  • "If your looking for finger licking food, and outstanding service, Tavern road is your destination. We were blessed to have Ryan the bartender and he made our visit unbelievably enjoyable and memorable."

  • "Good drinks but would benefit from having a variety of draft beers in addition to the bottles, apps were tastey and service, while slow to bring the first round, was very attentive thereafter. Very vibrant and good atmosphere."

  • "From the cocktails and starters through the desert, there wasn't a single misstep among the five of us who enjoyed our fantastic first meal at Tavern Road. Even the dinner rolls were delicious! Their li'l snacks were particularly yummy, we had a couple orders of fried chickpea bites, and the whipped goat milk feta on mini-english muffins were so good I immediately ordered another batch! So many great deserts too, but you know me, I can't resist a cookie plate, even when I'm already full (I took most of them home). They were wonderful. Hats off to the chefs at Tavern Road. It is a pretty noisy dinner spot though, so be prepared to shout."

  • "Appetizers were all mouth-watering. We tried the chickpea bites and spaetzle as a table and everyone loved them. Main dishes were also excellent (flatiron, risotto with crab, and burger). Service was quick and responsive. However, noise level was pretty high - would love to see them get some noise dampening interior elements, so that I could hear the conversation without leaning over the table all night. Overall, a wonderful surprise and we will be headed back."

  • "Food was very good. Service was bad. Took forever to get a drink after we sat down. Took forever to get refilled. Slow and unenthusiastic service."

  • "With the risk of sounding a bit cranky, the noise level was deafening. I had difficulty in hearing the waiter's questions or comments. Other than that, however, the restaurant was memorably great. The food was innovative and fresh, our server was skilled and attentive without being annoying. Watching the kitchen "perform" was an added bonus."

  • "Restaurant has potential, however food portions are small, limited menu.... We asked for black pepper to season our food - response was "sorry we don't have black pepper."???!????? Average experience. Good for drinks."

  • "This restaurant gave the illusion of being a foodie joint/gastropub type place, but the actual food quality and taste didn't match up. Servers were very knowledgeable but too busy and slow. Hostess was unfriendly."

  • "The food sounds better than it actually was. The lamb ossa bucco was tasty, but the flank steak with chimichurri was a miss - bland and the sauce left an oily taste in your mouth. The charcuterie board was also not as good as it could be - the duck liver mousse was wonderful but the whole dish needed some acidity, maybe a pickle or some stone ground mustard? The service was very good and the decor was cool, and unpretentious. Overall the experience was pleasant but I left feeling unsatisfied and that I paid too much for it."

  • "The Tavern Road experience ranks at the top of my list for the past three years. The food was fresh, clean, and truly local. The ambiance was fabulous with local art and vibrant scene to enliven the dining experience. And the service was second to none. We were there to celebrate my wife's birthday and on our way out everyone gave her well wishes. For the price and overall experience, the value is tough to beat. The food was better than many of the top restaurants in the city for a reasonable price. I could see Barbara lunch taking a night off from Menton across the street to enjoy a nice evening. I would highly recommend Tavern Road to anyone looking for a good night out in Boston!"

  • "Good food that just misses a little something to be very good or outstanding, the exception is the dessert menu which is varied, interesting and well executed. The staff are very friendly and provide great service."

  • "My boyfriend & I had the privilege of sitting in front of the very open kitchen; I got to see food plated right in front of me & it was like art. For our meals, he got the grilled flatiron steak, which was cooked to perfection & served with a delightful chimichurri on top. And my lamb osso buco -- my goodness; the meat was so tender that it literally fell off the bone, & the red wine sauce it came with was so delicious that I used every morsel of food I had to wipe it clean off the plate. After dinner we were treated to free dessert. Overall, the wait staff polite, gave helpful recommendations, & was very present. Note: everything is a la carte, but the dinner portions are enough to satisfy one person. I strongly recommend Tavern Road!"

  • "This place was great. I looked at the menu online and gave it a shoulder shrug. Even with many of our favorite places still available we went for it because we are always looking for dining adventure. It was well worth going. The brussel sprouts and gnocchi were fantastic and I loved the extra spice offered by the red peppers garnishing my rib eye. Very good and so glad I did not go down the dark road of not trying Tavern Road's food. We happily thanked our friends Luigi and Jenny for the suggestion and we'll certainly be back"

  • "Our table for three was ready for our reservation. Noise level super loud. Drinks took at least twenty minutes to arrive. Our entrees took less time than that. Two if us had Skate wing and the third had chicken. Non of our dishes were edible. The Skate tasted awful, was not fully cooked, and was bland and full of bones (it later occurred to me that it would boney because it was a wing). The chicken was dry and rubbery and couldn't be cut off the bone. Our sides were good and the manager sent several over gratis when we didn't reorder entrees but it's a limited menu and two of the items failed."

Service - excellent, attentive. Ambience - great. Parking - 3 parking lots next store, however 2 friends found street parking. Reservations - accepted Cost - mid range Nice evening out. Bar looks great hang out at too. Cannot wait o go back!"

