Diner Reviews
  • "Keeping in mind that this is technically a chain restaurant (albeit more upscale), the food isn't bad, and the drinks are decent. With that said, I wasn't especially blown away by anything we ate. We met another couple and we each ordered a pizza to share. The pizza's were good, but there was no "wow" factor. We would most likely go back, there were some pretty tasty sounding entrees that I wouldn't mind trying, and the location and parking are very convenient. This isn't a fancy night out by any means, but if you're looking for a good, relatively inexpensive meal, this works."

  • "Food was very good. The portions of chicken parmesan were HUGE! The teenagers we had with us could only eat 1/4 of what was given. Service was excellent. Wish we had been seated in a quieter area though. We've dined there before and will again."

  • "Tavolino's is awesome. The staff is always prompt and quick with refills and taking away excess plates. Food is amazing. This was first time my meal was only ok. I had the Sicilian vegetable pizza. The pizza was very good but the olives just made the entire pizza taste salty which I did not like. Everything else was amazing."

  • "I feel that we visit here more often than anywhere else in the area and I'm running out of ways to say: We really like it here. Interesting menu choices and old favorites, plus there is always a bargain or two to be found on the wine list. And only 15 minutes frm home. How can you beat that?"

  • "A great place for middle-aged adults going out to dinner with friends--warm ambience, great drinks, prompt service, and decent food. My tablemates enjoyed their food, but mine was clearly was heated up from the fridge (cold in the middle, color and consistency of leftovers). Still, we enjoyed the evening and would return. They are excellent about food allergies too."

  • "Had another wonderful dinner at Tavolino's Westborough. Aleksander was an attentive and knowledgeable server; food was outstanding as always. Love the spinach salad and the veal saltimbocca. Can't wait for the outdoor patio to open!"

  • "Seated at 5:00. Greeted by a friendly/knowledgeable server. Not rushed at all. Meals had two sizes. We had the smaller – generous. Salads – good and fresh. Chicken Masala w/ spaghetti was generous. Could have used more Masala sauce. Mini desserts just enough to satisfy a sweet tooth. The bill – quite reasonable. Service – impeccable. The only annoyance – noise. When seated it was fine. As the restaurant filled it got noisier. A party of six was so noisy we could not hear ourselves think."

  • "Food was great but it is noisy and hard to talk to each other"

  • "I have been to the Foxboro location many times so I figured I would tryout this one. I was bot disappointed. I made a reservation for a party of six. I showed up a little early and our table was waiting even though there was an hour wait and we were a few minutes early. Food was excellent and the service was great. We were celebrating a birthday and she got a flower with dessert."

  • "This was our second visit to Tavolino's in Westborough, and both times we had the exact same experience... the food was absolutely delicious, but the restaurant is extremely loud and noisy. We could barely hear the waitress recite the specials, and had difficulty carrying on a conversation at our table. Each time we were seated at opposite sides of the restaurant, so it does not appear to be specific to seating location. The walls just seem to be made of material that causes sound to bounce off and amplify... there were no particularly loud parties around us, but the noise level definitely impacts the overall dining experience. This is unfortunate, because the food was superb on both occasions."

  • "There are some very good things about this restaurant. When we arrived on a busy Saturday evening our table was ready. Our server was very good...attentive and friendly. Drinks generous. The food itself was well prepared and served in good order. Fair prices. This all said the noise in the place was awful. We could barely have a conversation much of the time. And take heed, if you order one of the large plates you may get enough food for a family of four. My veal parm was excellent and prepared exactly as I asked. But like a side of the calf...I'd say that if you are ordering a dish with pasta to select the small plate. My wife did and that was ample. I wish restaurants could do what railroads do with quiet cars. Try a quiet room."

  • "We ordered salads for appetizer. Both were excellent. I ordered chicken parmesan small dish. That was excellent. My husband ordered the petite steak. It was way over cooked and very tuff. He was very disappointed."

  • "Your wine list is notable; it would be more so if you'd keep the listed wines in stock! Other than that, the dining experience was great."

  • "The menu is varied, the food delicious and the portions more than generous. My husband and I split the Autumn Salad which was plenty large for a side salad (and very tasty). My husband ended up taking half his chicken parm meal home and it was an entire second meal. My BBQ chicken pizza had so many (interesting) toppings that two slices were a filling meal (and I usually eat at least half my pizza). The lamb shank, filet mignon and other meals we've had recently also have great flavor. The frenchfries are great. They have mini dessert options which is a nice feature for those who want a small taste, rather than big dessert. The atmosphere on Saturday night was busy (reservations needed) but service was great. We will definitely be back"

  • "We dined as a foursome this particular Friday evening hoping to enjoy a delicious Lenten meal. As usual, Tavolino hit a home run. We all ordered different seafood dishes and there wasn't a bite left on the plates. The appetizer of fried artichokes was a delicious beginning as was the Panzanella Salad on the "specials" menu. The bar order was served as requested. We passed on the dessert menu and ordered coffee and cappuccino. Cappuccino's were perfect, coffee was served at room temp--not good! Reason not rated outstanding is this evening we felt the service was a bit slow. Although we have enjoyed this particular server in the past, (attentive, knows menu and styles, we were having difficulty understanding his questions and comments."

