Energetic does not really describe the noise level. We had to forego the dessert in the interest of preserving our hearing. It's a shame because the food was great.....but, in the end, not great enough for us to return for another onslaught to our hearing!!

Tables here are a bit close together and you can easily overhear your neighbors and if you've got a big booty like me, you may find it awkward to squeeze into and out of the seating. But, once you're all set, you can enjoy a great meal with creative small plates and attentive service. Highlights: pulpo, scallop nigiri, beef empanadas, razor clam special with purple potatoes, and seafood fried rice. Desserts looked amazing but we were too full after all our small plates. Be sure to start the night with one of their tasty cocktails. I went for a classic pisco sour but they have a lot more interesting drinks if you want something a little different. They have booths that fit small groups but I wouldn't suggest more than 4-5 people.

We had a dinner at Tanta and the food was amazing. The each of the cervice trio was the best we've had anywhere. Large pieces of delectable fish. The beef cheek melts in your mouth! Plan tame chips were addictive and the seeping sauce was perfect. Great service.

Food and service were very good, but the noise level is a little high. Seems most of the patrons were there for a nice meal for a small party, 2-4 tops, but the noise level is more like a bar. Our waiter did an excellent job explaining some of the dishes and guiding a few of our choices.

I decided to dine at Tanta for a birthday dinner after reading glowing reviews about it. I have worked in the service industry for many years and consider myself a "foodie" and this was the first time in a very long time that I was impressed with EVERYTHING that we ordered. The flavors, textures, and careful preparations have me yearning for another visit so I can try the rest of the menu!!

This place is a mix between Peruvian food and Asian food. Drinks are really good and creative. You must try the "Chingon" the mezcal mixed with the spicy/hot ice makes the drink really good, especially at the end when the ice melted. Food is also great, you must try the "Leche de Tigre" it is really good and different. Service was excellent our server answered all our questions and she was very patience.

This place is so great - the ambience/decor was fun, our server was very nice and knowledgable, service was great, the menu has so many options to pick from and everything we tried was amazing! I will definitely go back. Be sure to make reservations as we did. We were there at 6 pm but not long after it started filling up and became fully crowded with a full bar area full of people waiting (this was a week night).

I went here with my boyfriend for an anniversary dinner, and Tanta did not disappoint! We were a little early for our reservation, so we had drinks at the bar before eating (I highly recommend the pisco punch, which comes in a fun tiki glass). Although there were entree options on the menu, we opted for small plates (tapas style) and ordered four plates between the two of us. The plates are pretty small (only 2-3 bites each!), but everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and filled us up. Our waiter was very friendly and gave us great tips on what to order (which was helpful for my first Peruvian dining experience!). Would definitely come back for a special occasion or a girls' night!

Tanta has a unique cuisine with delicious food but the very loud music and background noise was more suited for a bar than for a fine dining establishment. I understand the "fun" aspect of the restaurant but the noise level required the type of yelling at your dining partner that would result in the loss of your voice over time. The meal was also quite rushed in pace by our server and we had cocktails, an appetizer and entrees in a little over an hour. The cocktails and food were delicious, they need to slow down the pace and quiet the space a bit before I would want to return.

Was in Chicago for business and picked this gem from River North options reviewed in Chicago Monthly. I'll go straight to the pork belly. It was simultaneously the leanest but most tender and flavorful belly I've ever had We also had 3 different seafood appetizers which were fantastic. The combination of Asian and Latin flavors in this Peruvian cuisine was something new for me, and quite a treat!

As I read editorials and reviews about how great this restaurant is, I was excited to make my round to Tanta! Then was highly disappointed! Food was good don't get me wrong with great presentation you'd expect for the price and drinks were also...but just good...after spending $300 for 3 people, it should at best be great. Extremely rude service didn't help. I should not be bothered to have to complain to manager of serving experience. Restaurant it's self had cool styling and ambience was enjoyable, expect loud but not over bearing. Many other Peruvian restaurants that I'd rate excellent over Tanta. Unfortunately because of such rude, entitled service I will not be back not recommend to friends.

Food and service was excellent. We shared the octopus, beef heart skewers & sushi with seared steak topped with a quail egg. We also ordered the whole chicken and was told it would be a 45 minute wait as they didn't cook enough. My husband didn't want to order anything else so we waited and it was worth it. Very tasty. They gave us free dessert & took the chicken off the check. That was exceptional service!

The whole fried fish. Tiraditos: amazing, favorite dish. We had the first tiraditos listed on the menu, cremosa clasico and it was sooo good. Pescado frito: not so great. The fish was doused in nikei sauce, which was basically Sweet & Sour sauce. Too much sweet sauce to even enjoy. Chaufa aeropeurto: best pork fried rice I've ever had. Savory. Delicious. Pobre & pastel de chocio (corn cake) were really good & Pisco Sour was the best. The food was amazing, and we can't wait to go back, just won't be ordering the sweet & sour fish.

Peruvian food is not normally known for being ultra tastey, however, the chef here has managed to stay true to Peru and makes each dish full of flavor and texture. I enjoyed every bite but was able to reminisce about my trip to Peru. Overall, love this place, and loved the food. All I can say is that it was a bit loud in there so it was difficult to talk.

Great peruvian food with asian influence and sexy, tasty drinks. We loved this place and can't wait to be back. Service was very slow at first, quite disappointing, but our server really turned it around once we mentioned this and she more than made up for it (rushed the food, was very attentive, helpful with menu, etc.). Wow...our food and overall dinner experience were absolutely amazing. Everything that we tried tasted extremely fresh and well prepared. We've actually eaten Peruvian Japanese food before but the many menu options required explanation and recommendations and our waiter was excellent. He was knowledgeable, patient with us and his recommendations were outstanding both in terms of flavors and amounts of food. It's a fun (a little bit loud) atmosphere that seemed to draw a blend of couples and groups. This restaurant is a new favorite and we can't wait to return!

The waiter explained the menu and answered our questions and his advice was good as to what to choose. Our drinks were amazing! I think the "el chigon" made with tequila, a very smokey mezcal and other Ingredients with a round coral colored, chili infused ice ball was the best mixed drink I ever had!
