Spaciously situated tables meant we weren't commenting with neighboring parties. The food was spectacular. The calamari at Taste is the best on the Peninsula -- not to be missed! The menu is diverse and the dishes well paired. The sides are prepared with the same attention to detail as the featured entree. Although the wine list is limited, there was just the bottle we needed: great wine and reasonably priced. Complete bar to support if wine is not your choice. The dessert menu is extensive with ports and cognacs and single-malts as well. The cuisine is sophisticated and vivid without being affected, the ingredients are of the highest quality, and the portions are almost sinfully generous. One gets the sense of a strong and rich culinary tradition at work. The wine list is also superlative, and the service is friendly and attentive. This restaurant is the perfect antidote to the snooty, overpriced and underportioned Continental restaurants of the Bay Area. We enjoyed every bit of our dinner and the dessert was great. Most people wouldn't know about this place since it is tucked into a small strip mall. Don't let this stop you from visiting the place. Will tell all are friend that come to Pacific Grove to play golf to have dinner here. Can't wait to come again.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGo Where the Locals GoI have been having dinners at Taste for over 20 years and have never had a bad dish. The service has always been wonderful. Forget all those tourist spots in Monterey or Pacific Grove. Though it's across the street from Safeway and near Trader Joe's on a busy street who cares it's where the locals go and all is good.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
