Diner Reviews
  • "My fiance and I had dinner here for our anniversary. He had the 10oz ribeye steak and I had the blackened salmon. Both were big in size. Although he loved his side dishes, I was disappointed with the risotto as it was bland but loved the mixed vegetables. I highly recommend to eat outdoors as there's a great view of the bay and the bridge."

  • "View is nice, but menu is limited and food overpriced and not that good."

  • "Went for Restaurant week and with only 2 selections for apps and for entrees on the menu you would think the food would be spectacular - it wasn't. The onion soup had undercooked onions leaving it tasteless, the chicken was dry in the center, the steak was good. The dessert was crème brulee and tasted like propane - too much flaming. The restaurant itself has a fabulous view; it is a shame the food doesn't equal the view. It also has a great wine list with odd but very good wines that are reasonably priced. But food rules and here it didn't."

  • "We have dined here several times and have been happy with food and service. I assume, because it's off season, we were the only couple in the restaurant, but surprisingly the service was VERY slow. We'll try again, but this night was disappointing!"

  • "We had a great dinner. The special was a halibut with a pomegranate sauce, and one of the best fish entrees I have had anywhere. The desserts were delicious as well. My only criticism is that the wine list was a little weak. A French option by the glass would have been nice."

  • "Very quiet in off-season (and obviously don't want to eat outside this time of year). Seafood prepared nicely and with attractive presentation. Save room for their fantastic newly created chocolate dessert."

  • "Disappointing food expenses sparse serving size. Crab cake Entree came with popcorn I could count how many kernels on the plate. Another guest had scallops 4 on the plate with 3 baby carrots!!!"

  • "my husband said the crab cakes here rivals the crab cakes at the Four seasons although prepared differently! I agree!! Everything else was dee-lish!! Restaurant manager and wait staff were very friendly and attentive! Great time!"

  • "The food was good although portion size was extremely small for the cost of the entrees. Service was slow and mixed drinks were not very good. They clearly had some end of season staffing issues"

  • "We had a lot of fun dining outside at 800 Bay. As we ate dinner on the lovely deck, patrons lined up for a turn at karaoke. We sang along and had tons of laughs. The food was a bit pricey, but all in all, well worth the great fun."

  • "Great views ! The food was outstanding. Great overall experience. We really enjoyed our dinner."

  • "Had dinner with a group of 7 on a Saturday evening. Restaurant has free valet parking or you can try to find a spot on the street. We chose valet which was fine. Restaurant was not too crowded, has an indoor and outdoor dining area and indoor and outdoor bars. Appetizers and salads were very good. I had the beet salad which was delish. The tuna nachos were also great. Dinner selections were good but not great. The Kobe burger was probably the best deal. When we go back (and we will) we will probably just get salads and appetizers for our meal. The wine list was very impressive."

  • "Service was slow, entrees were lukewarm. Even though there were many empty tables, people without reservations were turned away. They didn't have the wine we wanted & we could only get espresso instead of coffee because we were told that the coffee was bad."

  • "The food was mediocre to poor. The service was confused and unprofessional."

  • "The food was delicious, the service was fabulous! The best part was the female vocalist crooning in the background, she was amazing and at the end of the night everyone was up dancing. Beautiful bay views and outdoor dining. Would definately go back!"

  • "We visited 800 Bay 2 years ago and while the service was a little slow, the food was very good. Last year we switched to Baia, a restaurant right near 800 Bay which was a little pricier but also had very good food. Unfortunately we will now be going to Baia when we are in the area as this year our 800 Bay dinner was unbelievably slow. The food was good but not good enough to get us to go back. The restaurant was almost completely empty, maybe 8 tables at the most. The waiters seemed to be constantly running around and were quite attentive but when it takes over an hour for appetizers (many of which were simply soups or salads), it's time to look elsewhere."

  • "Very unpleasant experience, worst dinner this year! Will NEVER go back. The drinks were weak and overpriced with a $2.00 extra charge. The portions were so small with no bread or vegetables and the risotto was like gum, sticky and horrible. The bar crowd were low class, poorly dressed, rude and obnoxious. The DJ was even worse - we asked the waiter to have her lower the sound as you could not even talk over the loud music - she lowered it for a minute then made it even louder. This place is a real rip-off."

  • "Great view, great service, limited menu and food was mediocre! Too bad would have really liked to like this place! Won't return!"

  • "The restaurant seemed to be in a little "turmoil" staff wise the night we were there with some no shows apparently........but we had no issues and the food was excellent. The drinks were generous....all good. Great view of the water, the causeway bridge and OC across the water.....Good luck! Nice place."

  • "Had an enjoyable evening with my husband. The hostess prepared a table by the window at our request. Service was excellent. They did not charge us for our two glasses of wine because they felt it took too long for our entrees to be brought out. Food was excellent."

  • "Fresh food, helpful staff, enjoyable outdoor dining - tables under cover as well as out in the open, also great bar with seats facing the bay, fun atmosphere!"

  • "The view of the marina and Ocean City are lovely from the terrace room. Jason, our server, was warm and friendly. I really feel sorry for him, because the view and the service were the high points of the evening. The oysters weren't bad except for the jarred Teriyaki and cocktail sauce. The salads were just okay. One of the entrees was edible. My grouper in lemon butter sauce was simply gross and took almost an hour and a half to arrive. The only good part of the meal was the bread pudding and the surprisingly good funnel cake fries. We won't be going back until it is a completely different owner, manager, menu and kitchen staff. We feel really bad for the hostesses, bartenders and servers. They have to take the heat for lousy food."

