Diner Reviews
  • "Have been eating lunch here for years but recently tried it for dinner. Much different menu from lunch but fresh and delicious fish and seafood among other. The hummus and pita is addictive."

  • "Taverna Kyma is an all-time favorite place for my family, especially on birthdays. The complimentary hummus is the best EVER and I could fill up on that alone. The appetizer and entree portions are huge and the prices are great. In addition - martinis at $7 and $8 are a steal!"

  • "Taverna Kyma is a very enjoyable dining experience. From Greek salads with the ripest tomatoes, to delicious kebabs and whole fish cooked on the wood fire, as well as traditional Greek favorites such as moussaka, you won't be disappointed here. Staff is very friendly and welcoming."

  • "Our party included one chef, one Montrealer (sophisticated foodie) and 2 other worldwide eaters. We split a lot of starters - best was octopus. Attentive service -"

  • "We went to Taverna Kyma to celebrate Easter. When we arrived at the restaurant we saw two whole lambs being cooked on spits in the parking area, making us feel as though we were in a small village in Greece. The scene was marvelous. Most of us ordered lamb, and it was to die for. We have never tasted lamb so good. Our Easter dinner was a huge success, thanks to the people at Taverna Kyma."

  • "We took people here who are very picky. This was our first time out with them so we were taking a chance wherever we went, but they said they liked fish so we suggested Taverna K . What an outstanding meal! Our waiter recommended the tsippoura, which was a scrumptious, full flavored fish and three of us had that; my husband had the "best lamb chops he's ever had"!our friends can't wait to come back-- they said they want to try every thing on the menu!! Oh-- and the belly dancer was great!!!"

  • "Our friends, who love Greek food, had not been here and loved it. The restaurant was packed with several large groups and we were glad we had a reservation. Our waiter was great and brought us everything in a timely manner. Our friend doesn't eat carbs and replaced the pita bread with cucumbers when asked with no problem. The lamp chops were the best and again the waiter added more vegetables when requested, instead of potatoes. The lemon chicken was cooked to perfection, and the shrimp dish very tasty. The dolmades were also very good. The groups were very loud but happy and we had fun watching the tasteful belly dancer interact with customers. A delightful evening!"

  • "We have been going to this restaurant for years and it was our favorite Greek restaurant until our most recent visit. The server was poorly trained and did not attend to our needs. When one person at the table asked for more water, she gave it to him and walked away without asking if anyone else at the table wanted more. When we asked the busboy for more milk for our coffee, he said he couldn't get it and left. The lamb chops (which were always our favorite) was too tough to chew and could not be cut with the knives provided. They also were lacking the seasoning it always had and was tasteless. The dessert pie, was heavy and soggy and tasted like it was sitting around for days. Taverna Kyma is not the jewel it used to be!"

  • "Been there before. Food and service is generally It was Friday and Valentine's Day. It was not a romantic hideaway and not expected to be. We were 5 people. It was a circus but not in a bad way. There was a belly dancer and a very upbeat environment. Given the number of patrons, I'd say they did a totally commendable job."

  • "We're frequent diners at Taverna Kyma and enjoyed a 6:30 dinner on Valentine's Day. Lamb chops were the best ever; Rofos Plaki (baked fish with tomatoes, white wine...) was delicious as always; Lemon Chicken soup wonderful and the vegetable mix (green beans, red pepper, potatoes) was great (improved from the previous green beans alone). Music was a bit too loud for our taste that evening, but the belly dancer arrived and the crowd in a celebratory mood. Service is always friendly. We LOVE this place and highly recommend it."

  • "Went based upon other peoples' reviews. We were very please with the food which I would give 4-5 stars. I had the Lavraki which was cooked perfectly. My wife had beef kabobs which was also very tasty. Unfortunately the service should be given a negative star. The staff was disorganized and confused ( the incorrect dishes were brought to our table several time). The definitely need to be better organization. They need a total reorganization. Waiters appeared to be trying but couldn't get it to happen. Hope they work things out as the food was very good."

  • "Love Taverna Kyma but 1 big complaint. We went at 630p to get the special menu. They seated us with the regular menu. I asked the man who seated us and he never brought them to us. I had to ask the waiter when he came to take our drink order. If the restaurant offers the menu, then why am I made to feel like I'm doing something wrong by asking for it!!! Put a little damper on my enjoyment. Also the waiter forgot our appetizer so we cancelled it since the main dishes had arrived. But the food was really good And the special is a good deal. I will go back but hope they don't make me beg for the special menu if I qualify!"

