

  • "Went to celebrate a co-worker's birthday and Ted's was just right. Terrific server, Kevin, who was attentive but not intrusive, good sense of humor, and ready with recommendations when asked. Would go again though at the height of the lunch hour the noise level made conversation almost impossible. We lingered and later was definitely better."

  • "Solid 30 Rock neighborhood eatery. Menu goes beyond bison basics."

  • "Took my wife there for her bday. Must say it was a really good experience. The service was really good. Waiter was really attentive. And to top it all the food was great. The steak was first class. I highly recommend the crab cakes or grilled shrimp as a starter."

  • "Ted's was a wonderful find! My hubby had an amazing burger...but the real treat for the pallet was the cranberry roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans! Amazing. The chicken was incredibly seasoned and so tender...no knife was needed! I wanted to go back for the same meal our second night in NYC! A must try!"

  • "My first time at Ted's Montana Grill. Had dinner there with my family and my brother and his wife and all except my brother was disappointed in their dinners. He had the chicken. Service was very good. Ambience was missing. I ordered a Bison steak which was mostly fat and very salty. Too many great steakhouses in NYC such as Benjamin's which is where we should have gone."

  • "Ted's is such an awesome mix of classic steak restaurant and neighborhood gathering. We highly recommend it."

  • "Ted's Montana Grill is always a great choice for drinks or dinner in the Midtown area. Most other options are extremely expensive or pub type places. Sometimes the bar area can be a bit crowded after work; but once you're seated at a table it's spacious and the service is great."

  • "I love this place. The location (near Times Square) is really convenient. I have been there several times for lunch. They offer high quality burgers for a reasonable price. I highly recommend the George Cadillac burger with bison meat. Yummy ! The service is good and the waiters always nice. It might take a while to be served though, and the restaurant can be loud at peak hours. But if you're not in a hurry and enjoy lively places, these might not even be negative points !"

  • "I frequent Ted's in NYC and Atlanta when I travel. It's perfect for a business lunch, and an occasional biz dinner. But, the locations I frequent have very comfortable bars where I can eat SOLO. The food is always excellent and the service attentive. I only wish there was a Ted's in Ft. Lauderdale."

  • "A friend of mine went to the restaurant in ATL, said the burgers were good. So we tried the one in NYC and the burger did not disappoint. The waitress (Elissa) was super sweet and the food was on point. The burger (Red Rock) was packed with so much flavor. I will be back for seconds!!"

  • "The food is delicious and the service is excellent and friendly. Last reservation which I made was 10:30. I thought the theater would be over by 10:00. They close the kitchen by 11:00 but took great care of us. If you go, you can't get there later than 10:30. Wished that we could've gone before the theater! This was my second time there and will definitely go again!!!"

  • "I have been here several times and I have never been disapointed. I really think this is a neighborhood gem because its neslted between rockafeller center and times square. There are several steakhouse located around and Ted's give you the amazing food for really half the price. The night I had a reservation they were offering a steak sauce with bourbon and bbq, simply delicious! I highly recommmed Ted's, go for the Ted's signature margarita!"

  • "This place is worth your time and money. Great service and great food. The Bison is excellent---that's all we've sampled, but I can't recommend the place enough. Slightly more casual than some of your Manhattan steak houses, but still great food and atmosphere."

  • "The best part of the experience was the bison steak, it was trendier, moist and delicious. The specialty drink, Bufflo Run, I think it is called was also very good. Our server was excellent as well. The only complaint would be about the sides, the potatoes tasted like they came out a box and the brocolli was cold and flavorless."

  • "The roast chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans was heavy on salt but warm and comforting on a chilly night. The booths are cozy and make conversation easier. Service was attentive."

  • "I needed a place to host a business meeting for 10 people during lunchtime amid a national engineering conference offsite but close to the conference location. I chose Ted Montana's using Open Table because I've eaten at their Colorado Springs location several times and never had a bad experience. In midtown NY City, they nailed it. We were seated in a small room that fit the group size perfectly, and we were treated very well by the wait staff. Service was prompt and unobtrusive; the food was really good; and the cost was lower than expected. The whole experience was very enjoyable, and I'd like to thank Ted Montana's for taking the time to do it right."

