We provide service that is casual yet knowledgeable, genuine and attentive, utilizing locally sourced products and vendors that are sensitive to sustainable farming and fishing.

Tanta has two Chef’s Tables that each seat up to 10 people. These tables are located in our main dining room in between our open kitchen and ceviche bar which allows you and your guests to experience our chefs creating Peruvian cuisine while you dine.

The menu, created by Acurio and Tanta Chicago Chef Jesus Delgado, takes diners on a voyage through Peru via its food. From the Pacific Ocean, through the Andes, to the desert, to the Amazon, Tanta celebrates the diverse landscape and ethnicities that make up Peru’s culture.

Diner Reviews
  • "Difficult to talk and hard to hear - pretty noisy surrounding"
    Dined on 8/15/2014
  • "We came here to celebrate our anniversary and got the street sampler appetizer and an entree. The portions were huge and we could not finish our delicious dinner. The server explained the food perfectly because otherwise we could not understand half the menu."
    Dined on 8/15/2014
  • "Definitely a hidden gem. The rooftop is the perfect place to sip on cocktails and order some empanadas. Every drink and dish we had was delicious."
    Dined on 8/13/2014
  • "I brought a group of 13 people from work to Tanta to introduce them to Peruvian food. As a Peruvian, I was tasked with ordering appetizers, mains and cocktails for everyone. We ordered many, many dishes to share and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal....the causas, tiraditos, lomo saltado, jalea and lamb were certainly the highlights of our meal but absolutely everything was executed to perfection utilizing fresh , authentic ingredients that resulted in flavours that were as good as any of the Gaston restaurants in Lima. Good job! Peruvian food has now 13 new fans."

  • "I have eaten at a lot of Chicago restaurants and paid $$$$. Many are great, but Tanta is in a class all their own. Excellent food and service in a FUN atmosphere."

  • "I was excited to go to Tanta, because I heard so much buzz about this restaurant. I was a bit disappointed with the food - it was tasty, but not exceptional. A good restaurant to try, but probably will not go back. A nice touch was that our server brought a complimentary dessert for my friend's birthday."
    Dined on 8/11/2014
  • "The service was great, we went with our 2 kids (1 and 3) and the staff was really great with them. The food was excellent. We order just the small plates that are like appetizers, the tiraditos, anticuchos, niguris, everything was really good."
    Dined on 8/10/2014
  • "We love dinner here, but brunch is a must try! If you want something a little different, the flavors here are fantastic!"
    Dined on 8/10/2014

  • "One of my favorites restaurants in Chicago. Every single dish is prepared with perfection."
    Dined on 8/3/2014
  • " Fresh food, good wine, great flavors and knowledgeable service. What else could you ask for? We would definitely return."
    Dined on 8/3/2014
  • "One of the hot new restaurants in Chicago by a world recognized chef, Tanta was a dusappointment for us. It is very noisy in a plainly decorated storefront. The foods are just too sophisticated for our tastes and we travel extensively and eat in a wide variety of restaurants. We also thought the prices were exceptionally high. The restaurant caters to a 30's crowd. Worth trying once, but we won't be going back."
    Dined on 8/3/2014
  • "Been here before as well and it never fails to impress. We tried different items on the list and were still talking about how great the food was the following day!"
    Dined on 8/2/2014
  • "It is not for anything that Peru is know to be one on the countries with the best food. This restaurant can become the Fronterra GRill of Peru. I will recommend and ceviche. Appetizer were all incredible."
    Dined on 8/2/2014
  • "Good menu - we wanted to try much more than we could possibly eat in one dinner - eclectic menu; great drinks that weren't ridiculously over-priced. Only drawback is that it was very, very loud. Not a place to have conversation -- it's an original concept and menu--we appreciated the artisan approach and variety."

  • "i was excited to try Tanta. We had a seat at the upstairs bar before dinner, which was lovely. We waited perhaps 15 minutes for our table to be ready. The dining room was extremely loud, almost so that I had to shout to her my dinner partner. The server was excellent, making great suggestions for us. The food was very good, my first time with peruvian. Would return to upstairs bar, but too loud in the dining room for me."

  • "The service was great and the food was amazing! Everything our server recommended was delicious. The cocktail are great and prices for bottles of wine were reasonable. Great spot!"

  • "one of the hottest and best restaurants in chicago. eating tapas style is my favorite. the food is ecclectic and well prepared. the beef cheeks were exceptional. try a little from each category and you wont be disappointed!"

  • "Gal pal noshing: we had cerviche, chef's "sampler" of 8 types of bites -- beautiful and great flavor combos -- and another octopus appetizer. Then shared dessert. Cocktails: lavender gin + champagne - wonderful."
    Dined on 7/30/2014
  • "This was an amazing diner. Every bite was a new taste with the perfect blend of texture and flavor. I took 2 very discerning diners for out-of-town and they were both wowed! "Oh my god, this is amazing!," "Wait 'til ya taste this one!" took up half the conversation."

  • "Dined at tanta with friend who lives in Peru and she was struck by authenticity, freshness and creativity. Room was electric, presentations incredible and fresh fish to die for. Would attend many times again. Drinks were incredible and delicious. The only complaint I might have was that the waitress was a little rushing in the beginning. We hadn't even looked at the menu and she asked us if we wanted to order. She was very nice but her timing was a little off. Not enough however to damper our evening. Great experience."
    Dined on 7/28/2014
  • "I am from Peru and I am always excited to try Peruvian cuisine in the States, however I usually leave feeling a bit disappointed BUT this was not the case at all with Tanta. This is by far the best Peruvian food I've had outside of Peru. Everything we had was delicious and authentic. I highly recommend the Chaufa- Peruvian Chinese food and the Pisco Punch! The ceviche tasting is also fantastic. You will not be disappointed."

  • "Enjoyed brunch on the outdoor rooftop and it was a very lively atmosphere and felt like we were on vacation. great music, good food and great drinks. Perfect spot for just a cocktail as well. Dinner is only served in the restaurant which is loud. They have a smaller menu and cocktails for the rooftop."
