Tavern at Lark CreekYet another lovely eveningYet, another lovely evening at the Tavern at Lark Creek! Celebrating a high school graduation and the restaurant was very full! But did not get in the way of impeccable service and great food.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMService needed some help.Service needed some help. We had to get up to reach our ice bucket to refill our own glasses (and finally just moved the bucket closer). We had requested more bread but after a while, the bussers took away our bread and butter plates, and still no bread. I think that someone thought we had already received our main course so they were clearing our table? Then the bread appeared, then some plates, but no knives for the butter. Our main course took a very long time to come out. While we were not in a hurry, we felt forgotten by the staff. The food was very good. All fresh, hot, and nicely presented. I booked this as a graduation dinner, mentioned it to our waiter, but that was also forgotten by the time dessert was served.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat!!!!!!!We went for Sunday Brunch and were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. It is a very charming restaurant. We definitely will return!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWhy haven't I been here?New favorite brunch spot, just north of San Francisco. Get the pacific Benedict and the chilled pea soup. The space is iconic and cosy. Makes you want to stay and enjoy the day under the redwoods. We will be back again and again.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGood and unpretentiousMy wife and I have dined at the Tavern at Lark Creek three times recently. Obviously we liked it. The ambience is very inviting, the free valet parking convenient, the food good, and the prices reasonable for Marin. The old Lark Creek Inn was pretentious and over priced, this is a refreshingly unpretentious approach to using this wonderful old victorian space. One of the things we noticed on our visits was lots of kids, this seems to be a very kid friendly place. You can eat reasonably inexpensively if you pick carefully, or you can go with the more elaborate entrees at high prices. The wines on tap are reasonably priced, and some are even drinkable (but I did not like the chardonnay).5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLamb chop entrée was perfect.Lamb chop entrée was perfect. Waiter recommended the best wine to go with it, and it was a marvelous accompaniment.
Beautiful setting. Stellar service.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasantly SurprisedI went TO THE Tavern when it first opened and was disappointed enough no to go back. Tis time my bride and I started with golden and red beet salad vinaigrette with walnuts and goat cheese. So good it triggered me to try to duplicate it a couple of days later. Then we each ordered the rigatoni Primavera with spring green veg like peas and artichokes and asparagus in a lit olive oil based sauce. Vey nice. Had a scoop of their homemade chocolate ice cream for dessert. Nice meal with seasonal ingredients and no fussy preparation.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a wonderful find!We hadn't been to the new Tavern since the change from Lark Creek Inn, thinking it wouldn't live up to the excellence of Bradley's original venue. Man, were we wrong! Kudos all around - don't miss this place!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Lark Tavern is comfortableThe Lark Tavern is comfortable & warm (with grat outdoor spaces!) and serves wonderful food - truly brilliant dishs without being over the top. The space is inviting; great for friends or family as well as kids (good kids menu that our 3 boys really like). To top it all off, the prices are not bad which makes it a fantastic value.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe took a nice wine, and LarkWe took a nice wine, and Lark Creek Tavern had a $10 off special for teachers--paid for the wine. Service was fabulous, advice on the meal and matching the wine excellent. Very nice, I'll go back again.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent serviceWe went to the Tavern for my husband's birthday, and the level of service was impeccable. Everyone at the Tavern seemed to know it was his birthday and we were seated at a wonderful (comfortable!) table. I really appreciate the Tavern making the evening so special: from great recommendations, to the candle in his butterscotch pudding, to the perfect balance of space and attention.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMCasual ChicWe like the "new" Tavern at Lark Creek. It is a big improvement over the old Lark Creek Inn, which was overpriced and over pretentious. The new place is informal, reasonably priced, has good food, is great for kids, and definitely has joined our "we'll go again" list. My wife had a very good burger, and I thoroughly enjoyed my short ribs. The short ribs were better than the ones I had at the much more pretentious El Paseo in Mill Valley. Free valet parking was an unexpected plus. The on tap wines were a bit disappointing and a bit overpriced, but I applaud their effort to have some modestly priced wines available. While I have given it four stars in absolute terms, in terms of value for money I would say it is five star.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMCharming diningSet in a redwood glen in the picturesque town of Larkspur, this old-fashioned house is the site of a charming restaurant. Cozy bar area, and a few steps down, a spacious dining room which opens out to patio dining amid redwoods. Food overall is very good, especially the butterscotch pudding-mousse?- for dessert.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't wait to go back!We loved our Mother's Day Brunch.. the food was great and well priced as well. Love the environment in a renovated "home"..our waitress was so sweet and inviting.. would love to have had a little bread with our meal.. Otherwise, FABULOUS!
Loved the Mimosas and Salmon Dish.. Butterscotch Pudding with Chantilly Cream was SO GOOD.
