  • "My wife and I enjoyed the 8 course chefs meal with wine tasting and we were both very impressed. The wine was delicious and the food was even better. We left with full stomachs and a nice wine buzz. The hospitality was very good and it was just a different experience altogether. I will recommend Teatro's to our friends and will definitely come back. "

  • "Started with a glass of champagne - off to a great beginning. Asparagus velouté soup Compressed melon with vermouth Bacon smoked pasta with coconut Best dishes sous vide beef cheeks and the cryogenic butterscotch(?) ice cream. Wine pairings matched up very well Got the tour of the wine cellar(s) downstairs - of interest to oenophiles. Excellent service by Josh (who answered most of our wine and otherwise questions) and Joshua B. This is a fun whole evening experience - about 4 hours start to finish."

  • "Been long time since I had been, need to come back more often!"

  • "Reserved a table for two for dinner and was promptly greeted by a friendly hostess. The high ceiling and the nicely decorated hall with winged booths offered a romantic ambience. We sipped a couple of well balanced cocktails and ordered our meals. While the fried calamari came out fresh in a newspaper wrapped cone with a side of chili aioli, the olives came disappointingly straight from a jar to a serving dish with red sauce poured over it. Wine list was extensive and reasonably priced. For mains, short rib saltimbooca was tasty with only 5 small portions. Pappardelle bolognese had average pasta, little sauce, and even less meat. Dessert was average at best and came out 5 minutes apart for 2 people! Go for the ambience and not the food."

  • "My second visit to Teatro was a disappointment. This place is over rated. The salad is small and does not meet the price. Pasta was good but not 5 star. Service was very stuffy: it feels like a court house inside the restaurant."

  • "Teatro is beautiful, I loved the entire look of the place it was a great spot for a romantic night out. The food is on the higher end price wise but it is well worth it. We had the calamari, beef carpaccio, beef tenderloin and the beef short rib saltimbocca, all of which were fabulous. I would especially recommend the tenderloin and short rib, absolutely delicious. Definitely have the tiramisu for dessert! They had a very extensive wine and cocktail selection, and the service was great as well. They made us feel special without being pretentious, I would go back in a heartbeat!"

  • "We had a perfect celebration for a birthday-the Staff made the birthday girl feel pampered and festive, but even had it not been a special occasion our dinner will be memorable for the beauty of the restaurant and the perfection of the food, staff & ambiance. Thank you Teatro."

  • "Our waitress almost picked and chose who she would provide good service to. Not consistent. Tentative at first but effort died quickly. We had to pour our own wine throughout the dinner. Food timing was a bit slow but very good. My seafood lasagna plate was very very hot to touch but surprisingly my actual food was luke warm which was disappointing as the dish would of been much more enjoyable hot. Overall the food was very good, but the lack of service really left a sour taste. Would be very hesitant to go back for the price (very expensive) if the service picks and chooses who they will provide good service to. This reminds me of a very snobby attitude and very disappointing for such a restaurant where the food is delicious."

  • "Decided to try Teatro in celebration of my Husbands birthday. It was a lovely restaurant and the staff were polite, friendly and attentive. The food was delightful with plenty of choice on the menu. We would definitely go again and would recommend to others."

  • "Best prime rib I have ever eaten, really enjoyed the salad and my wife was impressed with her halibut entrée. The food is not cheap but I truly believe its worth it and you really do get what you pay for."

  • "We went to Teatro for our recent anniversary. The atmosphere, staff and food were all fabulous. The Chef's Tasting menu was the perfect choice for a special occasion."

  • "Years ago I had a really rude disrespectful server at Teatro and I haven't wanted to come back since but was invited to lunch. The service was excellent and our server personable, friendly, and attentive. The food was terrific. Only issue - the bench I was sitting on didn't feel too stable - a bit rocky. Overall a really good experience."

  • "The food was delicious, though fairly pricy. The foie gras was superb. It and the Creme Brulee dessert were the highlights of the meal. Our server Thomas really made the evening special through his customer service, humour and knowledge of both the food and the beverages being served."

  • "Outstanding dinner! The food was excellent and the top three favourite of the various dishes we had were: a) beet salad -- I'm not exactly a beet lover but this was beyond delicious! b) prime rib -- best I've ever had c) raspberry sorbet -- most intense raspberry flavour ever"

  • "Went for a special occasion, it was our best dining experience ever. Cocktails, appetizers, wine, food were superb, topped it off with an ice-cream making demonstration and paired it with a fantastic dessert wine. Staff and service was went above and beyond any possible expectations."

  • "I hadn't been to Teatro for a while, not sure why, but was glad I returned. The food was stellar, the service outstanding - professional, friendly, accommodating but not pretentious - and overall the experience a real treat. Teatro occupies a wonderful old space with towering windows and columns - very elegant. The one drawback - its very noisy from all those hard surfaces! But as a primo before-theatre spot, it quietened down noticeably for us by 8 pm when everyone rushed off to catch their shows. Highly recommended!"

  • "The meal was excellent - it was evident there was skill in the preparation and blending of flavors. My server was approachable and nice - no airs yet professional. I will come back for lunch."

