A word from Tavro13
The historic 250 year old Old Swedes Inn has been reborn as Tavro 13, with acclaimed Chef Terence Feury helming the kitchen. The Colonial building at 1301 Kings Highway in Swedesboro, NJ hosts a variety of dining options, from a 55 seat fine-dining room, a lounge featuring live music, an expansive bar, and a banquet room ideal for private parties.

Chef Feury comes to Tavro after establishing himself as one of most lauded chefs in the Philadelphia area. A veteran of Le Bernardin in New York, Philadelphia’s Striped Bass, Ritz Carlton, and, most recently, Fork, Chef Feury has gained local, regional, and national accolades throughout his career including being named Philadelphia Magazine’s Best Chef in 2010 and being named a 2002 finalist for A James Beard Award, Mid-Atlantic region. The seasonally driven American cuisine will showcase the chef’s connection to local farmers, and provide a showcase for the talents of one of the region’s brightest culinary stars.

  • "While I've heard people complain about the price, it really was a great meal. Absolutely every dish was delicious. I'd rate it up with restaurants in Wilmington and Philly, yet it's nestled in a small town virtually in the country. I'm willing to pay the extra price for an excellent meal. It's a hidden gem, or the locals are not "into" it because it was far from packed on a Saturday night. When sat down there were only 5 tables dining, including us. When we finished our meal and left around 8:15, there was only one couple dining who had just arrived."

  • "Save the trip to Philly and go to Tavro13 for a nice night out with your spouse. Delicious food and excellent service. My only negative would be is that the tables are a bit too close together, so if you don't like hearing your neighbor's conversation you may want to pass, or go early before the dinning room gets busy."

  • "This is my third visit to Tavro 13. The cuisine is outstanding. On this visit in June I had the salad as an appetizer and salmon as an entrée. Both were perfectly prepared. The portion sizes are satisfying. Service is attentive yet unobtrusive. Background music is pleasing. I love the black and white room colors with the red leather corner banquette seats. Spend some time at the bar before dining. The cocktail selection is unique. In December I enjoyed the Clementina; in June I had the Treize, a perfect warm-weather cocktail. Tavro 13, with award-winning French chef Terrence Feury, is a gem in the heart of historic and romantic Swedesboro, New Jersey. "

The food is in cases of the appertizers OK but our main courses Veal and Lamb were basic. The wine list is terrible and the prices remain high. Sorry we wont be coming back."

  • "So disappointed on this visit to Tavro 13. We actually chose it for a special occasion because our last two meals here were memorable. The menu was very abbreviated, and not what was shown on the website. The noise level was deafening - a large party near us must have thought they were in a sports bar. The food - not nearly as good as previous dinners. Crab cakes were full of filler, and a nice piece of black sea bass was slightly overcooked. But, the great sauces and sides of past dinners were missing. Perhaps there has been a change in ownership, or Chef Fleury has left. The adjacent bar is lively, and there is a live band, so maybe that is the new direction for this restaurant. "

  • "Imagine that you have a good friend that is remarkable chef and has a beautiful home and you were invited over for brunch - that was our experience at Tavro13 (and no we do not know the chef but the staff made us feel like we were friends from the start). First time there and loved the food and the staff. Felt at home yet at a high quality restaurant all at the same time. The balance of service, excellent food and comfortable/welcoming atmosphere is a hard one to manage and they do it all while making it seem effortless. Highly recommend! And definitely try the chicken and waffles - the syrup is the secret ingredient!"

  • "Tavro 13 shares an entrance with noisy restaurant/bar on the other side of the hotel. Faux Pas #1 for a fine restaurant. For an establishment, where appetizers are in $15 and entrees $30 average range,the food and service are below average. They are in need of more polished waitstaff and not share the same hosts with the bar. The bathrooms are upstairs, unless you want to go to the bar lavatories, not the best situation , when the average patron is north of fifty. A return visit is unlikely."

  • "We had a great dinner at Tavro! The food was excellent! The waitress was very knowledgable about the menu and extremely pleasant! I also highly recommend the Clementini! Perfection. The only downside was my second Clementini was made by another bartender and it was not as good, still good, but not as good. The first one was perfect. Not sweet and very refreshing. Back to the food, all four of us had a very good meal. I opted for the primerib special, delish, both days that it took me to eat it. Will definitely return."

  • "We reserved ahead... We were put in a sunroom that was cold and near door with draft. Very disappointed on that. Also with reservations it said we had option of menu vs price fix.. That was not an option, but waitress did offer extra appetizer to help make up for it. Overall food was VERY good.. just had a few unexpected things. Would try again off of menu."