We are already going back for Father's Day!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been going here for overI've been going here for over 20 years and it still is a "Standout" for Sunday Brunch.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA destination stop in the Bay AreaWe've been going to the Lark Creek since back in the '70s. Through changes in ownership and management the food has always been excellent, and there's no better place to relax than the outdoor seating.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional service, freshExceptional service, fresh ingredients. Asparagus soup not to be missed while in season.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant dining area, uncrowdedPleasant dining area, uncrowded with a feeling of privacy, reasonable selection and prices. Prix fixe dinner allows one to easily add a small version of any of the regular salads plus dessert to one's entree. One person said the trout was tasty enough without any sauce needed. The hint of mint was good in the braised lamb fusilli. The papardalle noodles were on the chewy side. We ate indoors but also noticed people enjoying lovely outdoor tables.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThey have the most professionalThey have the most professional and friendly service I have ever experienced.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMA Gem in the Redwoods of LarkspurWe were early for a reservation in the evening so took a walk across the street through a quiet residential neighborhood in a lovely park-like setting. The restaurant, a converted 19th century home, sits in a grove of soaring redwoods which provide a soothing cool on a warm afternoon.
We sat outside and started with mac n'cheese croquettes, smoked trout salad, asparagus salad and a Caesar which the chef kindly split on 2 plates. Warm Parker House rolls and soft butter came a few minutes before salads, giving us a nibble with an Aviation and nice Merry Edwards sauvignon. Lamb chops, steak frites and NY steak were our entrees and a gooey chocolate cake and butterscotch pudding completed a fine meal. A gem that is waiting for rediscovery..4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat food and service ingreat food and service in a beautiful setting! the prime rib on Saturday evenings is a must!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden Gem!The outdoor dining is in a romantic setting overlooking a creek with a canopy of trees. The menu was varied with quite a few selections in each course and everything we tried was memorable.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLark Creek Tavern SurvivedEarly 2012 we stopped going here because the menu and food was terrible. We tried it again last weekend and found a new menu and very good food so we'll be back. Very kid friendly so if you are looking for date night then come after 7:304/21/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent cuisine, idyllicExcellent cuisine, idyllic garden dining & a good value.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe really enjoyed our SundayWe really enjoyed our Sunday brunch at the Tavern at Lark Creek. The atmosphere is beautiful. The food was really good and the service was great. We thought that the prices were really reasonable for such a special place. The benedicts were priced at $14 to $16 which is only a couple dollars more than you would pay at any low key neighborhood place with nowhere near the atmosphere of this beautiful restaurant. We will defintely keep it in mind for future dining out.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great time. Also,We had a great time. Also, our server was just great. We'll go back!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat even with food intolerancesI love this restaurant. Our party was my husband and I (both in our 50's), my 88 year old aunt and our 15 year old daughter. Both my daughter and I have numerous food intolerances including gluten, dairy, soy and egg. They did a wonderful job of providing food that made all of us happy. I wished we lived closer so we could go regularly.
We started our dinner at 5:30 and it was nice and quiet. By 7ish on a Friday it was noisier than I prefer.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a pleasure to dineAlways a pleasure to dine at the Lark Creek Tavern. Our waiter wasn't of the caliber I normally expect, but the other servers and hostesses were superb.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been coming here forWe have been coming here for 20 years. Always a winner! Thanks for another memorable evening.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were greeted buy the valletWe were greeted buy the vallet team. They actually seem as if they were glad we were there. The hostess was smiling, friendly, and welcoming. Our table was ready. The room was warm and pleasant. The food was very good. The service team was friendly, helpful, and caring. They made it seem like they really wanted us to have a good meal. It was Easter Sunday, so they had a prie-fix menu that was a little more than we expected, but the choices were good, and we felt quite full when we left.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome service .... Service always attentive.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWE often eat at the Lark Creek.WE often eat at the Lark Creek. The service is always good, in fact we ordered cocktails the last time we had dinner there, there was a 10 or so minute delay nothing that we have not had in other places, but our waitress gave us the drinks on the house because of the delay.
The food is very good, we are always seated as soon as we arrive for our booking. The atomsphere is lively.
All in all a get place.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was my first time at theIt was my first time at the Tavern and I was pleasantly surprised. I will definitely go back again.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMPricey, but excellent winePricey, but excellent wine list, featuring many California wines not available to the general public. Food was quite good, leaning toward the comfort-style as opposed to the fussy-style; yet still featuring items (like sweetbreads) that are not available at your local diner.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had not had the opportunityWe had not had the opportunity to eat at Lark Creek Inn in years. So, when we discovered that the menu had changed, it was an excuse to go again. We were not disappointed; food was fantastic and service was execellent. The restaurant is situated in the redwoods of Marin and is a beautiful location. Right off the 101 yet you feel miles away!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe liked our food, we thoughtWe liked our food, we thought that our waiter was outstanding BUT the noise level was a real downer. We could not hear each other across the table.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
