Tavolino RistoranteConsistently excellent...Tavolino remains a favorite. The quality and taste has reamined consistent over time. I can highly recommend Tavolino.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding grilled chickenI don't usually order grilled chicken at an Italian restaurant but the server recommended it highly and she was dead on the money. Got to be in the top five I've ever had. My son and the ravioli zucca which was also excellent. To top it off the tiramisu rivaled what I have had in Milan. We don't live in Tucson but we'll be back next time we're in town. Too bad Tavolino isn't in NorCal!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first visit toThis was our first visit to Tavolino since it moved from its previous location a few years ago. Larger, noisier space, but nice ambiance.
Our server Billy was fantastic: friendly, attentive and informative. The only drawback was that some of his helpers didn't seem in synch with Billy's service rhythm or our dining pace.
The whole menu looked outstanding so I put the decisions in our server's hands. I said that the meal was completely up to him. After a simple but delicious green salad, our meals came hot and delightfully perfect. His choices, including the paired wine, were excellent. His choices (barely) allowed for a chocolate dessert; delectably rich but not overwhelming.
Our next visit to Tavolino will be much sooner than our last!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMUp & coming neighborhood spotFrom a unassuming strip mall to a more upscale multi-use environment, this Italian eatery is working hard to gain destination status. It still has a way to go, but some of us who have known of it for years continue to support their efforts. An eclectic menu from multiple regions of Italy, ranging from pizza to spit roasted meats and seafood creations. Some turn out better than others, but not many of us know all of the country styles of Italian cooking. The wine list is all Italian as well. It is balanced and--for the most part--fairly priced. Service is generally good but can seem disinterested at times. The mussels appetizer is not yet ready for prime time. The cannellini beans are more like blanched than cooked. Just grade on the curve.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AM30th anniversary dinnerWonderful experience just down the street from our home. Good food, nice atmosphere and excellent service for our 30th wedding anniversary celebration.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food, Great ServiceOur first visit to Tavolino was wonderful. My husband and I had appetizers, beer and wine in the bar (we arrived during Happy Hour prices) and then were seated in the main restaurant area for dinner. Beet Ravioli is excellent. My husband had the Orecchiette Special which he loved (very generous portion). Prices are reasonable for amount of food you get. Great location in upscale Foothills neighborhood. Caters to all types of diners--wine enthuisasts sat next to us; couples, groups, families. Noise level was not a problem at all, even as the restaurant filled up later in the evening. Would definitely go again!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMSolid Italian restaurantTavolino is a solid choice for Italian dining. The menu includes all the usual options, plus wood-fired pizzas. Our burrata pizza was great, and it was followed by an excellent veal Milanese special. We particularly appreciate the veal's side dishes - fresh spinach and sliced tomatoes - a light and perfect compliment to a fried veal entree. The restaurant is attractive, and the wine menu is very extensive. We had one minor snafu, quickly rectified by our server, so overall the entire dining experience was great. Moreover, they take reservations on OpenTable!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth-the-trip Foothills DiningEverything about this restaurant is inviting. The decor is modern, well-lit and tasteful and the wait staff was helpful and professional.
