A word from Tarry Lodge Westport
Mario Batali, Joseph Bastianich, Andy Nusser and Nancy Selzer, the team that brought you Tarry Lodge in Port Chester, NY is excited to announce the opening Tarry Lodge Enoteca Pizzeria, TL's casual little sister, in Saugatuck.
Tarry Lodge Enoteca Pizzeria features Andy Nusser's signature hand-made pastas, exquisite fritti, and succulent meats cooked to order on our wood fired grill. The menu will have a distinct focus on local ingredients and we are taking full advantage of Westport's bustling farmer's market.
The centerpiece of the room is a Mugnaini pizza oven hand crafted by the famed Refratarri Valoriani, a family of artisans making pizza ovens since 1890. This fantastic oven will be surrounded by a dining counter, where guests can watch pizzaiolo Mario La Posta craft his world class pies.

I really enjoy this restaurant and have never had a bad experience here. Service is always friendly and they don't rush you like you find in so many restaurants these days. Prices are fair, food is delicious, and it has never disappointed.

We were very disappointed, my first time; the others had been there, a lot on menu but portions so small and prices too high and would never go back when there are so many better places! went home hungry with what we ate!

It's said that in Mario Batali's restaurants no dish tastes quite like you expect it too - it's almost always better. Everything we ordered fit that rule. The chicken we ordered was simply the best tasting chicken dish we've ever had. Similarly, the Hen of the Woods mushrooms, black pasta and desserts all were spectacular as well.

Although the food was delicious and the atmosphere charming, service also played a huge role in my overall dining experience. My reservation was for 6 people (with a special mention that this was a birthday celebration). The first table, which was not ready, was in a cramped corner near the door. I quickly asked the hostess if we could have a table in the rear where there were plenty of available tables and it would be warmer. She accommodated me with a bit of an attitude. For the most part, the service was attentive but found that the waitress was a bit gruff at times. She was efficient but I sometimes felt we were a burden to her. Our special requests (lemon for our water, extra bread) were served promptly by the bus staff. The lunch special was a nice perk... generous salad servings and an varied assortment of main courses. Overall, I would return (this was my first trip to Westport but had already experienced TL in Port Chester).

A staple in Westport, perfect location next to train station and great menu. Whether you are in the mood for salad and pizza or pasta or entree everything has just a slight twist that makes it just a step above other Italian restaurants. Especially the pizza - love the Funghi Mista and Guanciale with egg are my favorites.

A little tight for a restaurant in the burbs but pleasant with great food. Pasta is fresh and melts in your mouth. The Oxtail Ragu is loaded with flavor. Made the mistake of asking for just a cookie with my coffee for desert. They offered a biscotti and charged me the full price of a desert. $9 for a small cookie! Guys....that ruined the entire experience.

Additional wines By The Glass would be much more practical & appreciated. Even Capital Grill sells wines in similar single carafes, with prices ranging $8 -$15 : as opposed to $15-$18. VERY annoying that one is almost forced to buy a bottle, & most are over $50 for Reds! The present operators seem to have forgotten that Tarry Lodge (NY) was always known in its day for delicious pizza and affordable wines. Tarry Lodge is a pizza place, serving fabulous pizzas, tasty pasta & spendy salads. Was very disappointed (especially at this time of year) that a Caprese Salad was not offered on the menu. I have never had such an annoying experience as far as the wine choices go - by bottle or small carafe. The food was excellent, as was our service.

We had a nice cozy table in the back as requested. The ambiance was loud, but that was expected for a Saturday night prime time. The wait staff was very attentive, taking drink and food orders right away, and bringing our food out promptly. The server made a nice wine recommendation to go with my meal. The food was very good. Not something I'd wait hours for, but definitely a nice meal for during the week.

We recently went to Tarry Lodge with a group of 6 for a 30th birthday celebration. The food was FAIR at best (definitely not worth the expensive prices), but even worse was the service. We were treated with zero respect, had to wait 30 minutes even though we had a reservation and waited over an hour between our appetizers and entrees. Never will go back.

This was our third visit, and the magic hasn't worn off. Two visits as a couple for special date nights, the third shared with foodie friends. The dining room is long and a bit narrow, with the bar and wood-fired pizza hearth anchoring the entrance, but we have twice sat in a nook at the end of the room for some privacy. Staff has been both plentiful and attentive, with a little NYC edge. The bar staff understands cocktails and there is a good wine selection. Food is creative but unpretentious, seems often to have a prix fixe offer with 4 courses. Best described as Italian but not industrial. Have not actually had the pizza yet. With drinks it is easy to spend $100 per party member.

the food and service were excellent but the price of a glass of house wine was outrageous ($18) and there was no flexibility with the menu. for two of the entrees I wanted a variation on the menu and the waiter indicated that that was not possible. so I ended up having to order my 3rd choice. not very customer friendly! I doubt I will return.

We were pleasantly surprised by our first experience at Tarry Lodge Westport. Everything we had was excellent. I had the tricolor salad with white bean dressing, and the pasta with bolognaise sauce. Both were absolutely delicious. My husband had a salad with a grain which I think was called furro, which was just delicious. The black linguini with Rock Shrimp was wonderful, as well. The atmosphere and service were both very good. We will definitely be going there again!

Food was great. I took a star off because the bread was not as fresh as it could have been. Everything else we had: 2 pizzas; pasta and a salad were perfect. Service on the other hand was awful...literally waited 5 mins at the door to be greeted by the hostess. then it took at least 10; probably more like 15....for the waiter to take our drink order. Yes it was a Sat night, but the place was by no means packed...in fact we noticed several empty tables.

We've been going to Tarry Lodge since it opened and have always enjoyed it. However, our most recent visit was by far and away the best meal that we have had there from start to finish. Both the chicken and bronzino have had a makeover and WOW!. The lemon ricotta cheese cake was awesome! We always love the hen of the woods salad app as well. Bravo! The bread is the only weak spot.

Heavenly food prepared with the freshest ingredients (we enjoyed the Hen of the Woods mushroom and arugula salad followed by spaghetti alla carbonara and pappardelle with duck ragout topped with micro basil). We love and keep coming back for the food but find the wine list limited and very focused on selections from Bastianich Winery. During prime dining hours the small space of the restaurant can feel tightly seated; however, for a more relaxed dining experience sit at the pizza counter or eat at the bar.

After all that we had heard about Tarry Lodge our experience was very disappointing. To start, three members of our party of four were served their main courses while the fourth had to wait an additional 15 minutes for theirs. Naturally no one wanted to start until everybody had been served, but finally gave in and at that point their food was no longer hot. Too make matters worse the waiter came to our table to inquire how everyone's dinner was, not aware that our fourth was still waiting for their dinner. He was completely clueless. Two of our party ordered Salmon and it was not cooked to the temperature requested. A night to forget.

Went for pre theater dinner. We were seated promptly, server knew we had show tix. We had cocktails, a tasty app each, entrees and we wereall done in an hour but we were never made to feel rushed-experienced server. Food was very good, inventive, and presented nicely. Duck breast was done perfectly. Pizza with Guanciale, fresh mozzarella, truffles was a real treat. The place is a keeper for me. The owners need to replace some of the hard, worn wooden chairs; more comfortable seats would be expected in a place of this caliber and price point

Tarry lodge used to be a lot better. The food had gone downhill. The salad was awful. Just frisse salad thrown on a plate with a few white beans. I had that salad in the past and it was much better. The prosciutto appetizer was just a pile of meat. There was no bread or cheese. The pizza was skimpy on the toppings and the waited never came back to clear dishes. Very dissapointed. Mario Batali should be ashamed.
