We share several small plates, the better to sample all the interesting flavors. A scallop ceviche, was very fresh with satisfying coarse ground crunch of salt . The risotto was velvety yum with shrimp and saffron. The truffle fries are always a must.
I always joke that they might have an attractiveness code for the staff, because they are all handsome/beautiful and unique. Our meal was outstanding; the mussels and the calamari were fabulous. We rarely order calamari because restaurants do not know how to cook it properly. But Teatro cooks calamari to perfection. Ditto the mussels, which were served out of the shell in a wonderful aromatic broth. Our entrees of gnocchi and a carbonara special were also delicious and perfectly presented. For dessert, we shared a delicious panna cotta. Prices are moderate. Teatro is a wonderful restaurant with a beautiful, unusual decor (it was a former synagogue).
