  • "Two of our group had the buttermilk chicken sandwich and said it was the best lunch they have had in a long time. I had the applewood smoked salmon and did not realize it was not a fillet but it turned out okay. I had the Gem Salad last time I was there and it was awesome.Patio is noisy if there is a lot of traffic but it is Alberta so we still love to sit outside anyways. Nice chairs. Service is amazing and we all commented on it when we left. I will continue to recommend this place to my friends"

  • "We sat on the patio so the road noise was a little loud off of Jasper but aside from that I have nothing negative to say. The service, the pacing, the food, and the drinks were all delightful. 1903 is one of the top restaurants in the city and in the three times I've been there has remained consistent."

  • "The food didn't blow me away, but the menu is interesting and the service was excellent. The best dish of the night was the mozzarella sharing platter - the smoked one was my favorite. Most disappointing? Either the steak or the duck confit tacos. The steak was a bit boring and the tacos were aggressively spicy (usually I love spicy food). Cocktails were amazing! The room is gorgeous and the patio looks awesome."

  • "The Korean Fried Cauliflower (KFC) was amazing! Our table of 5 all had a really amazing meal at Tavern 1903, three people in our party had the short ribs complete with truffle parmesan fries, one person had the salmon and the fifth person tried the "pig-nic". There were no complaints from anyone. Food is terrific, lots of flavor and stood out from other downtown restaurants. The atmosphere was nice for a group, we didn't feel like we had to whisper. Great spot for dinner with friends."

  • "I do not like restaurants that are loud. Between 5 - 6:30 noise level was perfect for holding conversation. By 6:30 it was getting too loud so we left without desert. But overall the food was excellent."

  • "I had booked this restaurant after a gruelling contest prep for cbbf finals. I was excited to have a reward meal post show. These do not happen often. The service was really slow and after an exhaustive day my group and I were going to leave before our mains came. It took them an hour to get us our mains. Not pleased. However, the food is good. But would not plan on going again soon."

  • "We like this restaurant but I found that there isn't enough vegatarian options The cedar plant salmon was too smokey to our liking and the chicken was dry. The starters were very good. Also the grilled tomatoes with the fish were not rope enough so they had very little flavor Also. It took too long between our appetizers to get our mains."

  • "This is one of our favourite new places to dine! The food is amazing and love the history of the architecture! I suggest the pig-nic or the ribs; my meal has been cooked perfectly every time. The jack Daniels chocolate cake is a must for anyone that loves chocolate. Enjoy!"

  • "My wife and I had our anniversary dinner at Tavern 1903, I would definitely go back and would highly recommend to anyone who asks. We started off with the "KFC" the Korean Fried Cauliflower, from the crisp coating to the flavour explosion of the sauce. UNBELIEVABLE. My wife then ordered the cedar plank salmon, and I ordered the Braised short ribs. I can't say enough how enjoyable both meals were, the fish had a nice sear and a subtle flavour of the cedar smoke. The short ribs melted in your mouth and had a very nice flavour sauce. Amazing dinner, can't wait to go back."

  • "We sat on the patio in a nicely shaded spot, comfortably out of the hot sun, but still able to enjoy the beautiful day. It's a bit noisy being on Jasper Avenue, but tolerable. Not recommended for a quiet romantic two-some though. Food was great--including gluten free options. Loved the truffle fries--I could smell them and couldn't resist. My salad was more like a Caesar salad than I expected with a similar creamy dressing and romaine hearts. The bacon is de-lish! All this is sounding very high fat and unhealthy but there were better options for a stricter healthier diet, though not many. Service was pleasant. Wine by the glass was good and well-priced. I had a NZ Sauvignon Blanc, a perfect option for hot summer days."

  • "The food was exquisite and our server was the best. We shared the truffle oil fries, KFC and Strawberry Burratta -- all delicious. The garlic lemon chicken with goat cheese mashed potatoes was perfectly done. Generous servings. For dessert, the chocolate cake wit Nutella whipped cream was a winner! Our server was top notch -- consummate professional. He knew his stuff - was able to articulately describe the many dishes on the menu, helped with recommendations, checked regularly to ensure we were good, and he was even able to provide us with a history of the building -- all done with a smile and with patience - never felt rushed. Will definitely go back and recommend to friends. Thanks!"

  • "Very enjoyable evening with great food. It was our first visit and we'll definitely be back - lots of things to try. The KFC and the Pig-nic were excellent. For dessert we had the maple bacon doughnuts and the liquid cheesecake parfait. I highly recommend the doughnuts - a great combination of sweet and salty. The cheesecake parfait, though, was too sweet for me and a bit cloying. The one thing I would like to see added to the menu would be a light dessert choice - an in-house sorbet or something else of that nature for those of us who love dessert but don't always want to have something rich."

The first option for dessert was doughnuts laced with bacon. How absurd!"

  • "Although the food was good when it arrived at our table, the kitchen was unable to get it out in a reasonable period of time . We asked to speak with the manager and the waitress brought us a plate of devilled eggs to placate us. We asked her to return them to the kitchen as we did not care for eggs. When the manager did eventually come to our table she showed little sensitivity to the issue, accepting no responsibility. She first began by telling us our order had not been as delayed as we knew it was and then saying two of the dishes took longer to prepare than others. We certainly were not left with the impression that this establishment cared about customer service or whether we returned as they were busy enough. We won't return."

  • "Our first time experience was so-so. We had the flank steak and lobster roll for lunch, both entrees were $20 each. The thick cut flank steak was relatively tender, but also very sinewy and chewy since it's a cheaper cut of beef. The lobster roll didn't come close to what you get in the maritimes; it wasn't very big and didn't have a lot of lobster meat. Overall, it was over priced for what we paid. Our server did her job, but could have raised the bar by being more enthusiastic. $80 lunch for two entrees, two glasses of wine and gratuities."

Food REALLY salty and meatballs tough. So noisy -not "energetic" - tough to hear people at the table. Best part of the meal were the cocktails."

Mains were both fantastic, rich flavours with thoughtful sides. Everything was cooked perfectly, arrived hot and tasted great. Highly recommended. "
