Diner Reviews
  • "Food was very good - we had the mushroom risotto. We were there Friday at 6, but the wait staff starting rushing us on our bill before we finished our dessert even though there was no line. They may have overbooked their reservations."

  • "Even though I had to make last minute changes to increase number of people in our party, staff was very accommodating . "

  • "Had dinner here as a last minute option while visiting an old friend. I'm vegan and he is not. Our server and the kitchen staff went out of their way to accommodate my dietary needs. Food was excellent and everyone was very pleasant. Kjell and I had not seem each other on 4 years and Teatro was the perfect place to have dinner. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Boston or a local Bostonian to check this place out...you will be happy you did."

  • "My husband and I ate here before seeing Book of Mormon at the Boston Opera House. It was an excellent location for a short walk to the theater afterward, and pleasant ambiance. We found the food very so so though. I had a steak which was greasy and salty, and the same could be said of my husband's risotto. (Oily and salty). For the price and plethora of other dining options in Boston I would not recommend to a friend."

  • "We were a group of 6, came in after the theatre (after the "teatro", haha) and we all had a wonderful time: Food, service, etc. ere simply great. Antipasto, calamari, arugula salad, mushroom risotto, swordfish, pasta with lobster, those are the dishes I recall, and they were, without exception, all delicious!"

She was attentive with out time constraints and gave us fabulous recommendations on the food! We really enjoyed the delicious and casual dinner! The spinach raviolis are to die for!!!!"

  • "We had a large (9) party at Teatro for a before theatre dinner. We were seated right on time and were delighted with the energetic ambiance of the room. The option of small plates suited some of our group and the diversity of the menu pleased everyone. Service was exceptional. Kristen was was friendly, charming, professional and very efficient. She really added to our evening's enjoyment. We all thought the food served was delicious and we would definitely return."

  • "Great food and great service. Price was reasonable. Tight quarters was my only complaint."

  • "This was my first time trying the restaurant - at first I was a little skeptical as the menu was small but tried the pasta with lobster which was outstanding. Also I loved the chocolate crema which is so hard to find no one has that on their dessert menu - definitely will go back - my mouth was watering when I was telling my friends about it"

  • "For no good reason I've postponed a visit to Teatro for years. Now I can regret that decision. If there is a negative - it is a relatively cramped room - high ceiling but narrow and not much space between the tables. But even with that, the food was worth another visit. We had the antipasto mixed plate - good, not brilliant. The pizza however was the superlative winner. And the wine list has a modest but decent collection of reds - more Italian focussed. If other dishes are as good as the pizza - this place has earned its praise."

  • "I selected Teatro because of it's proximity to the Wang/Citicentre venue and the good reviews. We parked in the underground Boston Common parking area and had only a short walk to the restaurant for 5:45 PM reservation. Everything was wonderful, the food, the servers, and the comfortable seating. We order thincrust pizzas (apple and tomato) and an antipasto to split. All was delicious! We enjoyed cocktails and dessert with no complaints. All in all, it was a great choice for the start of a lovely evening."

  • "Great food for dinner before going to a show in theater district. Alittle crowded and noisy, but the food is very good."

  • "My husband took me here on our first date several years ago. We ordered plate by plate and ended up staying for at least 3 hours! It is a place we like to come to for special occasions and can't say enough about the small plates. The seating is tight, and it can get a bit loud; however, but we never seem to notice once we are seated, having great conversation and enjoying the food."

  • "Excellent service from all of staff. Loved that you can get half portions on pasta dishes. Had the best dessert ever. Vanilla bean panna cotta with caramel and lightly salted nuts."

  • "We were going to a show and were concerned about timing. They have a wondeful menu for both leisurly dining and a quick meal. Quality was wonderful and they got our meals out to us in record time. LOVE IT!"

  • "Our dinner was fantastic we had the calamari for an appetizer . We got the lobster with the sea shell pasta and chicken Milanese with a side of eggplant rollitini . My only complaint was I wish they had a more varied wine list"

  • "We've eaten at Teatro several times before, usually before we go to the theater. Each time, we've told our server that we needed to be finished with dinner under an hour and they have always served us promptly and in a very friendly manner. The food is always delicious and the service is great. I highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "Everyone enjoyed their meals. The kitchen/bar/server was a little slow that night. We had a 7:30 ballet date and just made it even with 5:30 reservations. I will definitely go back."

