Server was pleasant but it took 50 minutes to bring our food to the table and the french fries were stone cold, the bun on the burger was stale it was barely warm enough to eat. I used to enjoy eating here, it's a shame to see it go downhill

This place was pretty disappointing. The food was okay, the ambiance was strange, and the service wasn't very good although it was entertaining. I was really looking forward to eating here especially after experiences at other Le Cordon Bleu locations. I'm sad to say that I wouldn't eat here again.

Overall is good except that foods are too salty. Since the server is a student, his services is considered OK, still have rooms for improvement like try to memorize client's choice, put bread on the table without clients' asking for it... Foods served very slowly and it may not be good for working people who only have 1 hour lunch. It took us 1 hour 45 minutes from taking order to paying bill.

Overall my experience of booking a restaurant reservation with Open Table was abysmal. I even received a reminder of my booking the day before ! Paid for a taxi to get us to the district where the restaurant was only to find there was a private function on and they knew nothing about my reservation. They no longer deal with Open Table and only serve lunches not evening meals. So we were left at night miles from anywhere with not a taxi in sight and had to start walking ... Ruined our last night in San Francisco. Be warned.

    Dined on 10/9/2012
It was our second dining experience here within one week. We returned because we enjoyed it the week prior which was outstanding. This time the menu was completely revamped and featured more sandwiches and standard lunch items with three hot entrees. We ordered salad which was fine and steak frites - the steak was tasteless, barely warm and the frites were crispy thin straw potatoes instead of the traditional pommes frites which are thin but not that thin! The dessert was the same one we ordered the week before, the bread pudding, but this time it tasted like it had been frozen and just thawed. It was lacking in flavor and texture unlike the first time we tried it. Altogether a most disappointing meal. Our waiter was fabulous. Not going back

    Perfection
    Dined on 10/5/2012
We were on vacation in San Francisco & decided to try a cooking school. We went with a local who didn't realize it was in his neighborhood. We loved the space, it was large with the tables separated so it was private; we could comfortably talk and hear each other. There was a large selection of choices for a reasonably priced prix fix lunch that included an appetizer, a main course, and a desert. They use fresh ingredients and organic meats. The short rib of beef was amazing with great flavor & it melted when cut. It was over perfectly mashed potatoes. All of us enjoyed our meals and the space. The staff, who are students are eager to please, they know what's on the menu & went out of the way to answer our few questions.

The food and service at Le Technique is outstanding. The 3 course lunch is an amazing bargain. We have been eating here for many years and the food is always top quality, fresh and innovative. Unfortunately, there seems to be a glitch with making reservations on Open Table as it frequently gives outdated menu and pricing information (i.e., dinner menu is listed but dinner is not available) and frequently tables are unavailable when the restaurant is half empty. Since it is a Culinary School it might be instructive for students to answer the phone and take reservations.

My friend and I enjoyed our second special lunch. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. Dessert (a Napoleon) was particularly good. We always go here for birthday celebratios. (The only reason I did not check some of the items above is that we have not been there at that time or experienced other items -- e.g, kid-friendly.

Baguette and unsalted butter were good! The first course of grilled salad was nice and tasty. But the entree, Peruvian halibut was very salty that I could not finish it. The couscous and accompanying grains were seasoned blandly but that made it possible to eat a few bites of the halibut. The dessert was ok. Service was great!

I took my 2 kids and wife We all ordered the three course menu That means that we had 12 items. All of the starters/salads were excellent All of the desserts were excellent OF the entrees 3 of 4 were excellent My Brisket was not very good. It was like a below average Bar Mitvah prime rib. I was expecting either BBQ type brisket or deli brisket. However, having said this I want to make it clear that I know that this is a school setting and as such things happen. I think that having 11 out of 12 items being excellent is a great average. Having one bad item would never prevent me from returning!

My wife and I didn't know quite what to expect when we made lunch reservations here, but we were not disappointed. The food was exceptionally well prepared and presented. For a fixed price (very reasonable), you choose one each from the list of appetizers, main dishes, and desserts. The waiters and waitresses were second year students in the culinary program, and were a delight to talk to. We learned that on completing their studies, our waiter will be heading to Ireland to work at a Bed and Breakfast, and our waitress will be heading home to Guam, perhaps working at one of the hotels there. It is great to see these young people pursuing their dreams. With this place being a short walk from the Caltrain station, we'll definitely be back...

  • Great 3-course meal for $15!!
    DinerSFVIP
    Dined on 7/17/2012
The first thing to know is that this is a learning/teaching facility, so it's not fancy. Do not let this distract you or turn you away. The food is creative but clean and really nice. For $15 you get a 3-course (yes, $15 for 3 app/salad then entree then desert) and they have glasses of wine for $8 - $15. So in San Francisco lunch for 2 with wine was $60 including tip! Best of all, it was delicious and we met the chef trainees and had a great time. Well worth it...

    OpenTable Diner Since 2003
    Dined on 7/12/2012
Can't beat it for the price and the wines were good and very reasonable. However: the service felt rushed - we were there barely 1 hr for lunch; the short ribs hadn't been reheated enough - still lukewarm; there was no soup spoon (The waiter told me to use the dessert teaspoon for the soup. And because they limit the number of reservations, we felt we were rattling around in a mostly empty cavern. I realize these are students but I've eaten at City College's Pierre Coste dining room served by students and the experience was much more polished.

I've been here over 7 times this year and this was the worst experience. I realize that the service isn't why we come here; however, this was by far the most disappointing of all. There were 2 LARGE groups that evening and those of us in smaller tables didn't receive adequate attention. Water wasn't refilled; hot food was cold; entree sides described on the menu were switched on plates (polenta with pork; mashed potatoes with meatloaf); had to request one of the appetizers that hadn't been served; & more...So disappointing since I had taken a friend for her 50th birthday and had raved about this place. Not sure if I'll ever return since the service is SO inconsistent.

Technique is no longer worth a visit. The server was unfamiliar with different entrees, for example, he couldn't tell us what a hanger steak was. The portions were small, and generally lacked flavor. The red cabbage and the risotto had been cooked into mush. There are so many other neighborhood restaurants in San Franciso that charge a little more for higher quality food. Go find them!
