Diner Reviews
  • "Courses extremely small. Overpriced food for the quality and quantity."

  • "Terrible service. Did not get our food. Had to wait forever to get our drinks. The music was too loud could not hear the people seated at my table."

  • "I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant although it was a bit loud but I guess that is to be expected in a DC restaurant. The food was fantastic and the service was great. I would highly recommend ordering the pork belly. It was absolutely delicious!"

  • "The service makes you feel like they are friends you haven't seen in some time. They are very helpful and have great suggestions in planning out the dining experience. The tartar stands out along with the specialty old fashioned's. This is a place not to miss."

  • "The food at Teddy was quite good, not the best but certainly worth trying. The service was attentive but that may have been a function of how early we were eating. The decor is fine, not nearly as fun and exciting as Lincoln. I would recommend Teddy but it wouldn't top my list."

  • "Food was really great, although the restaurant ended up being much louder than I had wanted or intended. They were holding a private event in half of the venue though, so I don't know if that was the cause or contributed to the noise and chaotic atmosphere. The restaurant has a cool theme though!"

  • "It's hard to beat this deal - unlimited brunch drinks (with a great hot sauce bar) and unlimited selection of food? Hard to beat. The omelets are delicious and made to order. The ambiance is fun. Plan to spend at least 2 hours there because you'll likely need to take a break in the middle to let your food digest a bit before going for more. The service was exceptional."

  • "We were suprised to learn upon arrival that the portions were small plates and that two-three would need to be ordered per person to make a meal as this was not listed anywhere on the website or menu. This led us to an awkward situation where the meal was far more than budgeted for. The food was good but mostly boring."

  • "The brunch experience was awful. Having a dj at 11 am is not what I expected or wanted. I asked to have the music turned down so I could hear my friends and it sounded like it was turned up. The server was nice however a lot of my table had dietary restrictions and he just kept bring us food out that no one could eat and never took a list of thing we wanted. I feel that the shared brunch might work better if you have a piece of paper similar to a sushi bar where you check the food items you want or just do a buffet style brunch. If you are going to have a dj for brunch you should advertise it. I expected more from teddy and the bully bar and ultimately was disappointed. I might try it again for dinner but never brunch again."

  • "I don't recommend it for Sunday brunch. They have a DJ playing and it's hard to have a conversation. The portions are unusually small, and while the food is good, it's not amazing. The wait staff was rarely encountered. The decor is really unique - love the TR motif."

  • "Great drink menu, nicely decorated and overall a very good experience. Menu has good variety but portions are on the small side, yet still packed with flavor. The service was good, but at times a little over bearing between the server, bussers, and managers constantly checking on you. I lost count but we must have been asked how everything was at least 10 times. Better to be on the safe side though, not a big deal. This is one of the better restaurants in dupont circle."

  • "Overall I was satisfied with the food and service. I read some complaints that the à la cart menu didn't have enough offerings. For sure the full brunch at 40 Dollars Seemed to be way too much food – especially for that price. But I was able to find multiple things on the other menu that sounded good to me. Both me and my companion ordered off the à la carte menu, & were satisfied with the two small plates we each ordered. The huge downside for me was that around 11:30 or so a DJ started with the music. It was super loud and almost impossible to even have a conversation. I suppose this might be good nice for large groups but that would be the main deterrent for me in going back for brunch."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed this place in the past eating dinner at the bar, so we took a group of family and friends visiting from out of town here for dinner and sat in main dining room. After that dining experience, we will never eat at this establishment again. We waited 20 minutes for someone to take our drink/food order. We were a party of 6 and the bread basket they gave only had 4 pieces of bread. When we asked for extra, we were told they charge $3 for extra bread. We declined. Our cocktails came after our food and they charge extra if you want a drink "on the rocks." We will not return. Too many other restaurants in DC with comparable/better food and drinks with better service."

  • "The portions here are extremely miniscule and the Chef must have the best food cost in the city! Wake up and let customers have more for what they pay - Teddy's is not cheap. Third and final visit. Would recommend to see the décor which is great but the portions - lack value."

  • "DELICIOUS!! The restaurant visually is beautiful. Loved the bar, so sat for awhile as the bartender, Chris, made different cocktails for each of us. I'm picky, so he made up something special that I loved. The staff let us choose our table and the atmosphere was great. 5 STARS for the food and service!!!! We had the TASTING MENU, which was very AFFORDABLE and it was INCREDIBLE. We are foodies, and we all were raving. The chefs came out to greet us and the service was stellar. Our waiter recommended a very reasonably priced wine that was delicious. As we were dining, the bar scene was getting busy, but it didn't affect our dinner. IN ALL, IT WAS AN INCREDIBLE MEAL!!!! We will go back!!!"

  • "My wife had a terrific experience a month ago with several girlfriends at lunch so we decided to bring a friend with us to Sunday brunch. Big mistake. Basically there were two options: small plates of excellent food that wasn't enough for a meal - or $40 for brunch which was way too much food. My wife asked if she could buy just an omelet and was told it would cost her $40. Surely a middle ground could be arranged so that some popular brunch items - like omelets- could be purchased a la carte. The other problem was totally disorganized service. During our meal six different food items were brought to our table that we hadn't ordered. There's no excuse for that. The message was clear: steer clear of Sunday brunch unless you're very hungry."

