  • "Have nothing negative to say about this wonderful place. Food was excellent, staff was excellent and atmosphere was excellent. Highly recommend."

  • "We were in Richmond for a wedding & staying in the Omni downtown. I did a little research and ended up at dinner at Tarrant's Cafe. We were not disappointed. Shrimp & grits, fried chicken & waffles. Comfort food at its best at this quaint restaurant in a former 19th pharmacy. Extremely affordable & good bottles of wine in the range of $20 to $40. We had also fantastic attentive service."

  • "Well overall it was good enough for me to enjoy our dinner there. But would I go back? Probably not.. because they did not have anything special or outstanding about it. Their menu is overwhelming and has too many choices which I find it difficult and confusing. Overall the taste was good and yet greasy and salty. The next day, though, I felt bloated and heavy which made me think that they probably used a lot of butter and salt to make the taste good at that time but very unhealthy. If you like tasty quantity, not quality this would be good for you. I enjoyed it but I did not feel healthy eating it."

  • "This was our second visit to Tarrants and the food was as good as our first visit, but even though when making my reservation I noted it was my wifes birthday not a word was said I was a little surprised and disappointed."

  • "Went to Tarrant's for an anniversary dinner and really enjoyed it! We got there right at our reservation time and were promptly seated. Had a nice glass of wine while we looked at the extensive menu. Got the shrimp and grits appetizer and it was delicious. I am not usually a huge fan of grits but this dish was flavored and presented nicely. Had the Italian wedding soup as a starter and it was very good. I got the special blackened grouper served with pineapple salsa, risotto, and asparagus. Loved it!!! Husband got the Corvina special and it was good. He enjoyed it but would probably order something with a little more pop next time. No room for dessert. Service was excellent and quick. One of my favorite Richmond restaurants!"

  • "Tarrants is a hidden gem. Small but charming. Great variety of food options. Food was delicious and service great. Recommend for casual dining."

  • "The menu contained many interesting and unusual items. I enjoyed the fish Reuben but there were also many full entree items to choose from. The staff was very pleasant and efficient. Our waitress was quick and courteous. I believe Tarants is family friendly place but is also a good place for dinner for two, not formal but nice. We have eaten here many times and will continue to do so."

  • "I like Tarrant's for brunch because it's reliable and has an extensive menu to please all tastes. I also appreciate how accommodating they are about substitutions on the menu, e.g, more fruit instead of bread/potatoes. The salmon benedict was delicious. Another person in my party said the egg white omelet was delicious. Only "complaint" from one other person: the hash browns were cold in the middle."

  • "We enjoyed the food and atmosphere for a nice Sunday brunch! Service was very good also."

  • "Service was excellent. We were warmly greeted at the door and well taken care of by our server, including answering our many questions about the menu. The salads were excellent with their housemade dressings. She crab soup was a highlight. Mahi and snapper were sumptuous. Pizza was fine, but the other menu items are better."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed a very nice anniversary dinner at Tarrant's Cafe. The food was excellent and the service was superb! They have a good wine list and it is reasonably priced. We had a reservation on the early side and were the second or third party to be seated on a Friday evening, just before 6:00. When we left around 7:00, the place was packed, so I strongly suggest a reservation. Our experience was really good and we will be back."

  • "At the top of my list is Tarrant's Cafe. I have never been disappointed in the many times I have visited and introduced friends to this lovely Richmond restaurant. This week my daughter had the pleasure of meeting Tarrant's for the first time and is already planning her return with friends. Cannot say enough about your staff, atmosphere, menu and the delightful young gentlemen who park our cars. Thank you for always giving us an evening to remember."

  • "It was a lovely time with the eclectic and interesting decor. attentive stuff-and terrific food . Brought a wrap which was good because it was quite cold at our table. later found it was just a few tables that were that way. moved to the bar after dinner and it was very comfortable."

  • "The fish tacos were amazing and the free valet was awesome, including our valet guy. Most of the staff were friendly and attentive but some who looked miserable and wasn't smiling stuck out pretty bad. The pizza was ok but nothing that great or special. They had a kids menu that was reasonably priced and the portions were enough for an adult! Overall, I really dig this place."

  • "I asked our server whether the salmon on the menu was wild-caught or farm-raised. She did not know the answer, and did not offer to find out. When I asked her to, she went to ask and came back in a few minutes and said, 'the salmon is wild but everything else is farm-raised." What kind of answer is that? I was interested in the salmon and not everything else! I was also a bit taken aback at the small quantity of wine thatw as in the Pinot Noir that I had ordered. They also have a leaking roof/ceiling that needs to be fixed! Overall, we had a pleasant experience. I'd like to thank the person who offered us napkins to wipe ourselves when we came in; we were soaking wet from the rain."

  • "We have dined here quite a few times and it remains in the favorite column. It is pleasant, busy but not overwhelming to the wait staff. The menu is varied and meals nicely presented. It is not a foodie heaven, but that's one of the reasons we like it. We will go back."

  • "We had a group of eight for brunch and everyone's entrees came out together and perfectly cooked. An amazing feat considering there were 6 orders of different versions of Eggs Benedict. Perfect, perfect poached eggs and everything was hot!! Delicious! Service was top-knotch. Just go!!"

  • "My family wanted to take me out for a birthday dinner of my choice. I had to pick a restaurant which would please ages 8 through 84, so I chose TARRANTS. Our table was ready for us when we walked in. This is a big plus, when you have an eight year old boy in your party. Everyone was very pleased with the menu choices available. The service was outstanding, along with the food. From the filet mignon to the childrens chicken tenders, everyone enjoyed their dinner. It's our family tradition to share a dessert and I chose the berry cobbler with ice cream. It was a big hit with everyone. Tarrants made my family birthday dinner successful and memorable."

  • "I chose Tarrant's for dinner with an out of town business associate and we were not disappointed. We both were seafood fans, so we started out with Oysters for an appetizer. They were cooked perfectly and they were plentiful. We each ordered a different fish for our entrée. Mine was crusted and my guest's had an appealing sauce. We both enjoyed our fish and you may not have had to clean the plate. Our server was attentive and helpful with the menu. We liked her."

  • "I needed a place to take an out-of-town guest who was staying downtown. I checked out the menu online and decided to try it. We were greeted pleasantly at the door, shown immediately to a table, and the wait staff was right there at the table to ask us about drinks. Service was excellent. We both had the seafood omelette, which was fantastic. I was highly recommend this restaurant and plan to return. "

  • "Never had a bad experience at Tarrant's First time for dinner but like brunch and lunch before the meal was excellent. Server was great, gave good recommendations and was very helpful but not smothering."

  • "Every time I dine at Tarrant's, it's a treat. The food is very good, seasoned expertly and the portions just enough to satisfy any diner. We ate here last and this Mother's Day. Last year we breezed right in after church and were easily seated in a matter of minutes without benefit of a reservation. This year we did make a reservation and I was glad of it, upon seeing the overflow line at the entrance upon arrival. My only complaint was that one of the waitresses was wearing a really short bottom which revealed quite a lot when she made certain moves. I really hoped management address the issue as I observed other patrons taking note of it."

  • "This is the only time that I have been to Tarrants and have been disappointed. I love this restaurant. However, on Mothers Day is was crazy and the food wasn't up to standard. This is the second Mothers Day that we've had difficulties there. Every other visit on a regular day has been great. "
