One of my favourite spots - consistently excellent and creative food from the Chef who is a real talent. This particular night (a Tuesday) was busy with insufficient staff - hurried service and somewhat displaced service at times - especially wine service - not as attentive as usual. No sommelier was present that evening. The restaurant was busy and this was declared to be "normal for a Tuesday" by our waiter - yet the staffing was inadequate. The table we were seated at had inadequate space and the chair backing onto another table was constantly bumped by the patron at that table. No one seemed to notice. Time to up the game to return to the service level we expect from such a long standing, notable and typically enjoyable restaurant.

It has been several years since we've been to Teatro, I don't know why we don't go more often. The food was delicious (I had risotto that I still think about), the service was great (I was even brought a little stool to keep my purse off the floor) and the ambiance is always inviting. We will definitely go back!

Once again, a wonderful dining experience at Teatro. This has been my favourite place to dine out with elegance for over 20 years. Service is personal, relaxed, and attentive, even when they are very busy. The food is consistently delicious. The rotisserie special is always a good choice for larger servings. The old bank building has the high ceilings that make conversations private and audible, even when they are crowded. The perfect place for a pre-theatre dinner, right across the street from the Jack Singer.

I have not been to Teatro for years and we decided to have an early meal prior to the CPO last Saturday. We were seated in a gorgeous spot with a cozy couch table. The food was excellent but the server, Michael, is really what made our meal special. He was outstanding! Accommodating, knows his wines, perfect timing, and extremely nice! I would go back just for service and ask to be seated in his section. Be prepared for a big bill however (but that is not his fault) and for a special event, it is worth it.

I tried the taster menu and the premium wine pairing. Overall, the taster menu was decent but not spectacular. Some good dishes in there, like the halibut, some nothing really stood out. I've visited a number of A class restaurants across the world. Teatro didn't really stand out from a food perspective. However, there was one really impressive aspect to the night. The wine pairings were outstanding. Probably the best pairings I've sampled. Unusual and thoughtful choices showcasing wines across the world. Finally, the building is beautiful but the noise level is fairly high.

A practical person might think of Teatro as a convenient place to dine before a performance. We did. But after our dinner the other evening, I will think of Teatro as a worthy destination on its own. It's well worth lingering over a meal here. The food is lovely and the service exemplary.

Reservations were not indicated in the computer properly. I had to pull up an email to confirm with the host. Kind of embarrassing of you ask me. Under the requests part I mentioned "happy one year anniversary together" which was not mentioned. Kind of a downer. It was a special night and was not mentioned. There was a goodwill discount which was $20 but apart from a $45 tip on a $150 bill all I got was a "I will never forget that night forever" by my loved one i took out that night

We had tickets to the Theater on Thursdays, so I thougt we'll give it try. My friend tried the seafood lasagna since the waitress highly recommended it. I Had a apbad experience with this dish a few years ago so I had roastisary chicken. I tried a little bit of the lasagna and found the noodle is still soggy, my fired found the sauce too heavy. Although they do give you lots of seafood. The chicken was really dry and over cooked. The appetizer beef capriccio was excellent. One of the best I had. The coffee was dispointingly bad. For someone who likes weak coffee like myself, it was weak and with no aroma. The service was great. For the price they charge, I would have to say I won't go back again or recommend to anyone.

Made a lunch reso for 3, gave it a last chance after it earned #2 spot from Avenue Magazine. Service started out positive but quickly fell apart at the entrees which took 45 minutes to come out and were sub par in terms of quality and taste. How an Italian restaurant can screw up a simple dish of pappardelle is beyond me but congrats to the kitchen staff as they were able to today. Will not return again. Comped 50% of the meal when the whole thing should have been written off. Disaster

Have recently had two excellent meals at Teatro, one at lunch a couple of weeks ago, and then for an early dinner prior to a concert at the Jack Singer Hall. Both meals were superb, with menus drawn from Italian origins, but with some twists that demonstrated culinary skills and imagination of a high standard. Not cheap, but good value for money that compares favourably with quality restaurants in other major cities around the world.

I took my Mum here as a part of a theatre night out and we fell in love with Teatros. Our server, Michael, was fantastic. He was pleasant and knowledgeable - it was nice to have a proper dinning experience on this side of the Atlantic. We weren't pressured to pay up and leave. The courses were properly spaced - allowing you time to enjoy and savor the culinary artistry of the kitchen. We then enjoyed a perfect cappuccino and their Tiramisu. Not one complaint with this meal or service. It was also the small touches like the purse stands for our bags. Marvelous experience in the heart of Calgary. Classic and can't wait to return.

We asked for a nice table for my husband's birthday and we got a romantic and private boot. We never had to waive for anything, the staff was great. We had beef carpaccio, beef tenderloin and lamb chops. It was excellent. It's good to mention that they have virgin option for the drinks... it comes handy when you are pregnant and you tired of sipping water or virgin ceasar everywhere you go! We enjoyed our 3 day shopping trip to Calgary and dinner at Teatro was a highlight. We had the Short Beef Rib Saltimbocca - excellent. Our waiter were exceptional and he invited us on a tour of your wine cellar (mainly because, I think, we had visited that wine vineyard in Italy). Amazing! Being able to view these old buildings from the basement was also a real treat. We will definitely return on our next trip from Medicine Hat.

We celebrated our anniversary there and had a great time. The Tagliatelle was a perfect size for myself and was very fresh. My husband had the lamb chops and said they tasted good but a big fatty for there size and the side dishes were boring and broccolini was a little overcooked to his liking. Lots of great options if you can't drink alcohol too seeing I was pregnant, that's always a bonus when you can't enjoy a glass of wine. By the end of the night we were very thirsty for water so not sure if there was too much salt in the dishes that we didn't notice at the time or not. Overall, we would dine there again. Very interested in having there lunch $25 with 3 courses.

I selected Teatro for the night of the day we did our civil marriage. Ambient was ok but not wow! We selected steak and pasta. Steak was funny and no taste. 44$ for a simple piece of beef! Pasta was great! So in case pasta is ordered u will be happy but for pasta there are many places to try in the city. I think the reason Teatro is a considered a great restaurant is that Calgary does not have many classy high end restaurant.

We went for supper mid-week so it wasn't too busy. Nice ambience, cold though. For the prices, you would expect excellent quality but it was not so. The $25 fish was just ordinary and could have come cheaply from any Sask lake. The $36 beef tenderloin was inedible (tough although ordered medium). The veggies were also less than ordinary. The wine was pricey and upset my husband's tummy. The pourer was also very stingy and maybe poured only 4 oz instead of 6. The desserts were also disappointing - creme brûlée was a murky Earl Grey version and hubby had some kind of hard lemon square - only the raspberry sorbet was good. The service was good but really, you can get a better meal just about anywhere else.

We've been here in the past and found the cannelloni absolutely delicious. This time around they told us the seafood lasagna would be the same. Unfortunately, the seafood was only alright and the sauce was too dry. This dish was not very disappointing. The prawn spaghetti was also too salty. Generally the rest of the meal was good, but not good enough that I would go back.
