Diner Reviews
  • "Food adequate but front hosting staff very disorganized. We have had several problems with inadequate communication or lack of knowledge about the menu and availability of tables."

  • "A quiet corner in bustling Reston Town Center wher a good meal and quiet conversation coexist peacefully. Regionally-sourced and inspired fresh menu and attentive if somewhat unsophisticated service. Pretty room with reasonable prices and a surprisingly varied menu for a hotel dining room. Nice alternative to typical Town Center experience."

  • "We chose this restaurant over another because this one was much quieter. The breakfast foods were disappointing- overcooked and not very interesting. We had the egg white frittata, an omelet, and the scrambled eggs. Nothing seemed very fresh or inspired; perhaps it was the late hour (about 11:30). The coffee was way too strong. If we go back to Reston Town Center for brunch we will try a different restaurant."

  • "Met family there for brunch. Ysabel was an amazingly friendly and helpful waitperson - felt very home-like, but better! Wide array of food choices for carnivores on buffet. Could do with more options for those who can't/don't eat eggs."

  • "This was my first time dining at Tavern 64 and I was extremely impressed by the food. I loved that every menu item came from a locally sourced farm; it creates a very special dining experience. As outstanding as the food was, our server was extremely kind but could have been more attentive. Overall, I will definitely be returning and would recommend it to anyone looking for delicious food!"

  • "Pork Belly was said to be like ham that melts in your mouth. It was pure fat. Don't order this dish. Scallops were pretty good but they were not properly cleaned - Crunch - crunch."

  • "Cheerful atmosphere and tasty farm-to-table breakfast buffet. Quite a few large tables for groups. Nice outdoor seating."

  • "Service was slow and cordial. We arrived at 2215 and felt a bit like we were an inconvenience. Main course of ribs was actually really good though"

  • "I had lunch with five family members here. The salads, soup, and burger choices were delicious. I appreciated the locally sourced food. The wait staff was very attentive and accommodating."

  • "Took my wife for dinner before a concert, the server really set the stage for a great evening get. He was knowledge about the menu, restaurant, and the neighborhood. Menu was unique and most of all pleasing. I'll be back"

  • "the farm to table emphasis is in style and appealing and the ingredients seem to be superb but the food prep just doesn't quite make it. Other dining experiences are far superior. Too bad because Tavern 64 is pleasant, has a great location, and could be wonderful. The good news??? If you want to talk, it is about the only place in Reston where you can have a quiet meal."

  • "Food was just ok, noise level was way too high. Silverware was being dryed and sorted in the restaurant. And it was Fathers Day."

  • "Met the friendly Chef Sean at an outdoor festival and after a brief discussion of his fare, how he buys locally and the excitement he exuded in talking about his menu we cancelled our other brunch plans and made them for Tavern 64. What a smart move we made - brunch was fantastic from the hard-to-find Corpse Reviver cocktail (made perfectly by the way), to the chicken and waffles and my wife's custom omelette, the meal was excellent, came out hot, on a warm plate and was the perfect size to fill us up but not make us pine for a 1pm nap. (that came later). Thank you the the staff and especially Chef Sean for loving your job and making us feel so welcome."

  • "I came here with my family to enjoy brunch and made reservations ahead of time since we were celebrating Father's Day. They nicely called the day prior to confirm our reservations and to let us know that our parking ticket at the Hyatt garage could be validated, if needed. There was no special Father's Day brunch menu, but it was great to see that the regular weekend brunch menu listed food source information from local vendors. I only wished there were more creative choices. The restaurant had decent ambiance. Spaces were wide enough for comfortable seating. Once the dishes arrived, the food itself felt underwhelming. Coffee refills were spotty. Our waiter was a bit unorganized and awkward."

  • "The luncheon menu is varied and focused on good sustainable food products from local vendors. It was good that our server pointed out the salad choices could be embellished with meats. Two of us chose the scallops on arugula salad. A very luscious taste treat and a plentiful serving that allowed satiety without being stuffed. Our third diner had the Caesar with chicken and was equally satisfied. The price for lunch was just right. We will return for lunch. Can't comment about other meals. We used a coupon acquired through the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival--nice to have the restaurant participate in the fundraiser for GRACE (Greater Reston Arts Center) with this thank you coupon."

  • "Excellent and interesting faire. Bison was particularly to my liking and taste preferences pork chop and side selection was also delicious on a separate occasion."

  • "Love the sustainability and sourcing of ingredients. Our waiter was not the greatest, despite the few other guests in the restaurant. Food was good, not spectacular. "

  • "If this place wants to be more than your typical hotel restaurant doing room service for people that may not visit it ever again, they should try to be more creative. Visiting once is fine, food is good, but since the menu is quite limited, after 2nd or 3rd visit I have no reason to go back (it is not THAT good). "

  • "I thought that tavern 64 would be a more exciting. Prices were high and food and drink were underwhelming. We got a few small plates. The meat and cheese plate needed more crustini. The Brunswick stew was very bland. I had a vegetarian roll for dinner and the portion size was good, but it could have had more flavor. Chocolate cheesecake was the best part. Very good cheese flavor, not as chocolaty as I thought it could have been. "

  • "Would go back in a heartbeat. Was looking for a place to have a post-Law School grad dinner with my large family. Most of the typical DC places are such a pain to get to, and with my fiance being a Vegan, it's also kind of hard to find a nice place that suits us all. Tavern 64 offers variety, is hugely accommodating, and their staff was so friendly. They called to 1. make sure we would still be on time for our reservation (not in a rude way!) since it was a large party and 2. to see if it would be a special occasion or just a casual gathering. I mentioned that it was, indeed, a special day and they did their best to make it a celebration for us! And their vegan fare is creative, not just boring salads, soups, or pastas! Bonus? Vegan cake!"

