I would definitely recommend and be back with friends again soon. Have not had that good a meal in quite some time. Wait staff was very attentive. Would highly recommend Tavern 58.   • "We have been twice. Last year the whole experience was great from drinks to dessert. My husband had the monk fish fillet and has talked about monk fish for a year! We went for his birthday as I wanted him to have. Monk fish as it was on menu again. He was so disappointed! It was monk fish cheeks, totally different , with absolutely no flavor! I had the steak and stuffed shrimp and it was delicious. Love the chipotle potatoes! Well the manager knew from our waitress, who was so sweet, that hubby was disappointed and told him to pick anything on the menu and comped it. That was so nice and he enjoyed the steak he picked. The only thing is I was finished before he got his which was not what we expected for our night out. Great bread pudding."

  • "We picked the restaurant because of the proximity to the Jazz Festival, but was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the ambiance. We were there also to celebrate a birthday with friends and the variety of the dishes was very good. Our friend had an antelope salad, which she found quite tasty. My husband had the shrimp stuffed crab, which was wonderful. We were thrilled to find out that they have just opened a new place much closer to home, The Tavern on Clover. We plan a trip there soon!"

  • "Enjoyed our dinners at Tavern58. Tenderloin medallions needed to be returned to be cooked to order - but were outstanding once returned. Be warned that the restaurant seats location according to timing of reservation - was told tables assigned by computer automatically when I questioned our location. Service excellent and it was very busy with Jazz Fest. Will definitely return."

  • "While we dined at Tavern 58 for it's convenience to the Jazz Festival, I always enjoy dinner at the Tavern because of a gracious and efficient staff. The staff is knowledgable and helpful with helping to decide on the dinner selections, and i have never had a bad meal. The bar is intimate, and the bar personal are very astute and friendly."

  • " We had reservations and they forgot about us and were not very apologetic. a really sucky way to start off my husbands birthday dinner. never even comped us a free dessert for the screw up. seafood medley was a disappointment with a rubbery, unseasoned, chewy lobster tail. I gave it to my husband because it was nasty. shrimp where bland but i know it is not possible to get got quality shrimp up here. grilled veggies were bland and under done, the winner of the dish was the rice. very nice sauce and cooked perfectly. my husband had surf and turf that he liked a lot."

Everything was perfect The timing between courses, the food, the wine, the service. My chef son finds fault with most restaurants, but this time was the exception. Wonderful food!"

  • "Made outdoor reservations for first night of Jazz Festival. Attending concert at 8 PM. Indicated this information on reservation. Seated immediately upon on our arrival. Received prompt and courteous attention. We had indicated that we were attending a concert. This information as well as our outdoor seating preference was captured and relayed to the staff. Pleasant atmosphere, very good food. We left in plenty of time for concert. We did pay a $10 parking fee because of the festival, however the fee was redeemed for a $10 gift card for either restaurant. Great idea. Have recommended this restaurant in the past."

  • "We made a reservation for dinner during the Rochester Jazz Fest since this restaurant is very close to the Kodak Eastman Thereat were we had tickets to a show. We arrived a little early and got a drink at the bar which was very crowed. They should of had another bartender on that day. They sat us on time and we got our food a little too quickly (before we got our bottle of wine). We we very happy with both our dishes though which our waitress had recommended. I had the scallops and my husband had the beef tenderloins. We finished spitting the creme brulee while we finished the wine. I would recommend and hope to go back again soon. The outside patio was nice but we sat inside."

  • "We're able to get reservation Sat night of Jazz Fest, I had the tavern pick which was a stuffed chicken breast with cheese served over risotto with grilled asparagus, very good, my wife had ravioli no complaints, had to ask to have water glasses to be refilled, food came promptly so overall was good for such a busy night"

  • "I found this place through Open Table, for a pre-theatre dinner. It was difficult to choose from the menu as so many dishes sounded great. I had a delicious special, which was grilled salmon. The house salad was good, and serves two. Attentive service, though we were early in the evening so don't know what it would be later. I will go back for one of those tempting steaks!"

  • "We have eaten here at least 10 times in the past two years and have enjoyed it very time. This was the first disappointment. I ordered surf and turf which was not cheap. I was served what wa easily the poorest quality piece of beef I have ever been served at a restaurant of this caliber. It was literally in edible as it was so tough I could not cut through it with my steak knife. They comped one $7 dessert. But proceeded to charge $12 for a double espresso. Not impressed."

  • "Arrived on time with reservation for anniversary dinner. We were seated at table nearest kitchen. Was only one other couple in the back room of ten tables they left shortly after we were seated. Staff walked by continuously. A waitress stopped after 10 minutes to ask if we had been served. Requested appetizer delivered. She took dinner requests with a side of polenta fries, we ordered a bottle of wine from the list. She placed our order but came back twice to inform us that they were out of our wine selections. She offer us any other wine up to $50 half off. Dinners arrived with wine, no fries. Requested side order showed up 5 minutes later. Noisy party joined us. She brought 2 glass of champagne after told her of our anniversary"

  • "I attended a charity event at Tav58 a few months ago and thought I'd try it for a regular dinner. The service was excellent- our first table had a slight wobble and right away we were re-seated at another one. Our service team included a trainee and they were both very well versed in what was in the various dishes. A recommended appetizer (the wings) were fantastic. Our entrees arrived in a timely matter and were served hot. The seafood special was delicious. The short rib and duck sausage was ok; the rib and sauce were very good but the sausage tasted greasy. I'd give the seafood a 5 and the rib/sausage a 3. The wine list contained no New York wines which was disappointing. The Finger Lakes whites are award winning. Promote local."

  • "Great food, prompt and efficient service, knowledgeable staff who provided great wine pairing suggestions. My companion ordered the schnitzel with apple chutney, which was wonderful. We were a little disappointed in the German Potato Salad, which was very good, just not the traditional salad with which we both grew up. The chicken scaloppini with sun-dried tomato risotto was excellent. The risotto was creamy and cheesy and the chicken was moist and flavorful. The staff made excellent suggestions. Our only complaint was that we were too full to be able to have one of the tempting desserts! We will definitely be back again. "

  • "We went out for dinner and a play. We really enjoyed our dinner at Tavern 58. The crab dip was delicious, although it would be nice to offer it with something besides bread for those of us that can't eat it. The waitress brought out he homemade chips and that was great. I had the hanger steak and it was wonderful. My girlfriend had the stuffed shrimp and really enjoyed it. This is my second visit and I haven't been disappointed yet. A gluten free option in the beer selection would be nice too."

  • "Tried Tavern58 at Gibbs because of a show at the Auditorium Theater. We had reservations at 4:45 pm and were a few minutes early. The bar tender welcomed us and created a Delish brink. The food was great, our server was friendly, knowledgeable and eager for us to have a positive experience. Great place, I would definitely go again and try something different."
