Taste Restaurant - PlymouthIn the Amador wine country.Wonderful, wonderful dining experience. This was a girls afternoon out. Looking forward to returning with my husband, would definitely recommend.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic meal!I love when a restaurant has happy guests! We were there on a Friday night and although the room had empty tables when we arrived it quickly filled, with happy guests...The tables are amply spaced so even when full, you do not feel crowded. The beet salad is wonderful and the duck confit, amazing. You will not be disappointed.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Night OutWe'd been to Taste a year and a half ago and remembered it as excellent. Now it is even better. I had the Filet Mignon and my wife had the Prosciutto-wrapped Guinea Hen. Both were excellent, the filet bar far the best I've ever had. I recommend the mushroom cigars as appetizer.
I've been to Chez Panisse and prefer Taste.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding!Outstanding food and service. We wish this place was closer to home!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant Drive to PlymouthThe food (lunch time) was very good. The desserts were most excellent.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA great find in Gold CountryTaste is a great little restaurant in a sleepy little Gold Rush era town. The food was delicious, with exquisite presentations. My sea bass special was cooked to perfection. The filet was mouthwatering. We also had the Mushroom cigars as an appetizer. The staff was knowledgable, friendly and made great recommendations for food and wine.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, perfectlyExcellent food, perfectly prepared, served at the right temperature. Friendly, helpful, caring staff. Elegant but not too elegant! We had a great time.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDinning to impressIf your guests haven't been here before, they are in for a major surprise and a delightful evening. Great service, excellent food using local resources and a well thought out list of wines and beers. You wouldn't expect a treasure like this to be in this location--Times Square, yes.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant was amazingThis restaurant was amazing from beginning to end. Loved the mushroom cigars!!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ate at TAste two nightWe ate at TAste two night in a row...and enjoyed each meal.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother memorable evening.Another memorable evening. Wonderful menu with not to be missed small plates and inventive entrees.Service is attentive without being overbearing. Our favorite restaurant by far!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMJust the right sizeIt's our third visit to Taste. The food is always outstanding. It's the only restaurant where we eat an appetizer, main course and dessert. Normally we are served TOO MUCH food so we can't finish the main course, and never have room for dessert. Your portions are always just perfect. Every time we have visited, we have enjoyed conversing with people on both sides of us. We even shared wine with the couple next to us. Can't wait to return.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food but a busy SaturdayGreat food but a busy Saturday dinner crowd delayed entree by 30 minutes (after appetizer was finished). Dinner lasted 3+ hours for four people.
Make sure to try their wine "Handmade". Great Pinot Noir.
Great food, very good service.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely wonderful! WeAbsolutely wonderful! We were celebrating my birthday with friends and the staff made me feel really special. They decorated my desert with Happy Birthday written in chocolate and they gave me a card signed by all of the staff. Each of our food selections were excellent and the wine list is extensive. We will be back!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMShould have a Michelin star!!!Taste on Friday 4/26: Amazing!! Fabulous, as always!! This place has a wonderful setting, a warm and welcoming atmosphere (light jazz in the background), the most incredible food, and exemplary service. Consistently . . .never fail. We have dined at Taste a half a dozen times, and would be there once/week if they were closer. We drive the 50 miles gladly, though, because we know this will be an experience. I had the sturgeon entree, preceeded by the new fresh Spring salad . . .yum!!! My husband had the mushroom cigars and the filet mignon, with the most incredible potato galette. Our waitperson, Michael, was spot on with gracious and well paced service. . .as always.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter a day of wine tasting - TasteAgain, a great meal at Taste. We have been enjoying Taste since it opened. We have gone to the Shenandoah Valley for years for wine tasting, and Taste is the cherry on the Sundae!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food and they accommodateWonderful food and they accommodated for my lactose intolerance so well! Not only did they substitute my side, but the whole meal tasted as if there wasn't a substitution at all! Beautiful display and great taste.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGourmet Gem in Plymouth DesertAn amazing gem in tiny "downtown" Plymouth, this is a super friendly, refined dining spot. The menu is creative and unusual, the food is delicious. Plymouths other claim to fame is the large collection of wineries in the Shenandoah hills nearby. Of course it deserves to have at least one fine restaurant. "Taste" is it.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMTaste SupremeTaste continues to deliver top drawer food and service in a convivial atmosphere. The quality of the food remains exceptional. The mushroom cigars are still a must try if you have not already done so. The pate appetizer is exquisite. You have a wide variety of entrees to choose from. During our most recent visit with friends we enjoyed the scallops and duck comfit style offering with a thin duck skin crisp overlay. The wine selection is more than adequate and features local Amador wineries augmented by other California and selections as well as imported wines. The Prosecco was a nice beginning to the meal. The desserts are terrific and always have a few specialties that inspire.