Diner Reviews
  • "We had a great time at Opa. The music, belly dancer, paper 'rainfall' all created a fun experience. And the food is excellent. After a fabulous trip to Greece last year we're very picky about Greek food. And Opa measures up. We enjoyed several appetizers and shared 2 entrees with 4 people. It was plenty."

  • "We dined at Taverna Opa for my fiance's birthday with a group of 10. Belly dancing starts at 7pm, this is also when the restaurant gets extremely loud but, fun! If you don't like loud music and people dancing on tables- stay away! We had a great time dancing and and the food was very well seasoned. The negative- our waitress was terrible she passed everyone the wrong food, wasn't good about refilling our glasses or water/soda and took awhile to get everyone a menu. Also, THEY CHARGE YOU $2 PER PERSON IF YOU BRING IN YOUR OWN BIRTHDAY CAKE, this was ridiculous!!! Had I known I'd cut the cake myself and brought in my own plates! Other than that, it was a good time."

  • "The food has nothing to do with traditional greek food. Our waitress was very unfriendly and it took her 10 minutes to bring uns ketchup for our fries(very greek to serve fries with a gyro) .... by that time we were all finished. Never again!"

  • "An exciting dinner with an eclectic menu. Audience participation with the belly dancer was a lot of fun. They keep you in the Greek spirit and you'll enjoy every minute....and the meal too!"

  • "We had a great evening and one that will be most memorable. The food, the setting and the service was awesome."

  • "The service was poor, the server was not attentive. We wouldn't see her for a long time. She did not offer drinks just brought water to the table. Also we did not enjoy our visit as much this time because they sat us down by the bar and I made reservations a week prior. We got chairs that were weak to stand on and the tables were wobbling. The dancers did not come to is except to bring the dessert to the birthday girl on our table. We felt left out. This was my second visit, first visit was better because we were sitting inside closer to the middle part. I do not recommend sitting near the bar."

  • "I have been to Taverna Opa previously and quite frankly, preferred that experienced. The restaurant has a night-club vibe in the evenings, which made it difficult to hear the server and other diners at my table. The evening entertainment included a DJ, belly dancers and dancing on table tops- it did not seem all that safe given the diners partaking seemed to have been a few glasses of sangria in, but I guess that's Greek? The food was tasty and while I would go back for some of the homemade hummus- nice and garlicky. I personally would prefer the much quieter, more restaurant-feel of early evening on a Sunday."

  • "We come here every year with a big group during the Pet Expo. Everyone has a great time, the food is excellent, the wait staff does a great job of being fun and attentive. Inside is a very noisy, but that is part of the atmosphere."

  • "We were in Orlando visiting Universal and looked up Taverna Opa on OpenTable. What a lively night! Food was great! Lamb dishes were excellent. Fish was excellent. Belly Dancing on the tables is different! Kids loved it!"

  • "Lots of fun Greek elements - flaming cheese, mezze, Mythos, and dancing in the tables. But very loud, cigars on patio, and our waiter never came back for orders after appetizers. So very Greek."

  • "This was def a great place to rest before the comedy show on Sunday, awesome service. I normally don't like hummus but this restaurant's hummus is the best!"

  • "Although the entrees were amazing, the saganaki appetizer was very disappointing. It was also frustrating the number of times the server got Iced Tea and Coke confused...with our initial order and during refills. It appeared that she gave up as she just left a pitcher at the table midway through the meal."

  • "We had an absolute blast at Taverna Opa!! Food was terrific and there was plenty of it on all plates. The belly dancer and the rest of the staff were energetic and kept the entire crowd entertained! Lots of dancing on tables and throwing of napkins made the noise level tolerable. We were entertained and well fed and will certainly return!!"

  • "I've spent more than 6 months in Greece, and rarely find Greek restaurants in the US with authentic food. The Xoriatiki (village salad) came just like it does in a village in Greece, with deep red, ripe and delicious tomatoes. The mousaka was excellent, and the service was excellent. Highly recommended."

  • "We decided to go to Taverna Opa for a Singles Valintines night out. This place was fun, energetic, unique, and delicious. This is one of my new favorite places. I will deff be back. It is very kid and family friendly yet still fun for a date night or singles night. I don't know about day time or weekdays but if you like it quite and mellow this place prob isn't for you. Bring danceing shoes....you will prob be on the table by the end of the night."

  • "We celebrated my husband birthday, lamb was so good and gyros is so so tender, calamari was perfectly cook . Except my chicken kabob it was very dry inside and outside. its very expensive for the amount of food they give you."

  • "Food was decent, nothing special. Mixed drinks, we had to send back because mojito tasted like Sprite, no alcohol in it at all. We went both pitchers back and they redid them. Place is way too loud, could not even hear person next to me unless we screamed. Good to have loud at times only to dance, but not all night. Dessert was awful."

  • "I took my mom for her birthday. She absolutely loved it! So much fun & lots of dancing! We'll definitely be back!"

  • "Used to love this place and always looked forward to a fun evening at Opa! Unfortunately the entertainment budget has apparently disappeared, and the primary goal is customer churn. Move you in and out before you realize the reason you chose Opa never materialized. With that said...food is still excellent and the serving staff efficient. If my expectation wasn't set around the entertainment it would have otherwise been a good meal."

  • "This place in pointe Orlando is quite the find, You can easily walk pass it with out even realizing it. Yet, once you enter it's like a spendid trip to another world, music is live and vibrant, belly dancers are on the tables with customers young and old alike with everybody cheering and jeering. Food was amazing. pricing was reasonable. My personal favorite was the hummas freshly made a la cart. feels lighter and healthier than any store brought."

  • "Awesome food! I got the 33$ per person group meal the lamb was to die for very juicy and chicken and all veggies were delicious! Even the coffee was yummy! The dancer was amazing just need more than one belly dancer, it's very loud there but fun ambience! Strongly recommend! Greek food is yummy!"

  • "Really enjoyed this place and will return. We have eaten at Acropolis Greek Taverna in Riverview, FL (Tampa/Brandon area) and thought this would be the same. There are some similarities like the belly dancing girl and the throwing of the napkins but the atmosphere is different the way the tables are very close together and the menu is different. I had the Greek Paella which was delicious! Others at the table had a Gyro, Kleftiko, Dolmades (Stuffed Grape Leaves) and Hummus with pita bread. Everything was very good. The belly dancer was great. She really worked the room and after doing her routine she stayed out and got the diners involved, some even getting on the table tops. Children and adults really enjoyed this."

  • "What a welcome break from the chain restaurants! Food was excellent, and portions generous. Greek music was pulsing through a high end sound system that made it seem live. Seating was taverna style in long tables. And those tables were strong enough to support dancers!"

  • "My wife and I planned a night out with three other couples for New Years Eve. We had been to Tavern Opa with our children before and enjoyed it. We were not disappointed! We had a great time - Atmosphere was energetic and food was excellent. Our friends are still talking about the great food and the fun that they had."

  • "We requested when we reserved to be in the main dinning area which didn't happen. We also asked for my 8year old to dance with the belly dancer which took about 45 min for her to come back. We have been twice in a month and the first time we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The second time was good but it didn't compare to the first time."
