TavernDelicious brunch entrees.Delicious brunch entrees. Easy to converse with companion in Atrium seating area. Did not feel rushed or crowded despite several large family groups celebrating UCLA graduation.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMmy favorate LA restaurantmy favorate LA restaurant but your great on site bakery your bread sevice should be better6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMCharming lunch spotThe food was fabulous. My friend and I shared a salad and sandwich and both were delicious. The salad was fresh and creative and the grilled cheese was done to perfection. Our dessert, the chocolate snickers bar was decadent but amazing. Great service in a lovely atmosphere. What a great place to celebrate our mutual birthdays!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSisappointing food in great settingThe fish tacos were small and so-so in terms of taste. The turkey burger was very good but the side salad was plain. Excellent iced tea. Beautiful setting and friendly service.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSlow KitchenThe food was great but the service was very, very slow. We sat down at 7:30 and did not get our entree until 8:45 and it was warm but not hot!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat as alwaysBrought a few new guests for dinner. Seated in Atrium, which was lovely, bright. Wait staff was excellent, as usual. I must confess that the meals ordered by my guests were not excellent - just ok. Duck looked a little overcooked. On the other hand, my usual order of Devil's Chicken was perfect. We ordered several desserts - all outstanding.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place!Even though I only live less than a mile from this restaurant, it's only the fourth time I've ever been. We tend to save it for special occasions because of the price but I'd eat here all the time if it wasn't for that. I've never had a bad dish here and the service is impeccable. The halibut we had was cooked to perfection and the arugula salad with burrata and soft shell crab salads were some of the best salads I've ever had!
The brunch here is terrific as well. The menu, service and ambience makes this my top place to have a special Sunday brunch.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNice Brunch AtmosphereI had a trio of delicious salads (Farro with spring vegetables, parsely-mint pesto; Curried chicken with almonds & raisins; and
Roasted cauliflower with curry & coriander) ...each one was wonderful! I also tried the bacon wrapped figs which were decadent and wickedly good. The bright atmosphere of the atrium is inviting and will wake you up for a mid-morning brunch. Each section of the restaurant (The Larder, the Bar, and the Atrium) has it's own personality and vibe. Whatever your mood, you should be able to find a room and a dish to please you.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful!I'll keep it short ... go here. Incredible dining room and delicious food. Great service, too. Don't miss the bakery on the way out. Wonderful place.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousHad an incredible Mother's Day brunch here. The service was wonderful and the brisket hash was unbelievable. You have to try the monkey bread! I cannot wait to go back!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOh my cod!Very nice restaurant, great bar, attractive dining room, interesting menu. I had the yellowtail crudo appetizer, which was excellent and the fish special, which was Atlantic cod, I believe. It was a beautiful skin on fillet, but, sadly, cooked into oblivion...a fish-flavored gelatinous mush. Had I not had theatre tickets requiring me to leave timely, I would asked them to do it again. Our server, a very pleasant young woman, was outstanding.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMTASTY FOOD BUT SKIP THE SALTOur server helped make our dining experience extra special with his great attitude. My husband loved his burger. My only complaint about the butternut squash soup was that it tasted salty. When are chefs going to realize that health-conscious diners don't want salt added to their food, and that it can be very detrimental to those with health issues? Let's campaign for unsalted food from the kitchen, but leave a salt shaker on the table for those who want it. The bread was excellent, as were the trio of salads with pleasing portions. We loved the beignets for dessert, as well as the frozen lemon meringue tart. Clearly the noise level can be deafening at peak hours or when seated near large parties, so those who like to converse beware!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. Very pretty atmosphere.Great food. Very pretty atmosphere. Great for ladies' events5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food - great hostWe had a wonderful experience at Tavern this past Saturday. We brought our 2 year old son and the staff was great with him. We particularly had a great experience with the host Saba who made sure we were happy with our table and happy with our meal. Thanks again - we'll be back soon for sure!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe came in for dessert andWe came in for dessert and had the Snickers Bar. It is worth every penny, and quite delicious! Enough for 2-3 to share, as it is pretty rich!4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best spot in LA!One of the best spot in LA! Be aware I little pricey but is worthy4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful ladiesWe had a wonderful ladies luncheon.
Tavern is my regular business lunch place, close to my office.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe atrium is lovely....lightThe atrium is lovely....light and bright and shiny immaculate ....
The food is delicious and a great value. Premium quality.
The service is the best I've had in years.....helpful, pleas pant knowledgeable ....not over nearing or condescending in the least.
A news disaster was being telecast with no sound, I noticed on the way to the ladies room. Mid afternoon the President was to address the nation, and the bartender arranged to let us watch and hear, and served us sodas and coffee. The Tavern is a gem of the first water.
Then we shopped at the larder. Cookies, sticky buns yummmmmmm.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly Recommend!Charming restaurant (love the outside area!) with delicious food & great service. Highly recommend!