Having just moved from Philly's amazing restaurant scene, my expectations were limited for a small town restaurant. But Tavro 13 was exactly what we were looking for. Trendy/funky interior with a nice ambiance, although, the place was fairly empty for a Saturday night. We ate in the dining room, but there is a bar on the other side. The food was worth every penny, absolutely delicious - everyone was impressed but how good the food was. It's a great spot to take out of town guests to. It's on the pricier side but, again, very worth it."

  • "The menu is very niche & unusual, but that made it limiting to us, as not everyone was adventurous in their appetite. The lamb belly app is their signature dish, but it was so rich & indulgent that it ruined the rest of my meal. I should've went with the salmon or scallops, but decided that the Berkshire pork chop may be good. It tasted liked a giant piece of bacon, as it was overly smoked. The side dishes that accompanied the chop were better...roasted Brussels sprouts & peppered grits. Got tricked into ordering aqua panne water when we asked if we wanted spring of sparkling...don't like that feeling. The dessert was decent...housemade donuts. Ambiance was good...sleek & clean. Tables are very close together, though."

  • "We were impressed with the upscale ambience and updated menu selections available now in this nicely renovated Old Swede's Inn location in the heart of Swedesboro. We had a delightful meal from appetizers through dessert with everything served at the perfect temperature. We appreciated the willingness of the staff to substitute potatoes for the salad on the steak special for my husband and serving the salad separately prior to our entrée. My fish was cooked perfectly and enhanced with the accompanying vegetables. We thoroughly enjoyed the small, warm, sugary doughnuts and sauce for dessert. We can't wait to come back."

  • "Planned a romantic dinner for 2. Seating was terrible. They try to squeeze in as many patrons as possible but in doing so it was extremely cramped. Tables on either side of ours were inches away. Their conversation was ours. No privacy. Service from waitress was extremely poor. She told us she would bring bread shortly after being seated. Finally asked for it when meals arrived. There was no checking in with us to see if we needed anything throughout our meal. Never asked if we'd like a second drink from bar. We had more attention from the people clearing the table. Totally unimpressed with the whole experience. We get better service from chains. Manager asked our opinion which we offered but at that point the night was wasted. Never again!"

  • "We love Tavro and have been here multiple times. Each time the food has been fantastic, the staff attentive and the ambience hip. We were able to get a last minute reservation for Valentine's Day. My only criticism is that because of the last minute request we were seated in the bar area which got a little crowded this particular evening. This is why I gave it the higher noise rating. The main dining room is fine. I highly recommend Tavro 13!"

  • "My fiancé and I went early to have a few cocktails. The girls standing at the check in area were busy but one asked for my name and said she would check us in. At 8:30, our reservation time, I checked on our table and was told it would be a few minutes. We were seated at 9. The dining area seemed crowded and the noise level was high. The tables were very small and were spaced just about a foot apart so we could clearly hear couple's conversations on either side of us. Our server was polite and attentive but we had to ask for bread. The only positive of the evening was that the food tasted very good. Prices for drinks and food were very high, which I do not mind paying but the overall experience has to be a lot better!"

  • "Had Valentine's dinner at Tavro 13 and had excellent meals (we highly recommend the scallops) with exceptional service. This is a great spot to go as an alternative to going into the city for that upper shelf dining experience. The dishes are unique and extremely well presented. We would also recommend their specialty cocktail list. The seating is comfortable and decor upscale."

  • "We made a reservation on Open Table - when we arrived, we were immediately sat...but in the bar area. we asked the hostess if there were any tables in the dining area as this was a long over due date night, and were looking for something a little more "date night". The bar was pretty dark and fortunate for us got to listen to justin beiber and beyonce. The hostess said that it was packed in there and that was it. Oh well. Our waiter was great! We had some questions about the menu, and he described everything. When the food came out - it was even better than expected. Just a note, we ordered off the regular menu, not the bar menu. We ordered two apps, the rib eye special and the trout. Everything was mouth watering."

  • "Everything was great at Tavro. The four of us were promptly seated at a lovely table near the fireplace, and the hostess offered to take our coats, which is always nice. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the Gnocchi, Trout, Branzino, and a cheese plate. Our friends had the crab appetizer (the name escapes me), Trout, and NY Strip. My only critique was with the trout - the remoulade was a bit overpowering for the other ingredients. However, clearly not enough of a complaint to lose a perfect rating here. Anyway, the staff were near flawless, paying attention to those little details that separate good from great. Jenna was superb. The bar area was thriving - I hope to come back sometime soon!"

We were disappointed with our limited choices and the seating that we left without even ordering. We went around the corner to the Rode's Fireside Inn which was a better value with a nice menu selection."