  • "We go to Tavolino's alot! And we are never disappointed! Friday's dinner was no exception. The scallops from the special's menu were perfectly cooked and scrumptious. The wine (Sondraia) was fabulous, but above all was the hospitality of the people who work there. They really make the evening special! Great fun, and a great way to unwind."

  • "The food was great, as always, and our waiter was attentive without being invasive. I can't really think of a better restaurant for the whole family for a better quality meal. The menu ranges from pub style options to brick oven pizza to lamb dishes and traditional Italian fair. Good for a special occasion with my wife, or a fun family dinner with the kids."

  • "I've been to Tavolino several times, and the food is almost always excellent. This time I had something from the "special" menu, a lamb ragout with gnocchi. It was tasty but dry, as though it had been sitting around in a pot for a while. There were only a few pieces of lamb, and I thought for $25 it should have been better. For dessert I had the molten chocolate cake which was really excellent. My friend had the mini trio of desserts which were good, although the tiramisu had no cake in it. As a real Italian, she said a tiramisu always has a little layer of cake. It was more of a mousse. Since there were just 2 of us, they first sat us at this miniscule table, and I asked to be moved because the table was so tiny and cramped."

  • "Last night my wife and I enjoyed dinner at Tavolino's in Westborough along with 4 of our friends. We had been there once before an knew we would be back. We had a Groupon for 4 that my wife bought for $66 and upon receipt they took $109 dollars of the final bill saving us $43 dollars. Pretty nice... Anyway, the food was great appetizers of calamari and crab cakes were phenomenal and our different dinners of veal, steak and fish were all 5 star. Our waitress was perfect. We would definitely go again."

  • "Wife was very impressed with her gluten free BBQ chicken pizza. I ordered the lamb shank which was quite fatty and gristly. This is a dish I order pretty often when I dine out and this wasn't up to the quality of other restaurants I have visited. The side dishes were very good. I would rate 5/10"

  • "Tavolino's never fails to impress. My husband and I went for Valentine's dinner and not only was the service & food perfect, the ambiance was very pleasant. It wasn't overly crowded as other places tend to get (due to reservation overbooking). The complimentary caprese salad bites & chocolate-dipped strawberries were a very nice touch!"

  • "This is becoming one of our family's favorite occasion restaurants. The dishes are usually imaginative and always delicious. On Valentine's Day we started with the calamari appetizer, maybe a bit large for two (but we brought some home) . Then we had the steak tips and pistachio encrusted salmon, both great. I asked for the salmon medium rare and it was perfect. Our server was attentive and patient. What impressed us with him was that there was a young couple at the table next to us, too young to even order drinks, and their order was simply salads, one pizza, and soft drinks. He was as attentive to them as to us, even though he wasn't going to run up a big tip. But it made a very nice occasion for them."

  • "The food was great the server was great, the ambiance could have been better. We were there for Valentines Day with another couple, we all enjoyed everything. We would come back again and we would tell our friends. We appreciated the little things that were done like the cheese, tomato, basil on a stick and the chocolate covered strawberries. We had the trio for dessert and we were not impressed with the tiramisu."

  • "Westborough Tavolino's is a cool neighborhood gem! The staff all go above and beyond to welcome everyone, and provide a friendly atmosphere, excellent service, and delicious and creative food at a fair price. Anthony D (one of the key managers) and the entire team at Tavolino's really do an excellent job. We went to their 'Soprano's Dinner/Wine event' about 2 years ago, and it was fabulous... You should check it out for a casual meal or special event!"

  • "A Groupon brought us here, but we will be back! The staff anticipated our needs -- from choice of table to refilling water. Haven't seen anticipatory service in ... decades? Food was delicious, and the 4-course special for $25 was a nice deal. Our stuffed pepper appetizer, my spinach salad, chicken marsala were all flavorful and delivered in a timely manner. Never met a cannoli I liked until Tavolino! Great taste. Tiramisu also very good. Decent red wine selections. Waitress was both efficient and caring. Leftovers two nights later still excellent. Only reason I didn't give food five stars was coffee -- decaf was on bitter side of dark roast although it was a fresh pot. Get table away from pizza station, rest rooms."

  • "Not a bad restaurant. But it's just not quite there on many fronts. First, it's expensive for the quality of the food. And several times our meat has been under cooked which is just such a drag to deal with. The atmosphere at the bar area is pretty good, but the dining room is dark and stale, particularly in the back area. My thought on whether to recommend this or not is really based on what the goal is. If good value is the goal, this isn't the place. But if convenience and good food w/o regard to price is the goal, then this isn't a bad spot to choose."

  • "As first time customers to Tavolino we we're impressed with the food & wine , which were excellent! Alexander our waiter Provided very fine service to our group. Prior to leaving the restaurant the manager introduced himself and handed us a card good for a discount the next time we dined at Tavolino. All in all a great dining experience and recommended!!!"

  • "I can never find a bad word to say about Tavolino. They cover a broad range of Italian from pizza to chicken parm to risottos and further. Also there is always a bargain or two on their wine list (and their wine mark-ups are surprisingly low throughout)! this time I opted for a large piece of veal parmesan which was terrific, but my mouth was watering over the lamnb shank across the table. It was a large shank, with a crunchy crust on the outside and tender inside, served with seasoned brsussel sprouts - wow!"

  • "I have been to Tavolinos dozens of times but will not be returning back. We waited for a table (after making a reservation) for over 15 minutes while the host continued to sit people with reservations and same party size before us. The food was Medicore at best. Service was slow."