  • "We were truly blown away by the amazing service and quality of the food and drinks we had at Teddy's. Our server went above and beyond to share a bit of history with us. The small plates and cocktails were made with great attention to detail and were all outstanding. We certainly will make Teddy's one of our regular options."

  • "Great place to have a leisurely, all-inclusive brunch with friends. If bringing in parents, I recommend asking for a quieter setting since the main brunch room has a DJ. Great food, distracted service. Will probably be back with friends, instead of parents, another time."

  • "We went to Teddy's over the weekend to celebrate my birthday with friends. Our group had a lot of allergies that needed to be managed - shellfish, dairy, eggs. We all chose the blind tasting menu and the chef created dishes for the whole table that met all our restrictions. The food was delicious and our server was top notch. It was a great experience."

  • "I really liked Teddy. The food was fun and our server was very well-informed and attentive without smothering us. It is loud in this place on a Thursday night but lively is always good. I really enjoyed the kale salad, the pork belly flat bread and the short ribs. it was all very tasty and it total quite satisfying."

  • "Love the small plate idea for a brunch here at Teddy and the Bull Bar. I went with just one other friend and we did the Prix Fixe brunch where it is bottomless food and brunch booze. Our waitress offered to choose all of our small plates for us and promised to keep our glasses full. Totally recommend for anybody."

  • "$40 unlimited brunch was amazing between the great food and never seeing the bottom of my mimosa glass."

  • "The price of each dish is around $10. However, the serving proportion is rather small. Therefore you should order 2~3 items to make a regular restaurant dinner portion. If you do not eat a heavy meal, it's convenient. I ordered duck breast, and it was not served hot enough. It was Friday evening and the bar was full of young professionals and the noise level was too much even in the dinning room. This restaurant is good for drinking with small dishes with your friends but not good for a "serious" dinner experience."

  • "Me and a friend tried this restaurant for the first time for lunch and we were both impressed. We both had amazing sandwiches, the waiter was sharp, the meal was quick, and after looking over their brunch menu, we're going to try that next."

  • "This was an impromptu birthday dinner for a friend, so we opted for a new place in the neighborhood. We arrived at 6 p.m. on a Saturday and the place was mostly empty, but it was quite full and bustling by the time we left. Our waiter Jonathan was terrific, there were some interesting Teddy-themed cocktails, and the food (small plates) was very tasty. Multiple vegetarian options for me, and Jonathan volunteered to have other dishes modified. There was also a very nice birthday surprise for my friend, not entirely unexpected but still a very nice touch. All in all a great evening."

  • "My wife and I went here for the first time before a concert. The service was great. Extremely knowledgeable about the different dishes, how they work together, and the very extensive bar menu. Would highly recommend this place to anyone in the DC / DuPont area."

  • "Took my husband there for his birthday with my teenage children. Service was very attentive and prompt. Food was outstanding. Everyone was polite and acted like they'd actually wanted us there even though we didn't order a lot of alcohol. We will definitely go back! The decor was cool too!"

  • "a very enjoyable evening food was great and service also"

  • "Overall good... The food was good and the restaurant has a cool design. The downfall (that would keep me from going back), is that the bottomless drinks are very weak. You really don't want to drink very many because of it; mimosa's are all juice and the bloody's are mostly a very spicy mixer. Also- the last seating is at 3pm but they stop the "bottomless" food and drinks soon after! Strange. The last thing is that the restaurant had a dj spinning and the atmosphere was really lively but the lights in the restaurant were very bright so it was kind of a weird vibe. If they could make the cocktails more desirable, get the mood right and keep the "bottomless" going long enough then its worth the $40 and a great spot to have a fun brunch."

  • "The service was pretty bad/slow; and the option if you didn't get the prixe fix which was not clearly stated on web site or menu clearly was not great; in addition - the bread basket was only for tables that received the prixe fix, it was very odd. And we rarely saw our waitress."

  • "It is usually a bad idea to eat out on a holiday because the restaurant is never at its best but this Valentines Day really took it to a new level. Of our four course holiday tasting menu, the first two courses came out in the first 15 minutes, followed by a short break and then the entree. Problem being that just as we were cutting into our third course, dessert came out. It was sent back of course but probably sat someplace until we put our forks down, and was then re-presented. The food was good but the experience far from special, much less romantic."

  • "Teddy needs to decide if it's a bar or a restaurant. The bar is large and bustling. The restaurant aspires to fine dining. The two are a mismatch. The food is good, not gourmet but good. Service wise, our waiter was great, but three times in one night different servers tried to give us food for other tables! This is fine for 20 something's on a night out, but nothing more."

  • "First time to this restaurant and I really enjoyed it. The service was fantastic. I walked up to the bar and was helped immediately by the bartender even though the bar was packed. Our waitress was also amazing (especially considering it was her first night). The food tasted fantastic. Note: the food is meant to be shared (more like tapas) than individual plates. Overall a fantastic experience."

  • "We had a really nice meal here -- despite a little snafu on our server forgetting about us right at the start (for about 20 minutes). We didn't make a big deal about it at all - but they gave us a round of drinks which was a nice gesture. Our new server was awesome as was the food. Only thing I wished was different was the lighting -- it was so bright for a dinner setting. Like cafeteria bright. I don't usually notice the lighting but this felt was very noticeable after my friend pointed out. I would definitely recommend to a friend. And I hear their all included brunch is great!"