  • "Overall the food was great. I particularly enjoyed the tiramisu it was the best. The salad and the main fish course were also good and I liked the pretty salad and the taste of the subtle dressing."

  • "The menu for Dinning week is great. The service and the setting was wonderful. I only go to Teatro because it has a menu that fit my taste and at reasonable price to try out the restaurant. I would go again if it change its regular menu. I hope it participate in the Dinning week next year."

  • "Three of us started with soup of the day, oysters and calamari for appetizers. For main course, we ordered seafood lasagna, scallop and pickerel. Finished up with creme brulee and tiramisu. Fantastic food!"

  • "Pricey for pretty basic pasta dishes not much on creativity or taste."

  • "The caesar salad although unique, tasted very poorly. The rotisserie chicken was bland and not as good as the ones you could buy at Safeway. The lamb curry was not bad but nothing special either. Very disappointed for a restaurant rated #2 in Calgary."

  • "I know this resto has been around along long time, but i would have to say that is beginning to show. Not so much in the decor, but i felt the food was tired and slightly uninspired and the staff to be lethargic in dated and frumpy attire. Not good value and no sign of an updated 2014 resto."

  • "Teatro delivered their usual excellent dining experience. Going for a delayed Valentine's dinner on Feb 15, the restaurant was packed but our reserved (Opentable) table was held for us and we were immediately seated. Even full the atmosphere was warm but easy to have a conversation. We had a very rude and obnoxious table next to us and the staff were very accommodating in relocating us even in a very busy time. My food was excellent, the maple brussel sprouts are a MUST try! My wife found her chicken solidly average but agreed the appetizer and desert were impeccable. My home-made pasta was also wonderfully light and flavorful. Will definitely go back again."

  • "We chose this restaurant as a pre concert venue. Our server asked us immediately if that was what we were doing and then acted on it. The meal was very good, the service excellent. For such a fine eating establishment the portions are a good size. We shared a dessert, a creme brulee that was delicious and was plenty for the two of us."

  • "The heritage eye candy of this building, inside and out, is in itself worth a visit - add a focused , generously attentive and friendly staff, plus the distinctive fine dining that your taste buds spend hours thanking you for , and it all leaves a smile on your face so wide it would appear as if you had a coat hanger in your mouth ...wonderfully paced and entertaining dining... tremendous is an understatement. and well worth whatever amount is spent."

  • "Food was very average. I ordered a pasta dish where the pasta had been clearly sitting for a while and was overcooked to start with. Service was extremely slow (reservation for 12PM, food arrived at 12:45PM and the restaurant certainly wasn't full) and our waiter didn't even come by to offer additional water top up. $75 for a glass of wine, a glass of water, a burger and a pasta dish seemed a bit excessive and with the service to match I was disappointed given everything I'd heard about this. Had been there many years ago and it was definitely not the high quality food and great staff that I remembered."

  • "This is definitely a great place to go for a romantic dinner. Not kid-friendly but I don't think anybody would want kids to be there as it is an adult atmosphere for sure. Great wine list and cute purse tables for the ladies."

  • "Between 2 of us we had... appetizers: calamari & foie gras... mains: seafood rissotto & wild boar meatballs... deserts: tiramisu & creme brulee. Excellent beer from France, capuccino, African herbal tea. Service was really great. Really nice fellow and got the timing of the courses just right; not too slow and not too fast. Food overall was very good. Nit picks... wild boar meatballs would have been better with a little sear outside, they seemed almost steamed/boiled. Vanilla creme brulee was not firm enough nor did it have enough flavour, it was like a loose pudding. Table beside us got the tasting menu and it looked amazing. In hindsight that the best value given that we paid almost same price in the end for appies/main/desert."

  • "It was a very nice evening, with great selection of food. I was a bit disappointed with my Cod insalata, but lobster lasagna was perfect. My partner was happy with everything he's ordered. It is definitely one of the best places in Calgary for a fine dining."

  • "The restaurant has a wonderful, dim lit, romantic feel. The food is flavorful, ascetically pleasing, and eclectic. The selected wine pairings are done very well, and the service is some of the most personal, genuine, considerate yet unobtrusive that I have found anywhere. As someone who frequents fine dinning establishments, this was absolutely a top notch experience."

  • "Teatro offers a great high end meal service that comes at a cost. You can conservatively spend $150 for a meal for two, or easily above $500. Meal portions are a little small, but the food is delicious and the service is fantastic."

  • "We came back a few times in between our wedding - which was held at Teatro and now. However, the staff always go out of their way to make us feel at home , and with family. This time around we were even able to go down to the wine cellar for a few minutes and recreate one of our favorite pictures from our wedding."

  • "We purchased a gift certificate at a Silent Auction for a Tasting Menu paired with wine at Teatros. It was valued at $300 but we didn't have any idea what to expect. We were so impressed with the attentive service, cozy seating and amazing food. Every course brought a new surprise that never failed to impress. Between us we couldn't agree on our favorite course because they were all so impressive although the salted caramel ice cream was to die for. Wow. Overall, it was a fabulous night and one we hope to replicate in the future."