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMI highly recommend this restaurantI highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who enjoys great food, presented well, with excellent service. Very good wine list. worth the trip, and great for lunch on the weekends.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Food & Service, PRICEY!As usual, the food was excellent, however prices have risen and value per plate has fallen in my opinion. We all had the lamb dish and it was overcooked. In the past, I've given Taste five stars but considering the cost / benefit, it has fallen. A dinner for four with a modest bottle of wine ($68) cost $400!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Food and Service! Our dinner and our server, Michael, were perfect. The signature mushroom cigars and the rosemary gnocchi were outstanding appetizers. I would go back just for these! The short ribs and filet mignon were just the right choices for a first visit - done just right. Michael recommended just the right Zinfandel to accompany our meal. And the absolutely delicious dessert called Beer and Pretzels cannot be missed. The staff all wished my husband a Happy Birthday and brought out a little surprise creme brûlée and tiny chocolates. Couldn't be better!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a delight.Their food is consistently outstanding as is their service. Worth the drive and more. You will not be disappointed...ever!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMPhenomenal food, with amazingPhenomenal food, with amazing variety. Presentation the best that I can recall. Staff was perfect, always there but never seeming to hover around.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a restaurant thatThis is a restaurant that is worth spending the night away from home to enjoy a meal. Come early enough to visit some of the nearby wineries, book a room at the Shenandoah Inn down the road, and enjoy a gourmet feast! The mushroom cigars are a signature dish and a good way to start the meal, but everything on the menu is prepared to perfection. Local wines are featured and wonderful bread baked at a local bakery; I even got some to bring home. I can't wait to go back and take friends with me.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBEST RESTAURANT IN THE AREA!We drive from Sacramento to "Taste" on most all special occasions because it is my favorite restaurant! The food and staff are THE BEST!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMininscule portions, humongous billI've been to France so I know all about eating for sheer pleasure versus to feel stuffed like we do here. But Taste is getting carried away with this theme. When in France, I always felt satiated after eating a pricey dinner. I never left feeling downright hungry. Right after we got home from Taste, however, my wife and I had to make PJ sandwiches because we were still quite hungry. And that was AFTER we footed the $270 bill for us and another couple who we were treating. We've been to Taste before and I don't remember having price shock, nor leaving hungry. Something has changed. The food was quite good, but no one had that "OMG mmmmm!!!" experience you would expect with such prices. Probably won't return soon I'm afraid.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBest filet I have ever had!Excellent service and the food was divine. Best filet I have ever had.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had heard great thingsWe had heard great things about Taste and it didn't disappoint. Excellent across the board.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMTaste is by far the best restaurantTaste is by far the best restaurant in the entire Amador area and Sacramento. Service, food and presentation. All excellent.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMabsolutely delicious! Howabsolutely delicious! How amazing to find a restaurant of this caliber in such a small town.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service and very creativeGreat service and very creative menu. Food was outstanding.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a lovely time. I hadWe had a lovely time. I had the best meal I can remember. Just amazing.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMPlymouth GemWe've eaten here twice now and have not been disappointed. Taste is a real gem in this very small time. Our waiter, Michael, waited on us both times. His description of the different menu items made me want to order one of everything. I could taste everyone. His service was attentive but not hovering. The food and flavors were so well balanced. The halibut cheeks were to-die-for. Will go back next time we stay in Plymouth.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food! Great service. The mushroom cigars were excellent, as expected. The staff split the servings perfectly between five of us, lovely presentation. The pate was very good with the the crispy brussels sprout leaves & shaved cheese on toasted baguettes, the sharpness offset the pungent livery flavor of the pate. The beet salad, garlic & cheese soup were delicious. Our entrees: the filet, good but unremarkable, a bit overdone; the guinea hen, tender & very flavorful; the swordfish was great, she said the side dishes weren't what she would have thought as complimentary but they were quite good; the duck confit was very good but the short ribs were the best, braised perfectly and full of flavor. The creme brûlée trio was delicious and every bit was devoured.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been to Taste severalI've been to Taste several times, and this was the first time it was packed when we arrived, also the first time that the service was less than outstanding. We had to wait longer than expected to be greeted, wait 15 minutes for our table, wait for bread, and ask for the wine list. Once things settled down and the crowd dissipated, the noise level dropped, service improved, and the food was excellent.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMEat here. And oftenEvery dish that three of us had was different and delicious
Starting with the appetizer Dungeoness crab cake with asparagus on thin lasagna noodle
Delicious pork loin with Jerusalem artichokes and braised spring onions was sublime
The lamb two ways was clearly a man sized portion of meat.
