Diner Reviews
  • "Caprese salad with manchego wafers and roasted the tomatoes. Excellent. . Tuna tar tar tacos. All toppings took them also up a few. Plus generous amount of tuna. Scallops were cooked to perfection. Nice fresh salad complemented them well."

  • "We were visiting Chicago and wanted somewhere near our hotel so we decided on Tavern on the Park. Best desicion we could have made-it was awesome. Our server was outstanding (Marc) and the food was incredible. Thank you for a wonderful evening!"

  • "Tavern at the Park was the perfect selection for us. The restaurant was busy for the lunch hour, but the area we were seated in was quiet and personal for us to enjoy our conversation and spend time catching up. Our server, Marc was great. He offered his service for choosing a nice wine and ran through the daily specials. Marc asked if we wanted to take our time, which we did and he was very accommodating to that request. The meals were plentiful and very tasty. I am sure we will be visiting Tavern at the Park in the future and recommending it to others."

  • "This restaurant is well located north of Millennium Park & convenient for CSO concerts at Orchestra Hall. We had a burger on a pretzel roll with fries which was absolutely delicious! Our waitress was excellent and kept us on schedule for an evening concert at Orchestra Hall. Recommend highly & will be going again!"

Since it is so near to the theater we were visiting that evening it was the perfect spot for us. The food was excellent and the recommended wine was very good. We would definetely visit again."

  • "Host asked if I wanted to be seated at the table while I waited for my friend to arrive which was great. We told our waitress that we had show tickets at Harris Theatre -which is just across the street - and she was very attentive to get us out on time. The broiled halibut with asparagus was delicious. Nice sized portions. Good wine list. Will go back!"

  • "Service was not good at all. Too long a wait for the check and the food. Granted we were a party of 7, however I felt we were left along in a room waiting far too long for food and the check. The food was outstanding however. The atmosphere was nice and the views were exceptional."

  • "The food was delicious, but I was even more impressed by the service. Our waiter asked us if we had any time constraints, which we did. He gently reminded us of the time so we didn't have to worry about it while we were eating. Second, he asked point blank whether there were any allergies at the table, which is ALWAYS appreciated! And last, because we were going to the theatre, I wasn't able to take my leftovers with me. Our waiter kindly offered to put it in the fridge to save it for me and I was able to pick it up a few hours later! If you're out in the theatre district, this is definitely the place to go!"

  • "Having guests from out of town, we wanted a restaurant which was Chicago. Drinks at the bar looking out over Millennium Park was a good start even in winter. Going up to the rooftop and dining while enjoying the city lights was spectacular. Service was excellent and the food did not disappoint. Valet service made for an enjoyable evening, from start to finish."

  • "Been to Tavern dozens of times and it rarely disappoints. I had to mark down the food though, because whenever I go out on a limb and try something new it's not smart. This time I got something called the cheese king or some such and I wouldn't recommend it. Basically a super cheesy burger on toasted bread. Also wouldn't recommend the tuna tacos. Not filling and a little off. Anyway, literally everything else is great and we'll be back."

  • "Tavern never fails to disappoint. They change up the menu seasonally but always leave their greatest-hits classics. From the time you walk in til the time you leave, the service is friendly and attentive - without that horrible hovering feeling. Service is fast but not rushed. The drinks are generous on the pours and the specialty drink list is always fun and cutting-edge. There is a spot for every mood: rooftop in the summer; cozy bar banquet seats with giant windows; a vibrant and huge bar; and four tops for getting business done over lunch. LOVE THIS PLACE."

  • "Went to Tavern to catch up with an old coworker. Chose the place because it was in close proximity to my work. The server was nice but pushy. She kept coming up to us every other minute asking if we decided. Since we haven't seen each other in a while, so this was beyond annoying being interrupted like that. The food was mediocre at best. For the price I was expecting a lot more. The bottle of wine was decent and the Treehouse seating was probably the highlight of the night aside from seeing my friend. In general I would never eat at Tavern again. Not worth it for the price. Atmosphere was nice, but food was awful. There are way too many good places in Chicago than wasting your money at Tavern."

  • "We've been here before. We made a reservation for 5 at a table in the bar before walking to Soldier Field to see the Blackhawks vs. Penguins game. Table was ready. Food was great. Service was great. Beer was great. Game was great. Will be back again."

  • "Had a group of seven people for a business meeting attend dinner. Food was great, service fantastic, tried beer that is finished for 16 days in bourbon barrels that was quite nice. Ambience appropriate. There is always a good experience to be had at Tavern at the Park."

  • "We've eaten at Tavern on the Park many times because we find the quality of the food and service always GREAT. We like the variety offered--from sliders to a great fish dinner. Haven't been disappointed in the service and food in 6 years."

  • "Manager had to get involved and comp us my wife's meal and offer free dessert because twice over cooked steak Diane dish. While polite and apologetic the screw up ruined our rare night out."

  • "There are so many items on the menu that it is difficult to make a choice. No matter. You can be sure that they are all delicious. I have found the flatbreads to be the best anywhere and the onion soup is outstanding. The chicken is nice and moist, the filet mignon is exceptionally tender, and the seafood always fresh. Desserts are a special treat - especially the pecan pie. Very close to the theater district and just across the street from the Harris Theater."

  • "We decided to revisit Tavern on the Park due to its excellent restaurant week menu. We had not been impressed on a prior occasion. The lobster crepes and duck appetizer were outstanding. My fish was very good; my husband and daughter's beef was tasty, but a little tough. The chocolate crime brûlée dessert was outstanding."

  • "The food is one step above cafeteria food, both in preparation and plating. If only it were as cheap as a cafeteria, you might not mind. The only reason to go here is its location; it's one of the very few full-service restaurants in the Illinois Center/Millennium Park restaurant desert."
