A word from Tapas Restaurant
"Tapas" Food for sharing …
In Spain & Portugal Tapas are considered a culture. Shared amongst friends in a relaxed and unhurried environment, to be combined with wine, lively conversation, tall tales and spirits!
Our Tapas Menu offers "Small Dishes" reflecting the modern fusion flavours of Portugal & Spain. Dishes are designed for two people to share, we suggest 2—3 dishes per person as a meal.

  • "we happened to discover Tapas wondering around in Canmore one night in winter of 2013; there has been no stopping since. We drive from calgary just to dine there! Food is amazing, must keep room for deserts!"

  • "We have been to a Tapas many times - and food and experience always superb. Seems to work best with 4 people- as great to share all the wonderful tastes- although we have also enjoyed as a couple, and larger group. This time we went as part of the Canmore Uncorked event - and really enjoyed the set menu. Wine menu is extensive. The restaurant is small - so tables fairly close, and because food so good, restaurant always full. But noise level moderate, not a concern. Wait staff very good - and will help out if people not familiar with Tapas style dining. A real gem for Canmore."

  • "Atmosphere was lively but not too noisy and our sever was very attentive (not too much), we shared around 6 dishes - all were very tasty - and finished with chocolate pot - wow - the caramel side was infused with rosemary- that ended up being my favorite dish - will go back to try another half dozen dishes as everything on the menu looked great."

  • "I came here with my girlfriend for out anniversary and was not disappointed. As most fine dining is, this place was very expensive, but with that being said, it was worth every penny. All of the food we ordered was exquisite. Every dish we ordered was perfectly plated and perfectly cooked. Whoever the saucier is, is a mastermind. We were both utterly flabbergasted by all of the sauces. The service was great as well. I would definitely dine here again on a special occasion."

  • "Dined with a group of 6 work colleagues and it was a terrific experience. Even with many palates to please, everyone was able to find dishes to enjoy. Favorites were: mussels in cabrales blue cheese sauce (get extra bread so you can dip!), lamb lollipops and lamb stew, gambas with garlic, stuffed squid, and the brie and pear stuffed portabella mushroom. The music was great and not too loud, so we could chat and hear each other. The team service was excellent. Dinner was a nice slow pace, so we didn't feel rushed. Small restaurant but nice ambiance. Lastly if you have a sweet tooth, all 4 of us that ordered the pot de chocolate loved it - we might have licked the bowls, had we not been in public!"

  • "Got there early. Got seated. Told 5 items were not available (non of which were seafood). Waiter left and never came back. We waited 20 min, then got up and got our coats from behind a desk and never once acknowledged. awful. Will never go back."

  • "Our first time there, we had a wonderful evening at Tapas - beautiful & romantic, warm & inviting. Food was an awesome experience with lots of interesting choices. The service was impeccable. Andrew Ibanez was playing Latin music in the background - a very talented man! We thoroughly enjoyed his music & would definitely come back just to hear him again."

  • "If you can't get to Spain, try Tapas for the next best thing. We love the order as you go and surprisingly, it is not costlier than the standard appie, entree, dessert NA fare. We LOVED the Basque lamb stew and the stuffed portobello mushrooms. The prawns were great too as was the pots de chocolat dessert. Lovely Tempranillo went well with everything. James and Chey provided attentive service. GO TO TAPAS TO EAT AND ENJOY!"

  • "This is a great place for dinner for two or with a group, attention to detail in all aspects and a knowledgeable staff. Food was the focal point, among the best in town. Try the lamb and you won't be disappointed with the cold plates. It a place for sharing and tasting. Menu does change and wine list is deep. Getting a reservation is the hardest part."

  • "After a google search of nearby restaurants, we booked a dinner for two on a weekend away in the mountains. We were looking forward to the food after reading the Open Table reviews and it did not dissapoint. The atmosphere was cosy, the two servers were attentive, knowledgable and were always there to top up our drinks and clear away empty plates. Now the food, that was phenomenal! They had advised that for two people you normally order 5-6 plates, but the serving sizes were so generous, after our 5th plate, we were almost dissapointed that we were stuffed, as there was so much more on the menu we wanted to try! As if the excellent service and amazing food wasn't enough, the bill was very reasonable! We will definitely be going again!"

