A word from Taste at the Palisades
Taste at the Palisades, sister restaurant to Taste on Melrose, now resided just off Sunset Blvd a stones throw from PCH. With its relaxed setting, homey yet sophisticated, the menu offers updated Californian comfort cuisine for eminently moderate prices. The menu, split equally between appetizers and entrees, includes seasonal finds like white truffle mac 'n' cheese, salads and pizzettas. The unusual but simple starter of grilled romaine lettuce topped with gorgonzola, applewood smoked bacon and Granny Smith apples is a must-try. Main-course highlights like Kobe beef burger and crispy parmesan chicken paillard atop garlic potato puree.

Taste at the Palisades offers everything that people are looking for in a neighborhood restaurant - namely good food and friendly service.

  • "Perfect place to stop for dinner to wait out PCH traffic before heading back to DTLA or Mid-City. Eaten at Taste on Melrose so hoped food would be good. First time to the Palisades location. Staff was great, nicely set up with ambient lighting, roomy tables and the food was great. The cumin-rubbed pork chop with their version of mac 'n cheese is a must, as well as the braised short-rib cheese sandwich. And please have it on white bread. I was going to go for whole wheat but our knowledgeable server recommended white and it made a big difference I'm sure. Fries always an outstanding number here too. Would definitely go back. Great food for good value, portions good as well. Palisades is lucky Taste put a location here."

  • "Mushroom pizza!! Grilled Romaine Salad!! Both our "must haves". This last visit - Grilled pork chop with unusual spicing, and their always terrific Mac and cheese with truffle oil."

  • "Menu is too challenging for the chef. Should stick to more traditional and be a little less creative. I had the filet mignon beef stroganoff. Mildly spicy but it covered all the flavors so all you tasted was the spice - disappointing. My husband had the seafood linguine which he liked. My wine wasn't great - local Malibu vintner. The decor is nice and the waiter was very attentive until it got busy. We would have ordered dessert and coffee but by the time he came back around we just asked for the check. Probably won't go back."

  • "We are long time customers of this restaurant and when a long-time manager left, things seemed to slip a bit. Tonight, it was great again. I had the shrimp and grits and it was great. It remains an excellent dinner spot with good food and service."

  • "My wife and I dined here for Valentine's Day, which also doubles as our wedding anniversary, and were delighted with the 4 course meal dinner menu that was prepared for the evening. The appetizers were delicious and well selected to match the entree choices, which were just as marvelous. We chose the wine pairing option to go with our dinner and finished off the evening with a chocolate fondue for two. We have never been here before, nor had we heard of it, but after our first experience we've agreed that we can't wait to go back."

  • "Taste is an ideal place to dine and conduct a business meeting. It was a 2-hour dining experience that was perfect in every way. The service and the food quality were excellent. My employees enjoyed this meeting with a wonderful cuisine. I highly recommend this restaurant for the food, wine and beer selections."

  • "Here's what I posted on TripAdvisor: "Went to Taste on Wednesday with a friend for lunch. Delicious tortilla soup (probably the best I've ever had), lettuce cups, and panna cotta. So good, I went back several days later with my husband for dinner. Food again was excellent, but, like Wednesday, the service left something to be desired. I ordered the tortilla soup again, because I liked it so much, but they forgot to put the tortilla strips in. Futhermore, I was not brought a spoon with the soup. The server said he would bring the spoon right away, but after waiting for so long that the soup was getting cold, I got up from the table to find someone who could bring me a spoon. "See the rest on TripAdvisor."

  • "I have been to this restaurant a few times when I NEED a burger and fries. This time, we went for dinner for a three-course and wine pairing. It was very nice, relaxed, delicious, and still low-key, just how I like it. We had a fabulous time and the food was incredible."

  • "We had a really nice time. We had the pork chop, always good.Sorry to hear that the Shortribs have been cancelled, they were always the other favourite. The Keylime pie is the choice for desert. Our waitress was perfect, she left us alone when we asked for more time to, to pace ourselves to enjoy our evening."

  • "Good food, but terrible ambience and surroundings (in a strip mall) and the service was not good. Assuming Taste overall is a good place to eat but not in this location."

  • "The service was not on. Started off Ok but then it became slow and frustrating. Not sure if they were short handed since it was Jan 1 or tired from the night before. Server became curt with us when we asked about our appetizers and remained distant the remainder of the evening. It took a long time to bus our plates. No coffee or dessert was offered. For those prices, one deserves better."

  • "Taste is a great neighborhood spot, with friendly staff and very good food. The hummus they serve with bread is outstanding. I love it. They do an excellent burger, great rock shrimp appetizer, good pasta dishes, good chicken dishes, an excellent shaved brussels sprouts salad, very good braised short ribs and the short ribs grilled cheese is rich and decadent."

  • "This used to be our favorite place... their chocolate parfait dessert was to die for. But a change of management meant changes all around. Food isn't quite as good, it feels as if they are "cheaping" out, and the chocolate parfait is gone. Oh well, we may have to look for another favorite place."

  • "I hate dining anywhere that is too loud or too trendy. This has a lovely atmosphere, good food, and is lively without being noisy. My friend and I have met there twice. It was a good midpoint between Brentwood and Malibu where she lives. I highly recommend the tortilla soup. They have a nice variety of small plates good for sharing, which I like a lot. I will definitely go back"

  • "I have had dinner at Taste at least 10 times and have always left having a great experience. The menu has great options and the service is consistently good."

  • "We had to pay $11 for a glass of wine...a bit unkind ( rather than the $7 a glass which was listed on the set meal menu). The seafood pasta was hot and tasty, but it had a skimpy amount of the "seafood", the chicken dish was small and had little appeal in the "little pot" presentation. I mentioned we were there for a birthday celebration so a nice touch would have been a "taste" of dessert with a candle. We chose the restaurant because it is in the neighborhood."
