We went for the show (belly dancing) and the fun time of throwing napkins (not plates) in the air and had a great time. The surprise of the night was the food which we honestly didn't expect would be that good for this type of a venue and as it turned out we were wrong. The servings were large and the mousaka was excellent. I had a grilled pork platter which included 3 flame grilled chops. Good food, good entertainment makes for a good time.

Imagine eating dinner in a dance club with music pumping. One must absolutely experience this. You can eat in the middle where the music is loud and the party is all around (forget talking to each other). Or we sat at the bar, where you can talk to one another but still enjoy the energy. Lamb Chops were outstanding, wine list, not so. We would go back at least 2 to 4 times a year.

We ordered about 5 different appetizers. Most were good with the exception of the chewing octopus. The only negative to this place is the noise level. It's like eating dinner in a dance bar and the service is a bit spotty.

while the food was outstanding at restaurant opa(i have eaten much worse greek food in greece) the atmosphere was a little off the mark. dont get me wrong if you were on a night out with a group of adults and in a party mood then this is the place. unfortunaltely we had kids with us and it was very noisy(even the waitresses struggle to hear you)and was not the ambience we were looking for. unfortunately my idea of a good meal is not having opa shouted in my ear every thirty seconds and my dinner getting covered in napkins which are thrown into the air by the hundred very frequently. also i didnt get where the belly dancer came into things. we have travelled to greece on many occassions and i cant ever recall seeing one.

    Love2Eat
    Dined on 9/28/2008
I wasn't expecting the level of food, as I saw this place as a more bar/party type restaurant than an eatery. I couldn't have been more wrong. The food was fresh and amazing! I had the gyro, my wife had the chicken souflauki(sp?). Both were great! The pita and fresh hummus that they give you for free are sensational, so don't make the mistake by filling up just on them, although it would be very tempting and easy to do. The inside is a little loud if it's just two looking for a fun dinner with time to chat a little, but the outside is very nice. High Powered fans keep you cool, so it was the best of both worlds. The price was right, and for an I-Drive theme restaurant, it was a pretty good value for the amount of food you received

Best Greek food I've every had. Servers friendly. Incredibly loud. Belly dancers friendly and fun. However, I invited a large group and the management gave us an incredibly hard time about reservations and $30 per person minimum pricing (food only, no liquor) which (once we got to the restaurant) management never enforced.

    Dined on 9/20/2008
When we got to Taverna Opa, we were informed that we did not have a reservation, despite the fact that I had taken the time to make one using Open Table? The fact that we had a confirmation number and had recieved several emails verifying the reservation did not seem to make any difference. We were then told to get in line and wait and that it would be 45-50mins before we could be seated! Had I been aware of this I would have arrived at much earlier time. If this is the procedure then I see no reason to make a reservation. I'm also confused as to why Taverna Opa use Open Table when they do not accept reservations?

Open Tables needs to stress to its clients that a "reservation" at Taverna Opa does not actually mean a "reservation" in the traditional sense. What it means is "priority seating" which could still take over an hour from your "reservation". The service we received was rude and unacceptable. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I am sure the ambiance was wonderful, the staff was more than willing to help and the food was outstanding. However, considering I made reservations for eight people at 7:45 pm, arrived at 7:25pm and then was told we were going to have to wait until at least 9:00 until they were going to have the ability to seat my party, my guests and I ate at Hooters. So the moral of the story is . . . it was pointless for me to make the reservations, I have no idea how the food tasted and the hostess did appear to give a damn about me and my guests. Hooters was good though. We watched football.

The food was great and so was our waitress. However, the floor manager (or possibly owner) was very rude. The second we paid our bill he was trying to rush us out the door - even moving one of our party's chair while he was in the bathroom. He then had the waitress take all of our unfinished drinks off of the table. We understand the restaurant is busy, but after droping well over a hundred dollars we should be able to finish our drinks in peace and make plans for later in the night.

The only reason service has a 2 is because they were so busy the waiter barely had time to fill our drinks and take our orders. But if you like fire breathing belly dancers, great house music, dancing on tables, and yelling OPA!!!!! then this is the place to be. It is $45 to be seated immediately so you should probably get a reservation.

GREATLY disappointed at having an 8 pm reservation and then not seated till nearly 9pm. Okay, my fault for having made it 2 weeks in advance and having an 8 yr old in attendance. The food & ambiance are FAB. Don't come on an eve to expect fast in/out service, especially with a group over 4. The wait was an overly poor experience. Tableside was slow and had to go to go to station to get additional needs.

The service was great. We made our reservations on OpenTable.com and even though the hostess didn't have the information one of the managers made sure we were seated right away. The ambience is lively, fun, and full of energy. It's almost an upbeat club except it's really a restaurant. The music varies through a variety of cultures - some salsa, merengue, flamenco, Indian, et al and of course Greek. The food was fantastic! Generally we like eating at Hella's up in Tarpon Springs because it's very authentic in the middle of a Greek community - now with Taverna Opa I don't feel compelled to make the drive. The Saganaki was delightful, the table side hummus was the best ever (I love garlic!), and the Mojito was also very tasty.

Orlando has a great greek restaurant closer to my area! I really like that fact that you don't have to get a huge meal if you don't want to. They have an extensive list of appetizers, both hot and cold. You can try their great greek dishes without breaking the bank. The wine list was nice, a lot to choose from, including wines from greece! They make hummus right at your table in a mortar and pestle and serve it with pita bread. The saganaki was yummy, the lamb ribs tender and flavorful, and we had grilled octupus! This restaurant is NOT for those looking for a romantic evening! It's fun and upbeat, they throw napkins in the air,the servers get the patrons up to dance, and there is a bellydancer that dances from table to table.

Trip celebrating our vows together w/our kids. Opa made it a memorable occasion by adding entertainment to our teenagers' passion for Greek history, we felt welcome, active & lift. Didn't get to see any broken plates, but our kids made sure they broke the bank asking repeatedly for napkins in the air. It sure made us forget the fiasco with the Wyndham reservation, we almost missed Opa because our room was available pass 6pm, passed normal check in time of 4pm and some electrical problems. Regardless we got ready and made it to Opa. Great Greek food and dance, definitely capital 'F' Fun as great as the Opa in SoBe and Hollywood, FL. Bon appétit! Barbara Grant 7-25/27-2008

I have mixed feelings about the place. I was very excited to go to Taverna Opa; however, even though we made a reseravation we still waited for an hour to be seated. Someone in our party had THREE drinks spilled on their backs. The server was very rude. She took our drink orders but only tried to take the food order from four out of eleven people in our party. When she realized two of them were not ordering she refused to take everyone elses orders. We had to get the manager involved in order for our food orders to be taken and the food did not come out all at the same time. My first experience at Opa was memorable for all the wrong reasons!!!!1