  • "Recently had my girlfriends 50 th bday dinner at tapas. Considering her go to name is "foodie" I was nervous. Everything was unique. Tastefully laid out and the food was to die for. Great spot for outside the boring day to day supper out. Tapas steak. Caesar salad. Chilean shrimp. All delicious. End your meal with a dessert wine and you will have an evening to remember."

  • "Where else can you dine for several hours? Eating here is a true event - we have been coming back here for almost 8 years and things have only managed to improve over time. Wine recommendations are phenomenal and the servers are truly passionate about making sure you get a great fit (we tried the Gamay from Desert Hills - it was a wonderful pairing!) and the tapas are delicious. The carpaccio here is my favorite - we ordered it twice in the same meal because we loved it so much - as is the dessert (I had mascarpone cheesecake and my husband had a chocolate dessert - both were great). I literally think I could spend a solid 8 hours here eating and drinking wine. It's that good."

  • "Were a group of six ladies and were seated in the front vestibule - initially we were concerned. The door was open often and it wasn't cold and we met a lot of wonderful people coming and going. We started with (several) pitchers of sangria - loved the mint and began to share the tapas - we ordered two of the portabello mushroom & goat cheese - it was so wonderful we ordered a third! We continued to order a variety of tapas-chili and garlic gambas, broccoli, lamb stew, phyllo, etc. Everything was so good - we couldn't choose what was the best! We shared three desserts and with all this (as I mentioned several pitchers of sangria, it came to $80 each (including a very nice tip). We were very impressed and would highly recommend Tapas!"

  • "We recently had our first dining experience at Tapas in Canmore, and we both left feeling completely satisfied. From the warm welcoming upon arrival right through to desert , the service was excellent. The service was only eclipsed by the food. The waiter had recommended 2 to 3 dishes each, but we could order them throughout the meal . As each dish came, we were amazed. We started with the scallops, followed by shrimp, phyllo pastries ,tostadas ,beef, and broccoli ,and they were all delicious. For desert we shared Creme brûlée , and cheesecake , both wonderful. We are already planning a return trip in order to try the rest of the menu items that we didn't try the first time!! We would highly recommend this restaurant to others ."

  • "I just had my fourth dining experience at Tapas. And sorry to say but it was not the best. First, I understand the lack of space but that table for six next to the door on a cold winter evening really put a damper on our experience. Which I'm sure was obvious. When I spend over $200 on a meal, I should at the very least be comfortable. Secondly, our waiter was a bit of a snob. Actually, not a bit, he was a snob. Not sure if he was having a bad night or not, but I'm a very down to earth woman and he made me feel like I didn't belong."

  • "I had tried to get a reservation for Valentine's Day but it was booked up. I opted for the next night. While Tapas was very booked, it was a very relaxed and leisurely atmosphere. The service was excellent with good advice about food choices. Tapas is a small and intimate restaurant. Having said that, there were adult families in attendance. I wouldn't recommend it for very young children. the experience we had was excellent - food, service, and ambiance."

  • "Other than getting a 9:15 pm reservation, the food was great. They did phone us however, and we got in a bit early. It was very crowded in the restaurant, easy to hear every conversation going on around us."

  • "My experience there was great. good food, great ambiance, great service. But it was a bit Pricey for what you got to eat. Food ordering wasnt what i expected. you dont order for your self you order for everyone. You have to order each side individually. Great place for people who have lots of money. Probably wont ever go back."

  • "I have lived in the Banff area for 10 years with the opportunity to dine at just about every restaurant at least once. Tapas was by far one of the best places that I have been to in a very long time. The food was outstanding, the service was friendly and quick, and the ambiance was very nice and cozy as well. I would recommend Tapas to anyone who is looking for a special night out."

  • "Having tried several Tapas restaurants in Vancouver, on a recent trip to Canmore we thought we would give Tapas Restaurant a try to compare. Although we found the menu to be a little bit smaller than we are used to, we found several dishes that were very enjoyable. We started with a single portion of the cured meats, the apple-fig chutney was excellent. We then enjoyed the Chili Gambas, Chicken Agrodolce and the Lamb Lollipops. All of these were delicious and had a different spin than many other Tapas restaurants we have tried. My only criticism is that the portions were a bit smaller than Vancouver Tapas restaurants, but the quality and taste couldn't be beat. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Canmore!"
