Did not live up to all the hype. The food was very inconsistent, some very good and other inedible it was so over-seasoned. Fun and creative bar drinks. It's a nice introduction to Peruvian cuisine (traditional ceviche was good; Causa was not) but would not go back and would not recommend it to anyone who knows and loves Peruvian food.

What a find! The best meal I've had in a very long time. The menu takes some time to understand but each wait person has only 4 tables to help o explain things to new diners. Take his / her recommendations. Wonderful sharing menu; such a complex mix of flavors and spices. Great cocktails to complement the food. Will go again soon with other friends. Highly recommend.

Wow...our food and overall dinner experience were absolutely amazing. Everything that we tried tasted extremely fresh and well prepared. We've actually eaten Peruvian Japanese food before but the many menu options required explanation and recommendations and our waiter was excellent. He was knowledgeable, patient with us and his recommendations were outstanding both in terms of flavors and amounts of food. It's a fun (a little bit loud) atmosphere that seemed to draw a blend of couples and groups. This restaurant is a new favorite and we can't wait to return!

Tanta was recommended to us by a close friend who said it was where we needed to go! She was right on. The food was delicious, every bite was a treat in the month. Our waiter was really special, he was attentive but not hovering. His recommendations were excellent. From appetizers to dessert we enjoyed everything!

We were so impressed by our dining experience at Tanta! The food was creative in combining Peruvian and Asian flavors and everything we ate was truly delicious. Service was exemplary. The waiter explained the menu and answered our questions and his advice was good as to what to choose. Our drinks were amazing! I think the "el chigon" made with tequila, a very smokey mezcal and other Ingredients with a round coral colored, chili infused ice ball was the best mixed drink I ever had! Even on a weeknight the restaurant was full and very noisy, but a delightful experience!

This place was perfection. It was 7th anniversary and 34th birthday on the night we attended. I was recommended to visit Tanta by a friend and it overwhelmingly exceeded my expectations. There is something for eat for everyone here. My wife is allergy to shellfish and I only eat seafood. The dishes were tremendous and full of flavor. If you don't eat here you're doing yourself a disservice.

I had heard a bit about the food from others and wanted to experience it myself. The restaurant was lively and energetic but no so loud you couldn't hear the rest of your party. The drinks, appetizers, ceviche, and starting plates were great. I would definitely go back again for those. The main dishes fell flat and were on the more expensive side. Definitely worth the trip but will be doing small plates and drinks next time.

Tanta’s food was delicious and the experience again unique - I've already dined here twice. Given that I've also dined at Lima-Peru's famous "Astrid & Gaston" and also at the more casual "La Mar Cebicheria Peruana" and also Mexico City's Astrid & Gaston & La Mar, all owned precisely by Gastón Acurio, the respected master chef behind Tanta, it is no wonder that this Chicago restaurant serves THE BEST Peruvian 'cebiche' and 'tiradito' I've had outside Peru. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere great, the service fast & friendly, but honestly, this place is very loud – makes me even wonder if they could somehow improve the acoustics... even so, I still love it and will be back! Ohhh, I bet you can't have only one of Tanta's banana chips...

If you think you're a foodie, you're not unless you have eaten here. If you've never tried Peruvian cuisine before, please understand one thing -- it's the best food on the planet. I have eaten in restaurants all over the world, and the two best meals I've had in my life were in Paris and Lima (Peru). In fact, there's a Parisian and Japanese influence, so if you like Tapas with a French/Japanese twist then this is perfect for you. Plus, this restaurant is just so versatile, I could see popping in for a couple of small plates and a cocktail at the bar, or sitting down with a group for a family style feast. I went on a date and it was lovely. Be warned - the food is an aphrodisiac, so make sure you like the person you take here.

Took the family for my son's Birthday. The server was very helpful finding my 80+ year old/spice sensitive mother in law, and seafood phobic wife acceptable menu selections. Can make a tapas style dinner from small plates and be wholly satisfied. Main dishes were generous, well spiced and artistic in presentation. If you like a more casual atmosphere with great food this is the place for you.

Would like to see some more of the traditional peruvian foods served such as tamales, papa rellena, aji de gallina and papa seca. Really love that they serve causa which not every peruvian restaurant serves.

Our party of 4 sampled quite a few items off all parts of the menu: ceviche, beef heart skewers, octopus appetizer, several seafood and meat entrees, and a couple of deserts. All the food was well prepared, interesting and tasty. The mahi ceviche and octopus were especially good. The ice cream was quite authentic. Waitstaff was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the city.

Presentation was the best part of the meal. Chalana offered a generous amount of each causita to taste, but each one was so salty we couldn't finish the dish. Seco marino a fantastic dish with many complementing colors and flavors, but once again too salty, which gets overwhelming after several bites of everything on the table.

I had no idea what to expect from Peruvian food, but decided I might have Peruvian blood in me. Seafood and potatoes are my 2 favorite things and they combine them in some very different and delicious ways. Must haves are the mashed potato/crab small plate and the octopus/potato skewer.