  • "My wife and I really wanted to like this spot; however the food is pretty bad (appetizer and main course), limited menu and over priced. We started with a salad, that on paper appeared to be light, fresh and delicious; but when it was served, it was like eating a heavy, over dressed Caesar. Our main courses were bland - my wife had the roasted chicken that comes a la carte which was dry and tasteless and I had the nightly special which was a filet that came with roasted vegetables - a plate of carrots, really! We wish them luck but definitely won't be returning, especially with Blue Dragon, Sportello, Menton and Row 34 in the neighborhood."

  • "Our party of 7 enjoyed a very tasty meal. Try the roasted bream, lamb shank and tagliatelle. Lamb meatballs and fried chickpeas are must starters. Loved the flavorful ice creams. Good beer selection. Terrific waiter. Open Table made us book a table at 6 for 7 people and the place was half empty the entire time. That was unnecessary , especially the day after Christmas."

  • "Living in Boston on a temporary basis for a few months as part of a work assignment. Took one of my direct reports here by recommendation. Outstanding food and service. Highly recommend asking the server to describe the selections on the menu and choose those that are really unique. The place is not formal and has a positive energy."

  • "I'm not sure if Tavern Road is trying to hard to fit in with the new "foodie" restaurants in the Fort Point/Southie neighborhoods, but I'd call it a flop. Food is all overpriced and the portions, although meant for sharing, are the size of a side dish. the side dishes, are about a half a cup worth of veggies. In addition to the outrageous prices, the food wasn't anywhere near the quality of some of the other new additions. The atmosphere inside is great and really energetic. I'd still to just cocktails if I were you!"

  • "We were a party of 4 one vegetarian... and three major foodies...we had super evening. We chose lots of small plates to start including the charcuterie board. All were so tasty! The ambiance is lovely, we enjoyed to mural....and the bar area is great. Cocktails were excellent. Our main dishes were so yummy! The risotto, out of this world. We had a great time with the cookie board. The service was 100% we never wanted for anything, everyone was personable, and efficient. This restaurant is a keeper. For Sure."

  • "Some really great drinks, we loved the De La Vega cocktail. The menu has some outstanding items, I enjoyed the steak with chimichurri. My husband had the wild mushroom risotto which was delicious. Sides were so so, nothing memorable, I'm always a little annoyed by a restaurant that doesn't give one side dish accompanying the entree, so keep in mind that the the entrees seem really well priced but you have to add the cost of a potato/veggie. We always find an open kitchen so interesting, and this place seems well run and really clean. We'll go back ."

  • "I've been to TR once before for dinner, (and many times to TR food for lunch) and it didn't disappoint this time. We had a 9:00 booking and the table wasn't quite ready, we were happy to stand in the bar area and have some drinks. While we waited they sent us some snacks to help tide us over (which was really nice). The cocktails were great (my favorite was a Waltham Experiment). There were four of us and we shared two appetizers, the ricotta and the heirloom tomato salad. The salad was nice and the ricotta was pretty spectacular. For entrees we had Osso Bucco, the porchetta and a flank steak. Everyone enjoyed their entrees as well. Great meal, great service, and I love the ambience there (I am partial to louder, happening kinds of places)"

  • "The restaurant was REALLY loud...tough to have a conversation. portions are really small and not very tasty and prices were high relatively. menu had a decent number of options, but there were at least a few ingredients which didn't seem to appeal to me in each dish (not a picky eater). Had the lamb osso buco which was not flavorful and pretty dry and wasn't really filling. The waitstaff was nice but almost too attentive, coming to pick up our plates several times before we were even done. Overall I should've heeded to the Eater comments- not worth a return visit."

  • "First time eating here, and was happy with both service and food. We were 15 minutes early for our reservation and the other half of our party ended up being 30 minutes late, but at no point did they make us feel like we were tying up a table. Attentive waiter who took the time to explain the restaurant's concept and the difference in dishes. Everyone was happy with their meals, ranging from soup to steak to pasta. Dessert was really a nice surprise with one of the best cookie plates I have ever seen in a restaurant. Looking forward to our next visit. Worth the price."

  • "My husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary and found the menu to be very limited. My entree of skate wing was good, but unless you order additional sides you will be hungry. My husband's roast chicken appeared red and underdone. Since I was still hungry at the end of the meal I ordered the cloudless chocolate cake, which had a nice flavor, but was hard as a rock and cold. I don't think we will be rushing back."

  • "For cocktail I had Vow of Silence, it was a bit strong but tasted really good. Their cocktail menu is very interesting and will like to go back to try out other drinks. Definitely have an active bar scene than the restaurant (at least during the week). For dinner, I ordered the whole fish which was very moist and delicious. I am Asian and grew up eating Asian food so used to eating a whole fish with bones in it. But don't let that stops you because the fish was really good. We ordered two sides: polenta and gnocchi (both $10 each). Think it was over price and didn't taste so well. Probably not going to order side if I go again but if I do probably try something safer (rosemary potato or something)."

  • "Amazing experience at Tavern Road, from start to finish. Service was great from the moment we walked in the door and the food was exquisite! Fun, lively, open atmosphere but did not overwhelm our table conversation. The Duck Prosciutto was one of the best food items I have ever tasted. Great prices for the deliciously well thought out menu and experience! Highly recommend Tavern Road."
