Diner Reviews
  • "This place is such a gem... my husband and I love the fact we can eat at such an eclectic place so close to home. On Friday I had the sea bass with clam broth and linguine, my husband had the duck with Peruvian potato pancake. Both were delish!! We had excellent service, manager prescence was prominent and friendly, and the wine list (especially wines by the glass) was impressive. We will be back!"

  • "It would be hard for me to find anything negative to say about Tano's - maybe why did it take so long to discover??? The appetizers are outstanding (we ordered two), the entres are fantastic, and the deserts are wonderful (we ordered two). Both times I have enjoyed the Zin and hope to try other reds. I could not help but notice that of the multiple dinner items on the menu, three were seafood, and the two specials were seafood. So nice to have alternatives to beef. Other than the outstanding food, our waitress was so helpful in making recommendations. We will be back and now have a place to take out of town guests."

  • "Tano was more than we expected in that the ambiance of the restaurant was charming and the noise level was moderate even though it was full. The food presentation was outstanding and the taste of the food was wonderful. We enjoyed the flatbread, a southwest corn soup and and their paella. The bread that they serve is made there and is some of the best bread we have ever eaten. This restaurant deserves to do very well. We will certainly come back."

  • "What a disappointment. We had an early dinner (5:30) and we were rushed the entire time. We look for at least 1 of 3 areas to be very good - service, atmosphere or food. All were very mediocre. The waitress practically shouted at us (and her other tables) when talking, she rushed us during the meal (entree arrived while in midst of salads, cleared dishes while still eating etc.), the restaurant was noisy and the food was highly inconsistent. I had the walleye special and the fish had no flavor (hard to believe), although the accompanying vegetables were quite good. My salad was soggy (too much dressing). My husband's entree was ok - not great, although his salad was excellent. In total, not a repeat."

  • "Definitely make reservations because the restaurant does not seat a lot of people. The food was delicious, service was good and had a great Girls Night Out."

  • "I have to go to Tano. We go early to enjoy happy hour in the bar then have reservation at 5:30 to enjoy the 3 course meal called "taste of Tano". With our open table reservations we always get a table near the front but with Kory he placed us in the back near the kitchen. I asked if we get a table up in front he said someone request it already. All two tables? U make a reservation on open table u get one of the front tables but not with kory. He wasn't friendly either it was as if he couldn't be bother with us. ."

  • "This was our first time to this restaurant. I had the Brie salad, it was very good. I thought the dressing could've had more flavor but I still liked it though. They really like to use blue cheese on a lot of things and I'm not a fan of blue cheese so it narrowed my choices. I went w/ the Beef Short Ribs. It said it had blue cheese in it but they were able to make it without it. Then for dessert I had the popcorn pot de creme. O.M.G. was that amazing. It is a popcorn flavored custard w/ caramel sauce and then real popcorn on top. The salt and crunch of the popcorn really mixed well with the custard and the caramel. Oh, and they had a Moscato & pineapple wine that was just delicious. I will definitely be back."

  • "Our last visit was about 8 months ago, and we had a consistent dining experience. Tucked into a row of small shops near the Bike Trail, Tano is a good place to enjoy a local night out. The crowd mix ranged from teens on their way to a spring formal to some new parents, to a few seasoned couples. The noise level can be an issue, since the seating space is small. The food is good, but not such that I would waitva prolonged time for a table. Definitely RSVP."

  • "Service was sluggish. Ran out of the special I ordered - so that was disappointing. Mussels app was very blah/bland and several mussels weren't completely done. Good house wine and duck spring roll. Too pricey for the fish entrée that I ended up with. Might go back to try lunch menu."

  • "I went to Tano's with my wife. The staff was very professional and worked to make sure all of our needs were met. I had the Talapia and my wife had the pork chop and we both had the house salad. The salad had all of the elements that I look for in a, the greens were fresh, there were dried cranberry's for an element of sweetness and feta cheese. With the salad they served bread which was warm but there was not much flavor and the slices were small. The fish was a perfect diner portion and was cooked perfectly. For the most part the flavors were great with capers, butter and lemon except for a couple of bites, which had too much lemon. When full, Tano's is very loud which made it hard to talk. Overall a great meal and a great time."

  • "Our Out to Lunch group had a wonderful time here AGAIN! Our food was delicious, the favorite of the table seemed to be the Tano Veggie Wrap/so house salad plate. Some of us splurged and shared the Tano Sundae-WOW! Thank God it was Fat Tuesday so we didn't feel guilty. We will definitely be back!"

  • "There's something about restaurants where the Owner is the Chef, and what ever it is, it's all good! For example: I generally don't like spinach, but Tano's pork belly fried spinach is to die for."

  • "Finally a nice Friday night to end our winter blahs. We had the special Valentine menu which was yummy. Steak and pork chop were good but it was the sweet potatoes that made the evening! And the popcorn pots de creme....oh my! Did not want to share. Amanda took great care of us. We'll be back soon."

  • "This was our second time at Tano. The atmosphere is great; romantic, quiet, and relaxed. We ordered the Valentines' Day special which provided a ton of food at a great price. Our server checked on us throughout the night. Very happy that this little treasure is so close to us!"

  • "Another home run for Tano's! The party we dined with took advantage of the $75 dinner for two special for Valentines Day month. They enjoyed their steaks. My wife had the scallops, and I had the Amberjack fish special. Outstanding! Billie was our server (per our request...) and even though they only had two people for the entire dining room, you wouldn't have known. As always had the flourless chocolate torte for dessert to end another great dining experience. I will miss going to Tano Bistro with these friends, as they are leaving town. However, we will visit again, as this is our favorite place. Looking forward to the new menu soon!"

  • "We went for my birthday . They had a special for Feb. which is what drew us in to try it. We were hesitate due to the fact the wine that came with the 3 course meal we had never had and we can be a little snobby on the wine. It was terrific! The food was excellent and like I said the only compliant I could have at all was the wait time on the main entree but I think something was going on in the kitchen out of the ordinary. Parking in this small town can be a challenge on a Saturday night I am sure it's even more so in the summer. We are excited to go back my husband wants to try the short ribs. They have outdoor seating so we will be back in the summer for sure."

  • "My husband and I dined at Tano's over the weekend and had a wonderful experience... Great atmosphere and energy...and yet still cozy. The food was just perfect. Our server was very attentive and thoughtful - helped us navigate the menu since it was our first visit. We will definitely be back..."

  • "Everything about the evening was great, except for something that the restaurant likely does not control. I am handicapped - cannot walk without a cane or other assistance, Parking is not convenient and worse than that the city did not take care of snow piled at crosswalks. It was extremely difficult - aka dangerous - trying to get onto the sidewalk."

  • "One of the best restaurant meals I've had in a long time. Dishes were imaginative w/o being odd or unusual. Good presentation and very delicious. I'd go back in a heartbeat & recommend to friends."

  • "Tano Bistro is a pleasant neighborhood gem with friendly staff and a reasonable selection of entrees. Our meal was good, but that was it. It wasn't great. The flatbread was very tasty and I recommend it. The entrees were well prepared but we felt that in an effort to create a great dish, too many ingredients were added and that distracted from a crisp, clear taste. The sundae dessert, in particular, just had too much going on and lacked sophistication. We had a nice meal but would not drive out of our way to return."

  • "Great food! Willing to accommodate any request. Staff was genuinely interested in making the meal and time enjoyable. Historic building and upscale in decor. Well loved by locals. A place to come time and again!"
