Tantric Indian BistroAwesome Indian FoodI happen to love Indian food and was thrilled to find this location so close to the Wilbur Theater. Me and two girlfriends enjoyed a bottle of wine and 3 amazing entrees. The restaurant offered some unusual flavors of naan and those were really delicious as well. Great food, great location, great service!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBlown awayI must say, the Gobi Manchurian MIGHT just be the greatest dish I have ever had, in my entire life. I know that sounds overly dramatic, but I cannot express to you the truly overwhelming taste sensation that was their Gobi Manchurian appetizer. After my first bite I said as much to my dinner companion, and she was like, "come on, you're exaggerating..." Then she tasted it then took a moment and said...."Wow, you might be right" I can't remember the last time at any restaurant that I ordered a second plate of an appetizer.
Other than that everything else was pitch perfect, attentive, friendly, calm service, and a truly beautiful restaurant to boot in the heart of the theater district. CHECK IT OUT, especially if you're vegetarian.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were pleased with the serviceWe were pleased with the service and the amount of meat in the entrees. many indian restaurants skimp on the meat/chicken/fish in the entrees, doctoring them up with additional sauce. It is on a higher end price point for ethnic food but the quality is great.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Indian in the Theater districtWe have been here numerous times and have always been pleased (once we convinced them that we liked actually spicy food). The previous time we were there though was a bad experience (bad drink which had the wrong ingredients; food that was not very spicy or even well seasoned for flavor; and a friend we were meeting could not get a waiter to even take a drink order until I arrived 20 minutes later). So that is what we were thinking when we were asked to join a few friends for lunch (they choose the place, we resisted and lost).
So, how was this experience? It was good. The drink was good (Tamarind Margarita) if a little too sweet, but it tasted proper. The food was good, even of the proper spice level (HOT!) that we asked for. But servi4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAte before seeing a show -Ate before seeing a show - great seats to watch the people passing by. Food was very good and drink list was inventive and different.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGood, reasonably priced IndianGood, reasonably priced Indian food in the heart of the Theater District. My wife and I have been here several times and never been disappointed. The menu is comprehensive and includes quite a few items not typically found on Indian restaurant menus in the Boston area, including lauki (bottle gourd) kofta, as well as the usual standards (including plenty of vegetarian choices). The prices do reflect a "theater district markup", but it's not nearly as onerous as other restaurants in the area. I found the clubby/New Age decor a bit off-putting, but this is clearly the "look" the owners are going for. A real gem amid the overpriced tourist traps in the area.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMTantrastic Aroma, Great FoodOur party of three enjoyed Tantric prior to seeing Gary Gulman (who happened to be having dinner next to us)at the Wilbur Theater. I only wish we had more people in our party so we could have tried more dishes. The aroma of Tantric is Tantrastic. I only wish our server would have spent less time on the phone and more time visiting our table as we wanted to order more nan; but ran out of time.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our overall experienceWe enjoyed our overall experience at Tantric. Its a perfect spot to go to for Indian food in the Theatre district. The menu was moderately price and quite varied and the service was attentive...not too fast, not too slow. The restaurant was full on Saturday night and there was a buzz but not so deafening that you couldn't conduct a conversation.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI have eaten in a few IndianI have eaten in a few Indian restaurants over the years, perhaps four. I would rate this among the tops I've experienced. However, there was a larger group at the table next to us, and they were very noisy. In addition, I booked a table for two people at 7:30 pm, and the restaurant recorded it as three people at 8 pm. It did not cause a problem in getting my table, but, I don't understand why they were so misinformed, especially since the reservation was through Open Table.
In summary, though, I would definitely return and highly recommend.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and awesome ambienceFirst time at an Indian restaurant and it was great!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA Good Selection of Indian FoodWe have been to this restaurant twice. Once we brought a friend and she really enjoyed it as well. There is a homey feeling being there. The menu offers a large selection of choices. If you are unsure about how spicy you want your food you may wish to consider mild. We enjoyed visiting this one. We cannot comment on the wine menu.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is my 2nd reservationThis is my 2nd reservation @Tantric, the food and service were all wonderful. I highly recommend the tandori chicken... simply delicious. I took off one star cause the drinks we got from the bar were not muddled.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI always like Tantric...foodI always like Tantric...food is very good and waiters are accomodating and this time I thought the pinot noir was very good! for $9. My only complaint is the Masala Chai was overboiled and had a skim surface and didn't taste good. I didn't have time to get another but other than that which has only happened once, I like the restaurant and its our go to place before plays.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFor some things on the extensiveFor some things on the extensive menu, this is the best Indian restaurant in Boston: tandoori chicken is superb, perfectly prepared. The chicken chettinad has the perfect combination of spiciness and a citrusy fruitiness that isn't too sweet. The naan is perfect, too--light and tasty and fresh. Attentive service, even when it's crowded. And if you're going to the theater, they make sure you're out in time.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh ingredients set thisFresh ingredients set this Indian place apart. Attentive, friendly service. Worth a return trip!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA great dining experience! We really enjoyed coming here before our ballet show. The service was quick and friendly, the food delicious and not too pricy, and the ambiance nice and pleasant. We'll definitely come here again next time we're in the Theater District for a show!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMIndian food before the theaterOne of the best Indian restaurants in the Boston area, and particularly convenient to the theater district. Always go there when seeing an event in the area.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
