A word from Tavola
The premise for this new eatery “Tavola” (Table in Italian) is based on regional italian fare, mainly Puglian, Roman and Sicilian.

Tavola was inspired by, owner, Nick Accardi’s extensive travels to these regions, especially the town of Castelvetrano, the source of Nick’s family roots. With the help of his relative chefs, Nick has secured quality regional ingredients, including single estate castelvetrano olives and extra virgin olive oil, which he exclusively imports and can be purchased at Tavola.

Featuring two wood-burning ovens specially handcrafted in Naples, Italy using vesuvio volcanic clay. Having 2 ovens allows for the possibility to cook at more than one temperature. The Pizza oven burns at 900 degrees, while the other can operate at a second temperature for meats, fish and vegetables.

Diner Reviews
  • "Tavola looked like one of the few genuine Italian restaurants that'd I'd visited to whilst working in Italy over many years. The interior decor didn't look contrived but more independent. The menu isn't vast like other restaurants either, what was on it was good looking and v. tasty. I'd highly recommend Tavola if you can get a booking ( IT"S ALWAYS BUSY!! )"

  • "One of the best meals we had in NYC. Everything about the meal was excellent - the bread, the Caesar salad, the grilled calamari, the Spaghettini Vongole, spaghetti and meatballs, and the lasagna. Fresh flavors - all well prepared. We ate every last bite. The wine the waiter recommended was excellent too - a montepulciano and the nero d'avola. Our waiter was excellent- friendly, knowledgeable, professional and not at all arrogant (which sometimes can be a problem in NYC). The only negative was that our very small table was right near the hot pizza ovens. Overall- a great dining experience. Charming place with a wonderful staff."

  • "Food was delicious and came quickly. Noise level wasn't bad, you could have a conversation without shouting. Lighting was a little dim for lunchtime though."

  • "Needed a place near MSG. Daughter recommended and we were more than pleased. Great food--fast, inexpensive, nice atmosphere, good buzz. Service could have been a smidge friendlier, but was attentive. Salmon and calamari and branzino were delish--guess that means I recommend eating fish at Tavola!"

  • "After perusing reviews we decided to try Tavola before we move out of the neighborhood. We were seated immediately at the long table. The noise level immediately hit me. I had to try the arugula salad and the meatballs. The salad was too salty, but lacked flavor. The meatballs also lacked spice. I shared the eggplant, which was not very tasty either. The slices were baked rather than breaded, and again, it was salty, but not flavorful. I tasted the pizza from another diner, and another big disappointment! Crust doughy, too thick, and the cheese was congealed into rubbery blobs. We skipped the desserts. Would have had the chocolate item, but it was with cherry, so that does not agree with my taste. Sorry, but it just doesn't cut it."

  • "I read about Tavola on yelp and was thrilled with everything about this place. It is an unpretentious reasonably priced restaurant that is off the beaten path. Everything we had was delicious, well prepared and expertly served. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. The pasta and fish dishes that my husband and I shared were perfectly cooked and delicious. Our friends ordered the filet and the Branzino and I can honestly say there wasn't a morsel of food left on anyone's plate! The ricotta cheesecake was one of the best I have ever had. The only relatively weak part of the meal was the cannoli which just lacked flavor. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and truly can't wait to return! I will certainly visit Tavola anytime I am back in the city."

  • "Love the space and the food is delicious! We sat at communal table, which was fine. The noise level made it hard to hear, but it was so busy that the energy in the restaurant was magnetic. The Burrata melted in your mouth, and the eggplant pasta dish was yummy. We have the gluten free penne and everyone at the table enjoyed, even those who are not gluten free. My husband said their pizza was awesome."

  • "Tavola has really good food and was great for an office lunch. We were in and out of there in one hour and never felt rushed. The service was attentive. Only problem is some people had trouble hearing. It was packed so you may want to make a reservation if you are a large group."

  • "We brought we had hit a gem with this place when we walked in. But we soon realized that this place was a swing-and-a-miss. It was hot as hell inside, the waiters were snooty and the food... Well let's just say that our lasagna was so burned around the edges it took five minutes to chew. I was sadly disappointed. My Parma pizza was just okay, as were the grilled sardines. Not the freshest tasting I've ever had. They need to do something about that air conditioning. I did love the Italian sparking water, though. This place could be great with a few improvements."

  • "If you live in Midtown West, this is a great neighborhood spot for brick oven pizza."

  • "The pizza here is simply heavenly. When I have visited in the past (during the daytime) the service has been helpful and attentive. However, we found the dinner staff to be almost hostile. Regardless of having a reservation, they will not seat you until everyone has arrived, even if there are plenty of table open. First courses and pizza arrived virtually at the same time as if they were trying to get us out as soon as possible. Anyway, toughen up your skin and go, as the pizza is among the best in Manhattan."

  • "On a Tuesday night, we had an early dinner at Tavola and enjoyed the food very much. As time went the restaurant was starting to fill up. For entrees we had Eggplant Parmigiana and Casarecce Alla Norma Sicilian Eggplant (pasta with eggplant, plum tomatoes, basis and shaved riccotta salata). Both were very good. For dessert we had Gelato Pistachio Crushed Amaretti ... it was fantastic! While the food was really good, the service was not. The waiter acted like he did not want to be there, failed to tell us the nightly specials and felt like he rushed us through our dinner (he gave me the check before we even finished dessert). I would definitely go back to the restaurant and just hope I get a different waiter."

  • "Nine of us went for lunch to take a colleague out. It was our first time there and the neighborhood has a dearth of decent restaurants. We had a table down the center of this narrow gem. Mozzarella in the caprese salad must have been made an hour before- fresh and creamy. The pizzas made in an oven made from volcanic rock were wonderful. Lots of interesting choices of toppings with crispy crusts and tasty sauce. I will definitely go back for more."

  • "A great, very casual neighborhood Italian restaurant. Lively atmosphere with good energy. The pastas are simple and fresh and very generous on the garlic (which suited us well). Service is cordial and efficient. "

  • "We had a great waiter who was charming and knew the menu. The wine was well priced. Even though the restaurant was packed the food came in perfect time. The only thing is the table was small for three people and it was hard to find room for our dinner plates. but overall, it was excellent."

  • "My wife and I tried this place for a pre-theater dinner and it was terrific -- great food, great service and a terrific looking place. The wood-fired pizza and grilled sausage were both fantastic."

  • "Not much over in the far West 30s, so Tavola was a wonderful surprise. My lunch partner and I split a wood-oven pizza with wild boar sausage and an amazing arugula/asparagus salad. More than ample for two, very well priced, warm service, pleasant ambiance. I would definitely return...close enough to the Theater District to make it a great Saturday night destination."

  • "Excellent food - homemade bread, beet salad, lasagna. Service was good as well, although server never let us know they had daily specials. A bit noisy and crowded, but was very NYC. Also, it was nice they had 1/2 price on certain wines until 6:30 p.m."

  • " I really enjoyed the grilled Portugese sardines and the grilled branzino (although I would have liked the the restaurant to filet the fish). For dessert we had frozen pistachio gelato covered in chocolate and with crushed amaretto cookiehat cookie bits on top that was awesome. I'm looking forward to returning snd yrying the chef's special pasta dish with pesto, tomatoes and anchovies plus many other delicious looking dishes we saw coming out of the kitchen."

  • "This was our second time at Tavola, and we love the food, but arrived during Happy Hour. The only thing we could order was the pizza, but the wine was 1/2 off the price. We stayed long enough to then order food and it was delicious. This is a great NYC restaurant that is priced fairly and has good food."
