Diner Reviews
  • "Luisa was my waitress on Tuesday and she was fantastic!!! She was very knowledgeable regarding the different items on the menu and wanted to ensure we had a wonderful experience. She was such a great waitress I would recommend the restaurant and request that people specifically ask her for any day of the week!"

  • "This was my first time to the roof deck. I made a reservation, but it did not specify that they do not take reservations for the roof. I got there early anyway to ensure a great spot for me and my co-worker, but they would not seat me and both hostess were rude and seemed very young and discombobulated. As I sat at the roof bar and patiently waited for my friend I saw many INCOMPLETE parties sit down. Finally when we were a complete party of TWO I asked for a seat by the glass. She refused and said they only had availability on the other side of the bar even though there were clearly open tables. So angry at this point I decided to leave and I will never suggest this place to colleagues. We do a TON of entertaining. Just lost our business."

  • "Consistently great food and service. Nice ambiance and varied menu. A frequent spot for lunch and dinner. Great location close to Millennium park."

  • "Food not good, service was not great, management terrible. Two meals were inedible. The manager came over and agreed and said to choose another entry. When the bill came they charged us for the more expensive choice instead of just keeping the price of the original selection. When we left and complained all he could say was I'm sorry. We will never come back and definitely not recommend it to anyone."

  • "Treated out of town guests to a delightful dinner overlooking Millennium Park! Food was quality all the way and coupled with the view, absolutely great!"

  • "If you are looking for a good place to take that special client, then look no further than the Tavern on the Park. The upstairs location is a great place to discuss whatever you want and still be heard without shouting, unlike most other Michigan Avenue area restaurants."

  • "Perfect place for those going to a show at Cadillac or Oriental theatre. We informed our server of our limited time window and he was very good at getting back to us and getting our food in timely manner. Enjoyed the meal and ambience. Definitely will go back."

  • "We had a great experience at Tavern at the Park. All the dishes were outstanding. We particularly enjoyed the prime rib and mac and cheese as well as the brisket and rotisserie chicken. Plenty of food: come hungry! Nice ambiance inside although if you can get a table looking out at Millenium park that would be even better."

  • "I treated 3 employees and myself to lunch. We arrived at 1pm, the restaurant itself was still quite busy from the lunch hour crowd, though loud, not too loud we couldn't hear our conversations. Though the food itself was decent, for the price I was expecting something better than what we received. I ordered the chopped salad, though tasty, it proportionately was much more lettuce than any other ingredient (did not equate to a 19 dollar salad). 2 of my co-workers ordered a burger and pork tenderloin special, which were quite generous from the portion perspective, but again for the price, not much else came with them. The service was quite good, when a co-worker received something other than what he ordered, it was replaced w/o question."

  • "We were able to make a reservation on a busy summer Saturday evening. The food was excellent and the service very attentive. I had the scallops, which normally would not be my favorite. They were cooked to perfection. The sauce had a little kick to it which made the scallops flavorful and delicious. My wife had the butternut squash ravioli which was so good that she was reluctant to share. We finished off the night in nearby Millineum Park and continued with a free Grant Park Orchestra concert. all in all, a wonderful evening in Chicago."

  • "The salad was excellent, wine very good, food at best was OK. Could have been good if was hot, but at best was lukewarm. I would try it again, and hope for a better meal next time./"

  • "Their wait staff is beyond compare. No matter how busy, requests were handled quickly with charm and attentiveness. The location is perfect for theatre goers, park attendees, and Loop shoppers. The food is very ordinary which is disappointing. Presentation of the food is uninspiring. A limited wine by the glass list is somewhat problematic although an Oregon Pinot Noir was available which made my day, but looking for a very good Cabernet by the glass was futile. That's surprising for a Chicago restaurant. The plus at this place are the people who work here- congenial and caring."

  • "We were just arriving in the city and Tavern on the Park was so convenient! The service was top-notch. The appetizer and main entree were well prepared, pleasing to the eye and worth writing about. The only disappointment was dessert. While the presentation was good the flavor was terribly bland. I was expecting a grand finale and got a grand flop. Delicious dinner.......forget the dessert."

  • "My service was FANTASTIC! The staff at the door , the server, the manager they were all fantastic !!!! The food was OK , I ordered the meatballs expecting a delicious Italian Treat , that was far from what I received. Other people in my party enjoyed their food. The calarmie , the veggie pasta and the steak burger seemed to be enjoyed ."

  • "Everything about Tavern was fantastic. The hostess was very friendly, the waitress, Veronica I believe was her name, was awesome and very helpful. The food was delicious and we had so much food! Although the place was busy when we were seated we didn't at all feel squished. When leaving the waitress even showed us to the train station through the building. I can't wait to go downtown to eat here again!"

  • "The Matradee was unfriendly, inconsiderate and an overall jerk. I had a 7:15 reservation for two. He made us wait for over 20 minutes to sit because as he described tables of theatre goers were slow in leaving. There were empty tables that I asked about and he dismissed me in a rude fashion. After 20 minutes he sat us at a table that was empty the entire time, the waiter then complained about the way the Matradee handles customers as well as service personnel. Luckily the food was outstanding but I will not return due to the Matradee"

Tavern at the Park was the perfect spot; great view of the park; wonderful bar service; food was terrific...impressed this quasi-foodie group from Manhattan & Boston. • "We were hosting friends for dinner and had a reservation for 6 PM. We had informed our server that we had theater tickets for an 8 PM curtain. Drinks were served, but by 7:30 our meals had not arrived at the table even though we had alerted a floor manager about it. We left the restaurant without having eaten. The dining room wasn’t full or even overly busy the entire time. Drinks (and the invisible meal) were comped as they should have been. How do they remain in business? We won’t be returning to find out. "

  • "I made a reservation days before for a birthday to sit on the roof. When I got there I was put at the back of the queue for rooftop seating... what's the point of a reservation here? The guy doing the reservations had no idea how long it would take to wait for the roof. "30 mins, 1 hour, 2 hours?" His response was I have no idea. If I have a reservation for the roof from days ago and he can't tell me under an hour that's just dumb. We were seated on the sidewalk instead. Food and service were fine but don't expect to enjoy the view."

  • "My husband and I went for a late lunch. We had attentive service and great food. Our table was right in a nook by a window, so even though we were in an office building, it was intimate and had a great view of Lake Front and Michigan Ave. Could see Lake Michigan. My husband grew up with perfect home-cooked Italian pasta, and he gave it a thumbs up. We knew about the restaurant from a friend that was the manager years ago. "