  • "Great find in Manhattan! Good food, excellent service close to theaters! 2nd time at this place and enjoyed it even more! The Bison Filet was terrific and all members of our party enjoyed their choices! We will return when in the area!!"

  • "We visited this restaurant on a family weekend trip to NY. Food was very good, standouts were the meatloaf and bison burgers. Steak was well cooked but I've had more flavorful rib-eye. Staff was very friendly and very accommodating to our 9 and 4 year olds."

  • "Other than the salad not being fresh, and the butter on the 14oz steak being salted, the food is very good. That's the only reason I rated it very good and not outstanding. It is kid friendly if they are well mannered. Great for special occasions and groups as they have a secluded family room. Great wine list and last but not least, they serve beef and bison! Definitely worth a try...."

  • "Joined a former co-worker in town on business here on a Tuesday night. We were in the mood for steak but didn't want to spend a lot. He had the Bison Rib-eye and felt that it was slightly over cooked and a bit tough. I decided on the bison burger and enjoyed it. Drinks were good as well as salad and sides."

  • "Good food at reasonable prices for the city. Only tips: Skip the Caesar salad. Order the Apple Pecan Crisp for dessert."

  • "I went to Ted's on a very cold day. We were seated in the main part of the dining room, not really near the door but in a path to it. It was very cold outside that day. For reasons I can't explain the door seemed to be open all the time, and the cold air just came rushing in. It was freezing; in fact, it was so cold that by the time the check came, my hands were shaking. Ted's is a good place, but I will never go there on a cold day again."

  • "My wife and I dined at Ted's before taking in a recent performance at Radio City Music Hall. We shared onion rings and each had an entree salad that we could have shared, they were so large. The menu is not extensive, but I've enjoyed everything I've ever ordered at a Ted's. Our service was the best we had during our recent trip to NYC. Finally, it is literally around the corner from Radio City Music Hall, making it an ideal choice if you are attending a show there - no more than a 2 minute walk. And after having paid $94 for two cheeseburgers the previous evening at a local pub, this bill was significantly easier on the wallet!"

  • "Our family went to Ted's after a friend's recommendation to celebrate our daughter's 10th birthday. We were looking for something a little more upscale for the special occasion, but something that the kids would enjoy and would also not break the bank during their first trip to NYC. From the grilled shrimp appetizer to the Bison Ribeye, Crabcakes, Ted's Filet & Kids steak, everything was great! We topped it off with Wildberry Cheesecake, Hand-made Shakes & Sorbet. Our reservations were early enough (7:30pm) that the crowds were not bad at all. The service was very good and staff was friendly. The experience was great and the kids really enjoyed their "fancy" dinner!"

  • "All was excellent, but I would recommend that you change your billing system. When I received the bill, it looked like the server put the evening special in as separates which would have inflated the price. The server said all people question this. If this is so, it should be changed."

  • "Awesome food - the nachos and meatloaf were truly spectacular. All the different burger options were impressive. Came into city to see Radio City Christmas show and Rockefeller Tree, so Ted's was an easy walk from both. Atmosphere is very nice."

  • "The place is very inviting and I saw a lot of people at the bar. We had such an amazing waiter and the food was not only yummy (I hadthe steak frites and my boyfriend had the bison) but it wad also big in portion. For dessert he had the brownie and and had a coojie and ice cream -so good!!. The only problem I had was the everytime the door opened I would get a burst of wind hitting me while I ate, which was chilly. Otherwise great restaurant."

  • "Went on a Thursday for lunch while in the city. Made reservations for 11:15 , so glad we did, by the time we left right before noon there were people waiting in line. Open table came through again! Had soup and burgers, service was attentive and quick and food was hot and delicious. Not our first time at Ted's and will not be our last, highly recommend trying it."
