Enjoy simple classic fare such as mussels and fries or a pulled pork sandwich in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Top it off with a sinful serving of sticky toffee pudding. Newly reopened, the tavern is already a huge hit with the downtown professional crowd. A full bar, cocktails, wine and beers awaits.

  • "Nice change in downtown, old interior gives a nice touch. Food was delicious. Packed at night and weekends so service a bit slow but nothing to disturb ur night."

  • "I had to choose a restaurant to take a Spanish friend and I didn't have a clue of where to take him. Then, I got recommended this place. 20's style, and fine food. We both got the Sunday Roast and got a US shiraz with it. What a great choice. Portions where generous and the service was excelent. I'm looking forward to go back."

  • "Went for the Sunday roast beef, and it was excellent. All the food was very good, from the bread (Hof Kelsten) to the house made horseradish. No room for dessert, unfortunately, as the list looked great. Definitely will return. The noise level is somewhat high, as one of my party is sensitive to that, but many and perhaps most would be bothered by this."

  • "C'est une place charmante qui a gardé son cadre d'antan avec ses grands miroirs. La nourriture était excellente dans le genre British des années 30. La carte des scotchs est très adéquate et le service impeccable. Le seul inconvénient est que la place est très bruyante."

  • "Great service, vibrant rustic atmosphere specially at the bar."

  • "Great food, excellent drinks, pub fun atmosphere however it is expensive and the service needs some lessons in nice."

  • "It was a very nice evening until the waiter came back to our table asking for more tip...never seen that, never...very bad...in fact I still don't understand how somebody can do that Too bad"

  • "Really great find! Food was delicious, loved the atmosphere of the place, old style and the bathroom was the best I've ever been in!! Fast and friendly service, would definitely go back!"

  • "Taverne Dominion Square is a friendly lunch bar with old fashioned pub charm. I like the atmosphere. Drinks at the bar are very enjoyable. They always have a 'special' of the day. I highly recommend the Chicken Salad - oven roasted chicken on a salad - delicious. Their fish and chips on Fridays are delicious as is their Duck on Thursday!"

  • "Rock Cornish hen for 2 is outstanding, juicy with loads of roasted veggies. Braised beef very good. Martinis a bit small! Paris Brest for dessert very very good. Waitstaff very attentive."

  • "Excellent food, service and ambience! We could only get a reservation for 4:45 prior to the hockey game and so debated choosing another restaurant. So glad we didn't. It was packed by 5:15!"

  • "I wasn't sure what to expect when I made the reservations...didn't know anybody who had been there. Well, let me tell you this we were pleasantly surprised. The food was absolutely amazing, the service spectacular and the ambience outstanding. I will definitely tell all my friends. This is a for sure a must go to restaurant!"

  • "This was presented to me as an English authentic place. Somehow the ploughman's lunch did not seem to entice. I chose a fairly common in my opinion French confit (duck) and found it marvelous. I do not know if the beets coulis accompanying it was English French or Canadian but the result was palatable genius. I was hoping for something as authentic as the title. Great lunch (although for me anyway 5 times more expensive than I can afford)"

  • "I had actually heard Dominion Square Taverne was "overrated" but I have to say that I thought the food was delicious and so did my two friends. The decor was very appealing - gave off a twenties-inspired "speakeasy" vibe - and the menu had some interesting options. Very much enjoyed it and intend on going back."

  • "I took my partner out for dinner at Dominion Square Tavern for her birthday and we enjoyed our time very much. She had the mussels and I had the pulled pork. The mussels were really good, but the pulled pork was more like a pâté and significantly lacking BBQ sauce. Often times I find good restaurants distinguish themselves on the uniqueness of the BBQ sauce they create for their dishes. In this case I was underwhelmed, but this is largely a matter of taste."

  • "I live in Boston, and was making a to-do list for Montreal when I came upon Taverne Square Dominion in a magazine. Two things drew me to it - the history and the absinthe. The ambiance was warm and inviting, the food was out of this world (specifically the bone marrow and cornish hen), and the service was superb. Furthermore, it's in an area surrounded by higher end shopping..... perfect for date night. Final word? Amazing."