Will definitely be back!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSo glad we had reservations,So glad we had reservations, thanks OpenTable. Although we had an 8:30 reservation and we arrived a little early, it was a Friday night, enough said. We were sent to relax at the bar but between the Laker game and all the other patrons waiting for their reservations or an availability, it was pretty maxed to capacity. If I wasn't pregnant, I would have been more comfortable standing around. We were sat closer to 9pm We celebrated our "Valentine"s Day" here and it was overall very good. Once sat, our server was gracious and attentive and the food was delish. I liked the ambiance and maybe a little less crowd but overall had a good vibe. I would dine here again, with lower heels and maybe not a Friday. :-)4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAtrium. Lovely room. AlwaysAtrium. Lovely room. Always a pleasure to dine here. Excellent food, excellent service. Love this restaurant.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is their Westside versionThis is their Westside version of Lucques with a beautiful open dinging room that gives the feeling of being outdoors. Same excellent food, great drinks, first rate service; and all the other things that make all of their restauarants such a pleasure to be in.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place!Interesting food served in a beautiful light filled atrium room with high ceilings and cozy banquettes. Though I brought my elderly mother, and she was clearly the only senior in the place, it wasn't too loud and the menu satisfied us both. We had steak frites with bernaise sause along with a little arugula side salad -- all was delish and we will definitely return. As we walked through the bar area, which is dark and clubby, it was filled with people at 6PM on a Tuesday. Plus, they have a nice looking little cafe at the front with deli cases filled with yummies for eating there or take out. I hadn't been to this location since Hamburger Hamlet left so many years ago, and am happy to find another choice that satisfies everyone.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMMy New Brunch SpotGreat brunch. Strong drinks. Great brunch place for Mother's Day :)4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place. Had a reservationGreat place. Had a reservation for two and had ordered when a friend showed up unexpected. The Hostess gladly and promptly accommodated us.
It was on a Saturday Night and it was quite busy. Felt they went above and beyond. Service was great and never rushed. Food was outstanding.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother excellent meal. TheAnother excellent meal. The service was superb. The food was divine.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe'll be back! For a great, noisy bar scene, sit in front. But for a quiet conversation in a lovely setting, sit in the Atrium. Our server, JJ, was great and the steak/frites was truly the tenderest steak I've ever eaten. Anywhere. Really.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA wonderful lunchTavern continues to be one of my favorite restaurants. The food is great, the service is attentive, the setting is exceptional and the ambiance is unique. My companion and I had Saturday brunch and the egg dishes were excellent, particularly with the delicious fried potatoes. Our server was a little formal but was on top of our dining experience. He was quick to refill the glasses, was largely unintrusive and had strong backup from his fellow servers and busboys. If you haven't had the frozen snickers dessert, you owe it to yourself. We will definitely be back!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food and great service.Good food and great service. We got the Gilt coupon and they didn't treat us like second class citizens like some restaurants do.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch or Dinner, can't go wrong.Definitely one of my favorite spots in LA for brunch or dinner. In fact, though this post is about a recent brunch at the Tavern, I had dinner there three days prior!I had the wild mushroom with spinach and cheese scramble, which I absolutely DIED over. Interestingly enough, I typically despise mushrooms, but as I am constantly trying to reevaluate food, I asked for the mushrooms to be brought on the side. Glad I did so, as they were the best part of the meal. That day, the chef had yellow chantarelles and hedgehog mushrooms (I asked) and they were so delicious, I could have had a plate of them on their own. Not to discount the rest of the scramble, which was perfectly cooked, nor the potatoes, as they were crisped to perfection. Fab me3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDelectable light and heavy dishesDinner was great. Started off with two glasses of wine, the shrimp cocktail and salad to share with my date. Continued with a cup of the bean soup (delish) and a side of asparagus, while my date had the lamb shank. The shank was tasty if heavy (as they are) and I was happy to have tempered it with the light soup and vegetable. Will be back when I've a bit more of an appetite.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant w great ambienceWent to Tavern with an online 3-course menu offer and it was great. We started with a house cocktail and they were great. There were nice wine options by the glass, too. The first courses were soup of the day and the curried cauliflower. Both were great, but the flavors in the cauliflower were very powerful, so the taste definitely lingers throughout the meal. Entrees were the gnocchi and mussels and both were very tasty. Finished with the snickers bar dessert (OMG! Soooo amazing) and the cookies and milk. I liked the cookies, but my husband prefers very sweet cookies, and these were a milder level of sweet, so they weren't exactly his style.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat! This is a great restaurant in Brentwood. We came for our anniversary and were treated very well. The food was excellent, the service was spectacular, and the dining room is very comfortable.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMReally delicious - from theReally delicious - from the charcuterie and pate to the desserts - all expertly and meticulous.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways AmazingLove this restaurant, always have, always will. We'll all go back again.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMMy Birthday lunchLovely setting in the Atrium - lovely neutral colors - only thing missing would be a flower or two at each table, which would add some warmth and life. We added ours, since it was my birthday and my lunch friends brought them ;)
Great touch with cookies and milk served to the 'birthday gal' ......
Coffee was excellent.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMUsed Gilt voucherAsked to be moved away from loud, privileged irritating young mothers and they waitstaff was happy to comply. We then sat next to a less irritating privileged young mother. The food was quite good and the service just as outstanding. I can't blame the restaurant for their clientele.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in LAIt's a beautiful room and the food is really good. Was a guest here one night and came back by myself the next week when I returned to LA because I was so impressed.3/18/2013 12:00:00 AMHad brunch at Tavern and hadHad brunch at Tavern and had overall very enjoyable time. The servers are very professional and pleasant. The food is generally good.
I really like the new three small plate options. Perfect for WLA ladies, who try to eat healthy well balanced meals.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI always have a good mealI always have a good meal at Tavern. In fact, the ricotta gnocchi as a vegetarian item was remarkably flavorful. Arugula salad with persimmons and pomegranate a great fall/winter touch and the hearty lobster risotto topped with halibut were all nice touches to keep regulars like us coming back for more.12/26/2012 12:00:00 AMAlways good and consistent.Always good and consistent.