  • "Tavern 64 has a nice vibe, is quite pleasant, prices are very reasonable and they have a good assortment of wines and beers. The one thing it could improve upon is some lighter fare. We've been twice and both times thought that the menu would be enhanced with something lighter on the menu. There are interesting choices, but not much in the way of less heavy food. At our last visit, I ordered the scallops and you would think that with just 3 scallops on the plate that it wouldn't be very filling, but the scallops sit on top of thickly cut bacon and cheesy grits. I could only eat part of my meal. I'm not giving up on this place, but I'm hoping next time there will be something in addition to beef stew, bison burgers, etc."

  • "The wines were off temperature. The champagne/sparkling wine was definitely on the warm side. That said, I had the rockfish and it was wonderful. Good locally procured in all respects and well put together. My wife had the bison burger and it too was fabulous."

  • "Tavern 64 is a great addition to the Reston Town Center and it may be one of the best restaurants in our area. The combination of food, service, and ambiance can make for a very special evening."

  • "I met with some colleagues for dinner, and was delighted by the variety and quality of the food, and the emphasis on local ingredients. Definitely would like to come back when the menu transitions to summer. Based on my experience, I suspect the menu will be great. The service was wonderful. Kudos to Jennifer for being helpful and spot on with her suggestions."

  • "A diner feel to the place unlike the pics on their website which look trendy. Upon arrival for our reservation, no table was set up and a chair was pulled up to the end of a 4 top to accommodate our party of 5. - The salmon benedict was very dry. - I could not taste the maple in the maple sausage gravy on the chicken and waffles. The gravy was salty and left you craving something sweet. - The bison burger and side salad was delicious and fresh. - In the Tavern Mary, the taste of the worcestershire sauce took over and it was "beefy" tasting and hard to finish. The waiter checked in often but always rushed off before we could ask for anything. Sodas are not on the menu and are $4 which seemed steep for the venue."

  • "The restaurant was a nice place to hang out for a few hours and catch up with friends. The food was not bad. It was not stellar either. Same with the service. It was not bad, but it was not stellar. The food is interesting. There are some new twists on dishes and the food is supposed to be locally sourced. I would go again, but it is not a place I am dying to go back to. If you are at the Reston Town Center and your favorite spot is booked and the wait is too long, then Tavern 64 is a decent alternative."

  • "In all fairness, our party of 5 all ordered omelettes, all completely different. When they arrived to the table, they were all placed in front of us incorrectly (it would be hard for me to know which was which based on looks alone). It wasn't until we started eating that we realized we all go the wrong plate. Frankly, I could probably have made a better omelette in the comfort of my home. But, I'm sure omelettes aren't the place to showcase culinary talent. Our server was wonderful. He had stepped away to the restroom when our food arrived, so wasn't able to oversee delivery. But, he humbly attempted to make up for it as much as possible ---- checked in often, made recommendations, offered additional food. I would recommend with caution. "

  • "Staff totally ignored or forgot previously made arrangements for birthday celebration. Despite calling in advance with a birthday notification and informing a staff member when we arrived no one seemed aware of the occasion. At the end of the meal I had to tell our server twice and it created an awkward situation. The server said he didn't know."

  • "Tavern 64 is my favorite restaurant in Reston. The food is prepared well and ingredients are fresh. My favorite dessert there is the sweet potato pecan pie with vanilla gelato - so delicious! I've had almost everything on the menu and I love it all!"

  • "First visit some months ago was awesome. Went back this time and menu was disappointingly limited, and service was lackadaisical at best. So dissapointing."

  • "Outstanding food, but had to wait for it. Too loud to carry on a coversation while waiting. Rock fish excellent and it wasn't my first choice, out of Monk fish by 7:45."

  • "I loved Tavern 64 about one year ago and recommended it to many. However, the past couple of times I've been there, I've noted that the quality of the food is not as good as it was earlier. Last week, I tried the monk fish dish; was extremely unimpressed that the fish was in a few small chunks covered with a mound of watercress. I was, however, impressed with the service and the wine options. Hopefully, the chef will step it back up several notches; otherwise, would only recommend this place for drinks and maybe a small plate -- such as the jalapeno cheddar grits -- or salad. "

  • "This was our second time at the restaurant and the experience was definitely better. The food was much better seasoned and the wine was good. We've had the porkchops and sweet potato pie as dessert. "

  • "Beers on tap are far better than typical restaurant selections. Food was really delicious! Great fit for Reston Town Center dining. Also offers smoothies and juice blends and other options for the super-health conscious. Great for a crowd with a diverse palate."

  • "Tavern 64 takes local more seriously than most, and to everyone's benefit. It is quite unique in its menu and very high in quality in everything I have ever ordered. Their unique blend of "small plates" , salads and normal (larger dishes) gives more choice to the scope of appitite variance in a dinning party. Prices are quite reasonable. The pork chop was one of the dishes that stole the show, but everyone was happy in their choices!"