  • "First of all, the food is always terrific. We expected the loud noise level, but not the service issues. Admittedly, the restaurant was very busy for a Saturday evening in the height of season, but, when we have a reservation, we don't expect for people who walk in after us to be seated first, when their party is the same size and their reservation is the same time. We were also forced as a result to be seated near the front door and cooking area. Our first appetizer, a cold mix of traditional Greek pita and dips, had a long hair in it, and, although it was eventually replaced, not a word of apology, or anything else was done to make us feel better. If I were the manager, it would have been an automatic comp! Lamb chops were superb!"

  • "After having gone for many years to the Taverna, we took friends there. I know that it is crowded on Friday nights having been there before. This past time was ridiculous. They must have added 10 tables (and it was crowded before). It was nearly impossible to go through the aisles and they seated us where we had to stop eating and get up every time someone with a walker wanted to exit! Hardly dining. The service was very spotty and we did not receive several items we requested. They seemed to be very short on help. I had to send overdone tough lamb chops back. Even the belly dancer had no room to move! We won't be returning there any time soon."

  • "We have had dinner many times at Taverna Kyma, never a disappointment. We love the chick pea and Fresh Warm pita bread served to every table. The presentation using mort and pestle make for even more attention appreciated touches. Service is pleasant, attentive and menu educated. Daily whole fish is always offered, yours to fillet or be lazy and have fish filleted table side. Grilled lamb chops are also a favorite. Grilled to perfection and NOT too much seasoning. My vegetable choices are always the same. Lest I not forget the fresh and wonderful Greek Salad served family style if you wish. I TAKE A PASS on desert. All in all, this is always one of our "go to's". Prices are very fair. Go and enjoy."

  • "This restaurant is usually quieter on the back porch than inside, but tonight we sat in the corner of main room and it was OK. Food is always good, but I am tired of the same overcooked vegetables that are served with meat dishes. Sometimes the person making cocktails doesn't get it right - the last time a Makers Mark Old Fashioned came out quite differently than usual."

  • "The food was fair, the service was horrible. The waiter brought our entree while we were eating our salad and sent the food back. It came much later and was okay. The belly dancer was very good. Then they brought our "decaf coffee" which turned out to be not decaf. I was up until 4AM. Needless to say we will not return."

  • "Waitress was attentive although disappeared for a while at a point during the dinner. Had to ask for water to be refilled. Menu was interesting and expansive. Moussaka was a bit bland. Will try some of the more unusual dishes next time. The restaurant is worth a second visit"

  • "We loved everything about this place. Came wih husband, teenage daughter, and Grandmother. My husband ordered off the "twilight menu", and the 3 of us shared a bunch of small plates. Everything we ate was delicious and fresh tasting, none of that bland, "fake" tasting out of a can stuff. I will definitely be back. We sat outside on their enclosed covered porch which was thankfully quiet. I did notice when we left, the inside had loud Greek music and a bellydancer for entertainment. It was a Saturday night. Oh and by the way our waitress just brought us all the deserts when she saw we had trouble choosing for the desert which came with my husband's meal."

  • "if you are not part of the party it is not a good night to go. there were two parties that night and we were not too happy our lamb chops were cold; the dolmades which have always been vegetarian were with meat (I am vegan) and the rest was fine. not much for me to eat except the harvest salad which was thrown together not like it is usually served when there are not two big parties going on at the same time....o well....we will try it again"

  • "Greek salad with real feta cheese and cut up veggies w excellent dressing - harvest salad packed fresh veggies. Dolmades best in Tri county area ~ the guys loved the lamb chops and spanokopita. Chocolate dessert was great so I am told ~ don't miss this one - it's a keeper for sure!"

  • "This time, went with friends on a Saturday night. The food was excellent and there was lots of it -doggie bags all around. The belly dancer added entertainment and the whole restaurant seemed to be having fun. We were also there during the week (no belly dancer) and the food and service was just as good."

  • "The grilled octopus was delicious and Greek salad too. for our main courses, 2 of us had the fish (special for the day and can't remember the name) which was really tasty but I would have appreciated a warning that it might contain some Bones .. My friend had the pastitsio which she raved about, and my husband had the lamb kebob which was also great. One note; my friends drink was great whereas mine seemed to be alcohol-lacking. Our waiter was very sweet and attentive and we enjoyed the atmosphere and the belly dancer although the music got very loud it became difficult to hear each other without yelling. This can be avoided if you know what time the dancer starts and time your evening accordingly :)"