The notes don't capture especially evening was
Great food great service and really great wines too
Eat here4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways Fantastic!!Every time FANTASTIC!! Best restaurant for consistently fabulous food! What a gem and what a great Vegetarian menu-I've never been so spoiled for choice!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMoutstanding dining in tinyoutstanding dining in tiny little plymouth. worthy of five stars on anyone's rating system.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were there on a ThursdayWe were there on a Thursday night. Everything was superb. The food service was also great. We were seated in the back dining room which unfortunately does not have any windows. Not that the view of downtown Plymouth is anything to look forward too. However, I would definitely go back. It was my wife's birthday and they decorated her dessert plate in frosting acknowledging it. Nice touch.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMTaste is a 5 star restaurantTaste is a 5 star restaurant hidden away in the sleepy little town of Plymouth. Spend a day wine tasting in Shenandoah Valley, then top it off with the best meal you can buy in the Sacramento region! Service is always wonderful - this is my favorite restaurant! Mushroom cigars are rich, earthy - a great appetizer to start the meal. And if you are vegan or gluten free, they have special menus to meet your needs. For a special dining experience, highly recommend!4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous as always. ServiceFabulous as always. Service was a little slow I think because they were swamped.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMTaste never disappoints. EvenTaste never disappoints. Even on a busy day like Easter Sunday, all our dinners were wonderful, pacing was pitch-perfect, and the Handmade pinot noir made by the chef owner's brother was a real find.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, the service wasAs always, the service was over the top. We were celebrating a birthday, and everyone was extremely accommodating and proactively made it very special for us. The cigars were yummy, and the use of cauliflower in two of the dishes was very imaginative, both in the presentation and the taste. The Taste sandwich was delicious, but a little difficult to eat. The meat was good, but the bread was a little tough to cut. Anywhere else it would have been wonderful, but at Taste you just expect more. Great restaurant.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMTaste - the great differenceWe have been wanting to go there for a long time
Finally made and it was well worth the wait
Will bring a group with us next time we have a foody family and
They will love it
Do not pass up a great dinning experience3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAbove average. The soup andAbove average. The soup and sauces and presentation were top notch. The entree's were good but not great.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe thought the food was excellent,We thought the food was excellent, but overall, it was simply too expensive when compared to similar restaurants and dining experiences. We don't plan to return because of the high cost.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been coming to thisWe've been coming to this area every Easter for the past 6 years & always make it a point to have dinner at Taste - our favorite restaurant in this area. Never disappointing. Great food & great service.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMSublime dining in middle of nowhereWe had a delectable dinner -- highlights: mushroom cigars, garlic cheddar soup; meltingly tender short ribs of beef, splendid zinfandel by the glass. Service was impeccable -- warm, attentive, unobtrusive, efficient. Presentation was inventive. The bill, considering the quality of the food and drink, was moderate. What a happy surprise to find such a terrific eatery in a one-horse town.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were there for for ourWe were there for for our 32 anniversary...RED CARPET Debbie your unreal a mind reader and server The Best3/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