  • "Very nice Italian experience. Very closed quarters so sitting near other patrons, but food was great. Service was nice. We'll definitely go back."

  • "The ceiling and walls of the restaurant are beautiful, bronze wooden designs on white background. The bar is cozy and many sat and watched the basketball games as they had their dinner. The bartender expertly made a gingersnap martini thing was a thing of beauty and looked delicious. The 4 of us sat in a New York-crowded dining room and had a really hard time hearing each other across the table. The menu seemed uninspired and our dishes matched that description. Our Colombian waiter was very friendly although his attentiveness only increased as we were getting our check. No need to return as there are too many other theater dinner options."

  • "I have been to this Restaurant several times and was disappointed. Food was fair - nothing spectacular. My Husband ordered the Sea Bass special and felt for $28.00 was a very small portion - I agreed and have a very small appetite. Noted allergy in my reservation and Server didn't acknowledge - I had to bring it to Waiter's attention. Skip as better restaurants in the area."

  • "The appetizers and entrees were all good quality, and the chef appeared to be inspired to utilize seasonal ingredients, but we dared not order dessert simply because we were not sure if our waiter was able to take the order in any sort of timely fashion. Never before have I experienced a dinner where we were unable to determine if the person who finally took our drink order (with zero recommendations for wine) was our server because we could not get him to return to take our food order. When we finally did place our appetizer order, we were abruptly cut off, and the menus were left on the table with us not being able to order entrees until 20 minutes after we finished our appetizers. I look forward to the chef moving to a better restaurant."

  • "Our waiter was excellent. The Antipasto platter was very good, all 3 of us would recommend it. Two of the dinners (Ravioli, and Bolognese) were good. The special (Red Perch) was not as flavorful as hoped. We would consider a second visit."

  • "Had dinner at Teatro before going to a nearby show. The location is perfect, of course, for a pre- or post-show meal. The wait staff was very friendly and professional. The menu was varied with lots of interesting and unique dishes. Our food came out stunningly fast. Because it came so quickly I was initially concerned about the quality, but then I took my first bite of the duck cannoli and was in heaven. It was increditbly delicous! I highly recommend this gem of a place!"

  • "Genuine quality service is hard to find these days, but our server at Teatro was fantastic as was the food. The mussel appetizer is a definite must-have! We were a group of 3 and ordered 2 appetizers, a garlic parmesan truffle fries, 3 half-portion pastas/risottos, and 3 entrees that we all got to share. The only disappointment was the appetizer special, which was somewhat boring. Everything else offered beautiful presentation, well-blended flavors, freshness, and overall deliciousness. i would definitely recommend this establishment for anyone visiting or residing in Boston! Reservations definitely recommended."

  • "On Tremont St a half block from the Colonial Theater and 2 blocks from the Citi/Wang, Teatro is in a great location for the pre/after theater crowd. We got last minute tickets from a friend and wanted to do early dinner before a 7pm showing. We arrived at 5:30 and were able to be seated early. It was a Wednesday evening. The menu has pizzas, salads, pasta and entrees. The real nice thing is that you can have small plates, not just full meals. The caesar and the Bolognese and the terrific bread was more than enough for a pre show dinner. By 6pm the place was jumping..on a Wednesday yet. Very loud crowd perhaps due to the high domed ceiling, but this was invigorating for the pre-show. Highly recommended."

  • "Go to Teatro for a perfect evening in the theatre district. Nothing else in the neighborhood is even comparable! Beautiful lighting and great food."

  • "Not a lot of selection but the handmade pasta they did have was excellent and cooked perfectly."

  • "I've never been disappointed by the food or service at Teatro and have been a customer since they opened. I'm still though having a hard time accepting that I was the only customer who adored their rum cake and wish they would put it back on the dessert menu. The current dessert menu needs to be ramped up."