  • "Came here to eat before going to a concert at the Bell Centre. The service was excellent, waitress was very friendly and knowledgable. Food was great and prices were very reasonable. The cocktails were fantastic. The atmosphere was really enjoyable, beautiful old world charm, surprisingly cozy feeling for a seemingly large restaurant. Will definitely be my first choice for a good meal and cocktails before a show."

  • "I often come here and usually go for the cod, and tomato salad, which are both excellent. This time I decided to live dangerously and took the mussels and fries and the green watercress and dill salad. I did not go wrong - the mussels were good, and the soup was nice for a cold night. But the fries were the real stand-out - amazing! The salad was good with a nice tart vinaigrette but a little bit too salty this time. It was better the last time I had it. We were too full for dessert but I usually have the donuts!"

  • "I found the lack of care and nonchalant attitude of the staff at this place astonishing. We had finished our mains for about fifteen minutes maybe more until someone decided to remove our plates; staff kept passing by our table and couldn't seem to notice 4 empty plates or empty water glasses or anything at all, it was actually laughable. Our "waitress" completely vanished hence we had to wait forever to get the bill from another one of course after asking. Staff seems like they are having a good ol time, could not care less about customer care or satisfaction. The food was good. Go there to party have drinks but not for a special dining experience."

  • "We were recommended this place from a friend. We had a over night layover and wanted to experience Montréal in a short period of time. This place was the perfect pick! It will be very hard for us to go anywhere else next time we are in Montréal- the service was overall amazing, from the hostess to our waiter. The atmosphere is a bit loud, but we asked to be moved to a booth in the back to which was much better. The food is incredible, great prices. We had the braised beef with cheddar mashed potatoes- was decadently delicious. I strongly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Montréal for the first time and looking for to experience Montréal at its finest."

  • "We had a wonderful meal on an evening prior to going to a hockey game. Our experience was awesome. This pub/tavern is a must see when visiting Montreal. It's in a great location, and I can't say enough about the atmosphere and the food. The old fashioned ambience is really neat and the staff are very courteous and well-trained. I had a delicious bowl of minestrone soup with mussels as a starter which was perfect for the cold evening. Then, baked cod which was fantastic! My husband really enjoyed the homemade sausage in the bangers and mash as well. We liked the fact that we could get very high end food, and it wasn't pretentious at all, we had our game jerseys on and felt completely at home! Only drawback was lack of wine by the glass!"

  • "Just going through the door..the place is a wonderful thing to look at. Received very well at front and led to wait for our table at the bar. The bar and bar area are worth a visit, even not to eat. Bartenders very social and drinks made very well. All of our dinners were very delicious and the service was spot on. Look forward to going back when I visit….and I will just sit at the bar."

  • "I came here late one night manyonrhs ago and had one of the best meals I have ever had. So good I took my gf from Toronto to Montreal just to relive that meal. Definitely worth the trip. I am not a fan of him but the homemade gin and tonic is amazing and the good was cooked perfectly. Thank you very much and I will recommend this restaurant to who ever comes."

  • "This restaurant puts a French spin on English standards. If you like old fashioned drinks and a good selection of scotch, this place is for you. It can be a bit loud and it's best to have a reservation - I find that service is always better if you get an earlier reservation since it becomes quite busy late in the evening. My favourite is the pan fried cod, with the salad (either the spinach watercress or the bacon tomato salad). The fresh donuts are the way to go if you're going to have a dessert - otherwise they aren't that spectacular. However, this time we had a spice cake with pumpkin ice cream and applesauce that was the dessert special - that was definitely outstanding. If more desserts were like that I'd order it more often."

  • "The place is beautiful and the service excellent but the food was not consistently amazing. The first time I went, I had a bigger group which allowed us to discover the menu. For what it is worth, the seasoning left something to be desired."