But it is the food that keeps us coming back. Our last trip, we had the branzino (sea bass) and it was firm, flavorful and seasoned to perfection, served with broccolini, also seasoned unusually well. For dessert we had the Bonet, a rich, chocolate custard with amaretti, served with whipped cream and caramel sauce...words cannot describe how luscious it was, and it was perfect to split with my husband, but it's too good to share with the whole table. They also have outdoor dining, so appealing with our mild summer evenings.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways goodThe food and service are always good here. We would recommend this spot to anyone.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMpoor service. looked likepoor service. looked like waitress had too many tables.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food. A little priceyVery good food. A little pricey for what you get. Nice ambiance. Branzino is quite good. Should be about $5 less per entre. Not the value or quality of Vivace.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place! Always good foodGreat place! Always good food and service. First time there and definitely will return.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe butternut squash ravioliThe butternut squash ravioli was a rather blah dish and needed some more flavor. Veal was outstanding!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMarkTavolino's is a great Tucson restaurant. The pasta is really good. All of the items on the menu are good. I have eaten at Tavolinos many times including both lunches and dinners. Don't be afraid to try the specials. They are truly special. I ate there for lunch yesterday and tried the seafood pasta spciial...YUM! The Osso Buco is very tasty. It is quite a pleasant place to eat and ther serivice is also very good. If you try it, you will go back.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWe eat here at least onceWe eat here at least once or twice a month. It never disappoints. It offers the closest to real Italian food that we have found in the southwest. The burrata is wonderful, and the daily special is usually quite good. The wine list is primarily Italian, and the wine selection is well chosen and well priced. Service is usually excellent, too.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service was wonderful. The food and service was wonderful. One of the best in Tucson!!!!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always enjoy this restaurant. We always enjoy this restaurant. The service is great, food even better. Wonderful spot in Tucson.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe eat often at this restaurant. We eat often at this restaurant. This time, thanks to having a great table in the private, small dining room, our table of 6 could actually hear each other. This is not usual as the noise level is ordinarily deafening in the main dining room. Unless it's not crowded it's preferable to dine outside. The food is fairly reliable, though it sometimes veers toward too salty. The service is also reliable-friendly and efficient. I'm sure we'll return soon, and hopefully eat in the small dining room again.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Italian restaurant of 2013Just named Best Italian restaurant by Tucson Lifestyle magazine -- and well deserving of it! Food is distinctive without being strange. Lots of old stand-bys, lie Ossa Bucco, eggplant parmigiana, etc. Many dishes for Vegetarians, Vegans, etc. Whether I go with my husband for a cozy dinner or meet gal pals there for lunch, the food is consistently good. Ditto for service.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWent to Tavolino's on a SaturdayWent to Tavolino's on a Saturday night. Had made a reservation and our party was seated right away, we did not have to wait. Service was prompt and courteous. We all ordered salads and pasta entrees, which were excellent. Tiramisu was absolutely wonderful! Great food and ambiance.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMNoisy, like a sports bar! This is a beautiful restaurant. The location is great. The food is very good. The staff knew just when you needed service. Here is the problem. Our reservation was at 6. We went early enough to enjoy a pleasant dinner. By 7 the restaurant was full, and that is wonderful for the restaurant. But, it was so very loud. The place literally sounded as loud as a sports bar!. Sit outside if you want a romantic dinner, or to be able to hear your friends. The overall noise kind of made the experience disappointing.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding authentic ItalianOutstanding authentic Italian food! Our dinner was superb. It began with the appetizer of baratta, tomato and prosciutto. I ordered the penne with sausage and mushroom and my wife had the Branzino. All were excellent! We asked the waitress to help us select glasses of wine to complement our dishes. She was amazing and suggested two different Italian reds that were perfect accompaniments.
Upscale Italian in Tucson does not get any better than this!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWe really enjoyed our "ladiesWe really enjoyed our "ladies lunch". Went with friends and we all absolutely loved it. Are going back next Saturday.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food - very popularExcellent food - very popular place. Can be noisy if full but this time it was not as difficult to converse.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThere were six of us. TheThere were six of us. The noise level was so "energetic" that it was hard to talk - even with a round table in a corner. The food and service were wonderful.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMProbably deserves five starsProbably deserves five stars for its authentic upscale Italian food. We shared the baratta appetizer which was superb. We also had the branzino which was fresh, delicious and outstanding. On other occasions we have had pasta which is always excellent. Drinks are generously poured and there is a great selection of wines by the glass. We were there on a Tuesday night and the place was quite busy. Servers were running around and it was quite hectic. Amazingly service was quite efficient, but they seemed to be understaffed.
Overall love this place!12/4/2012 12:00:00 AM