  • "Place was less than 1/4 full. Food was great. Service left a lot to be desired. Order a glass of wine when entre arrived and had almost completed the entre when the wine arrived. Had to ask for bread twice before we were served any."
    Dined on 7/25/2013
  • "Our waiter was good, that's it. Took 2 1/2 hours to get entree and most was in edible and sent back. Manager said he'd send more wine over during the long wait and never did. Had to argue with same manager over what needed to be removed from the bill since we couldn't even eat it. Manager has no customer service skills whatsoever . As we were leaving, another customer was complaining that they had been waiting for 3 hours for their food and they were fed up. DON'T GO !!!"

  • "We had been a few times last year an loved it when it was under Philippe Chen. Now it needs some work. We only ordered 2 orders of the Asian Tuna Nachos but they were way over dressed and with much too much wasabi. Server was great. Beautiful view."

  • "The food went from fabulous to worse than bad. Salty To the point if being inedible. My friends's 28.00 Chilean sea bass portion was no bigger than 3 inches by 2 inches. I loved the former chef's food This was a horrible experience"

  • "The restaurant is in "transition". Started off ok, had a drink and appetizers, we were finishing the appetizer, the entre was delivered. Tried to get some wine with dinner, our waitress disappeared. Asked multiple times for the table to be cleared, finally put dishes on the adjacent table. Ordered coffee, after about 20 minutes, received but only like warm. After another 15 minutes, never got my cup of decaf, they could not figure out how to get the "machine working" according. We finally gave up, skipped dessert, ask for the check (which took 15 minutes to get). Talked to the manager, he stated that he was a restaurant consultant and had been there for 3 days. Received a gift certificate for future use...took over 30 minutes to get."

  • "I made this reservation for my daughter and her husband for their anniversary. The table was wonderful with water views. Their waiter was another story. My daughter selected the wine. She selected a 2009 (not sure exactly what). The waiter came, opened the wine, and my daughter saw it said 2011. She questioned him; he said they no longer have 2009, and he has to get them to take it off the menu. He then proceeded to pour the wine into her husband's glass for him to taste. My daughter said her appetizer was fantastic. However, when the waiter brought their entree, her order was completely wrong. By the time, he brought her entree, her husband was completely finished his. She took one bite, and they asked for the check and left."

  • "Not really a fair title, but when our waiter introduced himself to our table, the first thing he said was that they were out of Chilean Sea Bass, clams, and perhaps something else. And we had early 6:30 reservations - they ran out that quickly? So 2 in our party ordered the scallops figuring we couldn't go wrong w/a local item, but we were disappointed with the very small portion. The ahi tuna was very sinewy - flavorful, but have had better. Service was just okay. When we questioned why they charged $1 for ice in our drinks, instead of crediting our bill for the $2, the waiter tried to explain it away. Who ever heard of charging for ice????"

  • "Basically we will go back on Fri and Sat nights to hear Shawna sing! We ordered several diffierent things early on a Friday night, and they were out of them. The chef seems to change with the wind right now, but I must say my salmon was very good. I think if they get their act together with the chef, it will be a great place to eat. The bartenders are always great, but Shawna singing is what brings us back along with the view of the Bay."

  • "Terrible service with no apologies for lack of attention. It took 1 hour to even get bread on the table, appetizers were served over a 15 minute period so some had already finished their appetizers when others received theirs.................again, with no acknowledgement that this was inappropriate. Will never go back."

  • "I recently spent a night in Atlantic city with my girlfriend and I wanted to take her out for a romantic dinner. I checked out most of the restaurants in the area and the reason I chose 800 Bay is because it looked very elegant and it had a waterfront view. We were seated inside overlooking the boats in the bay. We both ordered a salad for our entree, a bottle of mineral water, and we split the Lobster MacN'cheese and the Crusted Ahi Tuna appetizers. The food and presentation was absolutely beautiful and this means something coming from me considering I own a BYOB with similar style of cuisine. If you are looking for a romantic place to bring your girlfriend or just have a quiet evening, I would definitely recommend 800 Bay all day!"

  • "We were at Chin twice before. We went to Chin Saturday night 6/15. We had reservations for 6 people at 8:00. Upon arriving, the Manager told us that there would eb a 20-30 minute wait, despite that we had reservations. He told us to go to the bar and get a drink (how about comping us a drink???) Hostess told us that kitchen was backed up. Didnt they look at their resrvation list and plan? At 9:20 we received our appetizers! The Tuna Nacho didnt have any nacho chip. The calamari couldve bebought at Costco and then dumped in their deep fryer. The Shrimp Dumplings ..where's the Shrimp? At 10:00PM (after waiting 2 hours) we received our entrees!!! Will wonders never cease???? How about delivering a little bread to the table while we wait?"

  • "I brought my husband here for a special occasion. When I arrived there were tables overlooking the bay and also tables closer to that room, but we were seated by the kitchen where waiters and hostesses were talking and running in and out. I asked about a table overlooking the bay, but the hostess said I would need to have requested that when I made reservation....The food: don't go there hungry! Although the food is exceptional- there is little of it. My husband had the $36 surf and turf and got approximately 3 ounces of filet mignon and 2 bay scallops. Everything is a la carte - salad - extra/ sides- extra."

  • "We have been to this restaurant a few times now, and have enjoyed our meals there. Our server Amanda was very good. The appetizers were good but not as well done as on other occasions. The menu does change, with new items occasionally popping up. The view of the marina and the meadows is very good.Try to get a porch table."
