A word from Taverna Opa - Hollywood
An Alternate Approach to Dining:

The combination of great food and celebration created a new meaning for the concept of dining. Taverna Opa employs a different approach to energize and introduce the diner to a different dimension of entertainment. Previous dining norms are broken, spirits are lifted, with every single broken plate and every single napkin in the air. The marriage of traditional with modern is what Taverna Opa promotes as the most rapidly expanding concept in the United States.Continued

  • "If you enjoy Greek food, this is authentic! We didn't realize there was dancing on the tables and plate smashing, but when in Greece, do as the Grecians!! The food was delicious and plentiful."

  • "We had a great meal and had a lot of fun. Would highly recommend the experience."

  • "Greek - starting from the wine, to the dishes, to dessert. Having dealt with bad Greek restaurants in the US before Opa was a really great authentic experience."

  • "Around this time each year we spend a few weeks in Hollywood. The lamb shank IS my reason for the annual visit. The timing also coincides with my birthday, which is a plus."

  • "The Greek food is good, they have belly dancers. Just a lot of fun."

  • "Love the food and the service. Sitting on the water makes this restaurant very special"

  • "People were complaining that it was super loud but i think it is completely different than anywhere else i have ever been. I would make it a romantic date or even a date where conversation is required if your going to eat inside. outside it much more relaxed and i dont believe the diner out there had napkins thrown at them (all in good fun)."

  • "Be prepared to use earplugs . Dancers and diners dance on the table. Food is not the draw!"

  • "we went last Saturday and had a super good time, food and service was very good"

  • "My colleague and I went here recently and really enjoyed our appetizers, wine and entrees. We started with the stuffed grape leaves and the grilled octopus (which I would never had ordered had the waitress not highly recommended). Both were absolutely fantastic. For an entrée I had the Santorini Sunfish (tilapia) and my colleague had the Snapper. Both were cooked to perfection and tasted out of this world. We sat outside - the weather was perfect, which is not uncommon in Ft. Lauderdale. It's not a fancy place (if you want fancy, go next door to GG's) - but it was a great meal with a great view and very good/friendly service."

  • "The food is GREAT, the portions are big and the service is very good. This is a place for a PARTY. The belly-dancing and the general atmosphere,--- make it a perfect place,-- to host a Birthday party or a Special event. You and your guests will ENJOY the food and have a fabulous time too. Taverna Opa ROCKS!"

  • "Mediocre cooking & quality. Fab garlic hummus but lousy rolls. Soggy smelts with fishy smell. Hard rice, , chewy lamb. Can't beat dining on the waters edge on a mild night."
    Dined on 1/28/2014
  • "Had to wait 30 minutes although we had an open table reservation. Took a long time to order our food. Finally a waitress that knows up took our order as favor. The service was not up to par. The food was very good when we finally got it."

  • "Great food. Ok Service. Price is reasonable for the exquisiteness of the food! I have been to the Opa in brickell and Hollywood. I would have to say that for the location in Hollywood it's good but if you dine indoors. outside you get a nasty smell coming from the water! everything else is good."

  • "We were at Taverna Opa to celebrate our wedding anniversary. My wife and I, together with our 12 year-old daughter, and 7 year-old son. We had a great time, and everyone loved the food. The food and service were excellent. Thanks."

  • "Service was awful. We ordered at least 7 different appetizers plus fou main entrees It took about 45-60 minutes to get 2 appetizers. After waiting one and a half hours we asked for the manager and we asked for the bol fir what we ate as we decided we didn't want to wait anyone. Manager was kind and apologized. We ended up withj no bill, but we did leave a tip. Was a very busy night so I am assuming they were overwhelmed. It is a simple Greek restaurant with loud music and a belly dancer."

  • "Arrived w/ a party of 4 for a 7:30pm reservation that was confirmed by OpenTable & restaurant. At arrival we were told that they were overbooked & their computer was down so they could not confirm reservations. They would try to seat us in a half an hour or so. This impacted everyone arriving w/ a reservation. We were seated at 8:05pm. They obviously were not prepared for the crowd. They took our dinner order around 8:30pm but our meals did not arrive until 9:20pm. During this time trying to get the waitress to help was virtually impossible & no additional service (drinks, bread, appetizers) was provided. Did speak with manager and he apologized but blamed it on the overbooking and large crowd. Will not be going back anytime soon."

  • "Everything was excellent but despite the fact that we book a table with open table and called to re-confirm the reservation, they did not have it in their system. Therefore we had to wait a while to be seated."

  • "I made reservations for 6 people on Dec 31, 2013 on open table got conformation email with conformation number. Long story short got there and they said sorry we can't seat you because we had a separate REP for this day and will not accept any open table reservations. Thank you for making me and my family waste our time and left us with no place to go for new years"

  • "Service was horrible. The excuse that they are busy was unacceptable. The food was just OK. The appetizer took over an hour to get and then almost immediately the main course came. I would not return. There are better restaurants to go to."

  • "We enjoyed the music and belly dancer who performed then came around to dance with us ON our table! We took pictures and posted them on Facebook to share all the fun here!"

  • "Excited to find more than just Chinese open on Christmas. The food was excellent. The place was very very busy which lead to slow service which is somewhat understandable. Very loud place but again due to the crowd and belly dancing excitement. Would definitely eat here again hoping for better service since the food was fantastic."

  • "ok i guess but highly overpriced for the amount of food and he quality....also they need to train their staff to try have some control over diners kids....i pay for my food so i when i go somewhere i don't really want to deal with unruly kids and their parents."

  • "Our first visit. We sat on the water and it was lovely. Our service was great. I had the lamb shank and my husband had the lamb chops. Both were cooked perfectly. We are looking forward to our next visit."

  • "When I go to a place like this I expect a Greek experience--food and music. What we got was club music played so loud it was difficult to talk (and we were sitting outside) and mediocre food that was barely mediterranean. What I will give them credit for was the service. The staff was very attentive. Would I recommend this place? That depends on what you are wanting. If you want a place to celebrate a special occasion in a really fun way then this is the place for you; Just don't go there expecting a great foodie experience."

  • "Great food and great service make this place a great find. If you like Greek and Mediterranean cuisine with a splash of belly dancing and napkin throwing, you will love Opa."

  • "Nice outdoor seating on the intercoastal. Food was OK. Service was OK. Annoying belly-dancers walk around shaking in your face with dollar bills in their g-strings. If I wanted to be hassled for small-bill tips by scantily clad women, I would have gone to BTs. I'm fine with a show - not with the begging. Overall, there's nothing special here."

  • "Opa is a nothing-special Greek restaurant. It's best feature is its location on the inter-coastal waterway. Unfortunately, it's also only a few few away from the traffic of A1A (and adjacent to the restaurant's parking lot) so the ambiance on the outside terrace is not gracious. The food is decent, neighborhood Greek restaurant quality. My fish entree was pretty good but the rice and potatoes with it were cold. Waiter never came by to check, so I couldn't tell him about the problem until he was removing the dishes. The manager gave us a free desert of delicious Greek yogurt with honey."

  • "I am vegan they did not have a lot of vegan options so it was disappointing. Something about the flavors did not work for me. The drinks were good and it is right on the water, so hard not to like the ambience."
