  • "My sister, my daughter, my dad and I had lunch at TAPS. Service was great; however, the pulled pork sandwich had 2 pieces of fat which, I feel, should not have been there. I would just advise the person who is pulling the pork to make sure that the fat is discarded. Otherwise, we had a great lunch. The service was superb!! Our server was extremely attentive. The Creme Brulee was fantastic!!"

  • "We eat here about once a month, and while the experience can sometimes be hit and miss, this was an enjoyable evening. We had our favorite server, Lauren, who is simply wonderful. Remembers what we like and makes good recommendations. Some servers there are less attentive, however. The food was very good, they got us our check in a reasonable time (sometimes an issue), and I tried the prix fix menu for the first time and found it to be a really good deal."

Everyone there was supper nice, we got there early and had a drink at the bar, I had a house brew, the staff are very freindly and let us tast a few of there beers before we made a choice. For dinner I had the ribeye and my wife had the cheif special Halibut both were outstanding. We will be back!!"

We had the Calamari Provencale appetizer and it was outstanding. The 16 oz Maine Lobster tail is also incredibly tender. My husband had the Cioppino again. He still says it is the best he has had."

  • "If I lived in the local area I would eat here regularly. This is my favorite restaurant hands down. Food is fresh and very good. Consistently has the best staff and they know the menu. Keep in mind that if you order the meat loaf the pork belly makes it a bit on the salty side. Our server informed me of this prior to ordering, but I still wanted to try it. Regardless, the good food here is always top notch and I love their beer too."

  • "Food was good as always but this time the server dropped the ball. He took a long time to take our drinks then he took a long time to get them. Food was delivered in a good time after finally being able to order it. Food is always delicious here, so no complain in this area. He did not ask us for dessert but I had the special promo that came with desert??? I also told them it was my son's birthday when I made my reservation on open table. I had to ask him about it and he knew nothing and had to tell the waiter and spoil the surprise... SAD. We had to keep asking for our drinks and waited long time in between. Service was bad, food saved the day, hope no one has to experience this on a birthday, it's disappointing."

  • "While the food was really good, it was pricey. The portions are large, hence, perhaps the justification for the prices. However, if you go there, ask about the portions of the entrees before you indulge in lots of bread (which is very good with the garlic oil) or salad or soup before your entree. I could not finish even half my Jambalaya, and my husband could not finish his Cioppino. It was great for dinner the next night at home!"

  • "I've ate here before and it was fine, but for some reason I have mixed reviews about my recent visit. We opt for the dine in OC menu and ordered our appetizers: baked oyster trio and gumbo. My oysters came, but one was still raw and missing everything on it. I told the waiter and they brought it back and gave me the two to eat first and brought 2 more after to correct the issue. For our main entree: ciopinno and blackened fish of the day. I needed a spoon to eat with my meal and asked my waiter, he came back and placed a dirty spoon next to me and walked away... I didn't bother to say anything this time... Maybe I just came at a bad time??"

  • "I tried the OC restaurant week special which was $40 for a 3 course meal. Most of the restaurants were offering a 3 for $20.. Appetizer was nothin out of this world, main course well serve but small portion, desert was no extraordinary cuisine. NOT IMPRESS AT ALL i was better of ordering a la carte, so disappointed after my $100 bill that I won't go back. There are far more better restaurants with interesting atmospheres serving out of this world cuisine for half that price....."

  • "I was looking at a place to take my 85 year old mother to brunch for her birthday and came across a list that had Taps as one of the top 10 brunches. Everyone loved the brunch. My son enjoyed the option of having 2 beers instead of the champagne or mimosas, but my mother and I enjoyed the bottomless mimosas. Instead of an omelette bar or a tray of eggs, there is a menu of freshly made egg dishes, which were nicely done. Oyster lovers will love the freshly cracked oysters on a half shell. This brunch had everything anyone could want .. cold salads, seafood, deli meats, carving station, hot trays of food, and to top it off a dessert station, a chocolate fountain, and even freshly made bananas foster. The service is also excellent!"

  • "We were celebrating our friend's 50th birthday (he had come for a trip from England for just a few days) and sat in the nicer "restaurant" area (as opposed to the bar area or outside). The food (swordfish, white bass, and crab legs for mains and cheesecakes for dessert) was delicious. However, the best part of the experience was our waiter. His name was Marshall, and we have never met someone with so much enthusiasm for his job. He was very attentive and just one of the nicest people we've met and had as our waiter. He took our English humor in good stride and was just wonderful. We hope we get served on by him again (maybe we will ask for him by name, he was that good!)."

  • "This being our first time at this restaurant we really didn't know what to expect. We had 5:30 reservations and arrived about 10 minutes early. The hostess immediately sat us at a nice booth. The waiter was helpful with explaining menu items. Only draw back is he made everything sound delicious (good thing). My wife had the rib eye and I had the Chilean sea bass. It was everything and more than I expected. Taps gets a 10 out of 10 in my book."

  • "Perfect meal. Our server, Jackie, was excellent. My husband orders Ciopinno everywhere and he said this is the best yet. He ordered a side of scallops which were presented on the Ciopinno and were huge and unbelievably tender. I do not care for scallops as I find them bland but these were wonderful. I had the Bass which was perfectly cooked as was the asparagus. We will definitely return."

The wine list could use a few more moderately priced items though the upper level selection is excellent and there are reasonably priced wines as well. There is usually a bustle so not a quiet romantic spot but is fine dining and again the food is excellent. I like this place much better than it's sister The Catch."

  • "I had heard bad things about Taps from people who had previously been there. I now think its because they were not seafood fans because my food, and my dining companion's food were both fantastic! I ordered the Lobster Bisque to start. One of the better ones that I've had in a LONG time. Next came my macadamia encrusted white bass with garlic mashed potatoes. Fish was FRESH and the flavors of it all were so..... comforting? Seems to be the only word that I can really sum it up with. Made me all warm and fuzzy inside! :-) Last of my meal? Crème Brule. Yeah..... I got nothing' but HEAVENLY coming to mind! Service was great too! Anyone who's ever wanted to try it, SHOULD!"
