Diner Reviews
  • "We had a group of 5 on a Saturday night. Great food, great fun! Everything was hot and tasty. Highly recommend. Wear earplugs it's loud."

  • "Staying at Hyatt, easy walking distance, good food, amazing service from our waiter who also danced on tables, corkage fee a bit high. Danced around the restaurant, met the people at the tables next to us, seemed like what you would find in a small family restaurant in Greece but on a bigger scale. A night to remember with a great group of people."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner. Food was good and ambience was entertaining. Unlike I read online, there eas no $50 charge per person. Looks like a great never for large parties celebrating birthdays etc. good for groups looking to get rowdy! However children were entertained also. Music is loud Greek to Greek techno."

  • "We were sitting right next to the path for people to walk, which is fine. Then they started dancing and bumping the table, numerous times. It took 45 mins to get our food. Our server was nice and friendly and tried to keep updating us. My entree was less than what I expected for the amount money. Desert was really good, and I might go back just for a slice of cake at the bar. We were there for my boyfriends birthday, and I couldn't talk to him without yelling, other than for a slice of cake at the bar, I won't be dining here again."

  • "Service was very awkward. Server was quiet and not very attentve. I asked for his opinion between two appetizers, and he told me "these are good". Majority of the staff was watching the World Cup I guess because Greece was playing, and thus, it was difficult to get anyones attention when we needed something. Our calamari was tough and was served without any sauce. A few of our side dishes served with our entrees were cold when served. My parents were in town and I raved about this restaurant to them, and overall, i think we were all dissappointed. We will try again, but I just hope the service is improved next time."

  • "We were a ten top, with only 1 server so everything went very slow. The table next to me was 8 people and they had 2 servers. They sat down 15 minutes after me and were done before I was."

  • "Great food, fun, lively environment. Great for sharing food, huge portion."

  • "Our meal was delicious from start to finish, from the hand muddled hummus with pita to the saganaki and grilled octopus to the generously portioned grouper plaka. The atmosphere was festive and fun."

  • "We spent our anniversary dinner here and the food was amazing. After living in Chicago for many years and dining in Greek Town numerous times we were more than pleased. We had two amazing servers and the entertainment was awesome."

  • "I understand they are trying to provide an original Greek experience, however they tried to seat us at a table with people standing barefoot on it. The music was loud rap music like a night club so we asked to sit outside. The waiter never brought ketchup after asking 3times and never check on our drinks. The food was good, but the overall experience will prevent me and my husband from returning and/or recommending it to others."

  • "I would travel again to orlando area only to experience eating here again. Disney etc., would have to take a back seat. It was our son's 21st birthday and the staff was exceptional, the food was amazing, everyone danced on the tables with the encouragement of the belly dancer. Don't miss this restaraunt when you go to orlando. If there's a wait, it's worth it!"

  • "Boy what a disappointment this place turned out to be!! Our service was poor and the food was too. I've never heard of a gyro sandwich having pork meat?? As many others have stated the best part of the meal was the hummus. We went fairly late when there weren't a lot of diners and our waitress just couldn't seem to get anything right. An hour and a half later we were dissatisfied with our meals and service. Please save your time and money. There are a host of better places to choose from in Orlando. Bosphorous for turkish is great. We also ate at Roy's, Tommy Bahamas and Cafe Tu Tu Tango and enjoyed them all. Taverna Opa simply did not make the cut!!"

  • "Fun, lively restaurant. The food is good, too. We were a group of 7, some of us very hungry, some not so much. This was the perfect answer with small and large plates, sharing or not. Very moderately priced"

  • "The atmosphere was great. I was very disappointed with the Red Snapper. I ended up switching meals with my boyfriend and he didn't eat much of it either. The hummus is the best! The music and belly dancer was great fun! "

  • "A large group of us (16 people) went for my sister's bachelorette party dinner before going out at around 4 PM. Everyone had an amazing time. The service was great as was the food. It was such a great place for the occasion. They had my sister get on stage and brought out shots for all of us. "

  • "Unfortunately, I can not rate Taverna Opa as a place I would return to. The music is WAY TOO loud. You can not even talk to the people you are eating with. This is totally unnecessary! You can't even hear the waitress explain the menu! The food was okay. The hummus which you crush you're own chickpeas was delicious and a novel way to serve it with the warm pita bread. The throwing of the napkins and belly dancing was a nice touch, although the napkins in the food was not a great idea! Having been to Greece, I must say that although Taverna Opa tries, it has missed the mark in a lot of areas. With some changes, it could be a good Greek place to go. But the first thing they have to do is lower the music!!!"

  • "The noise and dancing are crazy at this place, but if you sit outside you can ignore all that napkin throwing nonsense and eat their delicious food. For Orlando, this place is practically gourmet. Definitely a must go if you are vegetarian, because the vegetable mezzo dishes are top notch. "

  • "Service and food good, but overwhelmed by the noise. "

  • "The food at Opal was very good. We wereally 6 so we ended up going with the family style menu. After we had our appetizers we were full but we couldn't say no to everything else waiting for us. The lamb is especially good in this place with a mix of tender, juicy and crunchy. There was a belly dancer that kept the party going even though there were not that many patrons at the time we were there. Our waitress was especially attentive. "

  • " The appetizer platters were awesome, abundant and very well-prepared, the house wines were good, and the waiter was very helpful. A good time was had by all. However, prior experiences have been more "Greek/ethnic", offered more exotic entertainment & less of an experience of noisiness from overly loud music that drowned out our ability to talk with each other.at the table. When I called ahead to ask if they could alter the standard table arrangement a little differently to better accommodate our group of 10, they declined -- it seemed that this would not have been a problem in actuality. "

  • "The napkins on the floor are a slipping hazard. The napkins the dancer uses to wipe away her sweat are thrown down as well. That's just gross. The patrons dancing on the table is uncomfortable and quite frankly made me realize someone has probably danced on our table where my silverware was now sitting. Our waiter disappeared for most of the evening and we really just wanted our check to get out since we couldn't even hear our own thoughts anymore. The ambience is a good concept but it could be executed in a better way. The amount of people stuffed into this place was just unreal. Food was good, hummus was great. If I went back at all, I would sit outside in the heat before I sat inside again. "

  • "I was a first timer. It is AMAZING! I went with friends for my birthday and what a special birthday it was! The food, wine, and joyous spectacle you can't properly explain-you must experience it. My suggestion for new diners-don't wear high heels-flats are safer. I cannot wait to return!!! "

  • "good food, fun entertainment, wonderful staff, must go back!"

  • "Our party of 8, admittedly, had a great time till we got our check... Over 370.00$ This was a different kind of venue, very Greek, ethnic, but the prices are outlandish. I will come again, but with knowledge of prices adding up very quickly. This can only be for very special occasions..."
