A word from Tango
Tango Restaurant and Lounge serves Latin inspired cuisine and cocktails in a fun, sophisticated 1908 brick building on the cusp of Capitol Hill. From the Tango front door it is just a short walk to the Convention Center, Paramount Theater and ACT Theater. Tango is a family owned restaurant that prides itself on great paella, ceviche and mojitos.

  • "Visited Tango for a special occasion and to try their paella; one of the few restaurants that offers this. Tango has great tables with window views for first rate people watching as Capitol Hill residents and visitors pass by. The food was great, particularly the tapas we had while waiting the customary hour for the paella. The paella came in about an hour and 15 minutes. It was tasty although a bit dry. I was surprised that the lack of vegetables mixed with the rice. I always thought that paella came at least with peas mixed in but nope, just rice with seafood on top. Good but the quality has slipped since the departure of Chef Daniel. Even still, I would return and order the same dish. There's a lot to like about this restaurant."

  • "Our first time at Tango was a real pleasure. From the moment we walked in the host was gracious and welcoming. He seemed pleased that we were there. The service was exceptional. Our server was wonderful -- attentive but not hovering, gave great suggestions for food and drink, she paced our meal perfectly so we had just the right amount of time between courses. The full cheese plate was a nice way to begin with our drinks, with clearly fresh and well made and thought out cheese choices. The Bistec a la Parilla was prepared and seasoned just right as were all the other dishes. The sangria was very nice and was too easy to drink. I have already recommended Tango to a friend and I am looking forward to coming back for Paella."

  • "I went their for their Seattle Restaurant Week menu, and this is the smallest amount of food I ever seen. I have only 2 bacon dates for Appetizers, 3 Scallops for entree, and a chocolate cake for dessert. I could understand some restaurants still want to make profits from their restaurant week menu, but seriously? That's the amount you want to give to your customer? I think Restaurant week is helping the place to attract more customers, so you guys should even care more about the quality and quantity of food. The taste of food is just okay. If you care more about making more money from Restaurant week then sharing your food with potential customers. Please don't join Restaurant Week anymore! I would not go to this place anymore."

  • "The location was excellent, service was great and the paired wines perfectly matched! But the food was out of this world! From the just barely "well done" bistec that was perfect and tasted amazing to the bacon wrapped dates and the Harissa green beans, our group of four couldn't get enough. And finally the desert was unbelievably flavorful! I'm not a dessert kind of guy at all, but you must try the "El Diablo" chocolate dessert before you die. It's to die for!! Seriously!"

We ordered the delicious cheap dates, anchovy toast, pulled pork, tuna stuffed peppers, scallops. Each item was savory and an excellent combinations of flavors. We particularly enjoyed the scallops and perfectly prepared. The pulled pork dish had great flavor. I had read about El Diablo dessert and WOW. It blew my mind. My husband and I planned our next visit to Tango for more as we ate El Diablo. I'd highly recommend this restaurant to people. It would be a great dinner before going to the Paramount, which is a short walk away. Finding parking is difficult."

  • "We were visiting Seattle for the weekend and chose Tango based on online reviews and its proximity to our hotel. What a find! Everything was spot on, from the lovely table in the corner by the window to the service and the food. We enjoyed all the dishes -- Spanish meatballs, croquettes, carpaccio, ceviche, mixta, Pacific cod w/romesco and kale, and arugula, blood orange salad. The El Diablo was a great way to finish -- rich, creamy, chocolately, and a bit spicy! Parking was a challenge."

The wait person mad us feel strange she only spoke to me and not my boyfriend . The starter was very good . Then after a long wait the main course came , this was such a disaster . The best way to explain the flavor is what a restroom smells like . We then had another long wait for dessert to come to the table , this was ok . We paid the bill and left with no feeling that would make us come back ."

Whenever we see shows at The Paramount Theater which is only two blocks away, we dine here. We are always warmly greeted by both host and waiter/waitress and the chef has both regular and seasonal dishes from which to feast. From tapas to dessert to drinks, we are always delighted. Whoever owns Tango knows how to consistently romance their patrons time and again. Tango is a tried and true gem. Some must-try tapas and desserts are: Tres Salchichas, assorted cheese platter, Penn Cove Mejillones, Grilled Pork Loin, Basque Cake, Espresso Flan."

  • "We wanted to try something new, & the 3 course menu was the perfect inspiration for our visit. It was so tasty! Our server Maria was perfect! We didn't feel rushed at all, she seemingly "magically" appeared when we needed something. When booking the reservation with Open Table, I asked for a quiet corner table & a small card with our names to be placed on the table. It was exactly as I had requested - a very nice touch & helped make it feel like our very own personal dining experience. The food was truly phenomenal! In closing, our server was fantastic, the food was incredible, the restaurant was very thoughtful in fulfilling my requests, & I will definitely be utilizing Open Table again. Like I said above... a wonderful experience!!"

  • "Had dinner at Tango for the first time Sunday 3/2/2014. The food was very good, from the "cheap dates" appetizer to the lamb chops I had and the scallops my date had. I had the El Diablo for dessert and she had the rum raisin bread pudding type dessert, I don't remember the name of it. Both desserts were excellent. The El Diablo deserves the attention it gets, but the rum raisin dish was very tasty too. The wine list is pretty good and the wait staff was excellent, very attentive without being pushy or intruding."

  • "Our pre-theater visit to Tango had been triggered by online recommendations that called it "very good." Our experience was "fair." First, I want to complement the staff, which was prompt, friendly, and efficient. The food, however, lacked flavor, complexity, and spice. The bacon-wrapped "Cheap Dates" (their term, not mine), Albondigas, and Lamb Chop were bland. The Crostini slices that accompanied the Queso Fundido, the best of the dishes we tried, were burned. The Cazuela a la Garbanzos was okay, but not the vegetables were not terribly hot, which was strange since they were grilled. While the location is convenient to uptown and The Paramount, if you're seeking good Tapas, I recommend you would check out other choices."

  • "Made reservations for dinner before a show at the Paramount, which is within walking distance, even in heels. The host was charming, took us to our table right away, and was promptly greeted and given water and bread by an employee. They have an excellent menu, full of fun flavors at reasonable prices. Our waitress rocked, was on top of everything, and yet did not hover. Next time, we plan on making enough time in our schedule to try the paella, as it takes about 50minutes. The smell wafting from the open kitchen was amazing!"

  • "My husband and I ate here on Valentine's Day. We decided to forego the prix fixe menu in favor of a la carte small plates. Everything was very good. I particularly liked the queso fundido, and the croquetas de papas were the ultimate tapas comfort food. But I have to especially recommend the El Diablo chocolate dessert. Amazing. I wish we had had room to try several other things, but the plates are pretty good-sized, so don't plan on having more than 2-3 per person. We're not from Seattle, so we'll have to save those for our next visit! Given that the place was PACKED, the service was good, food came out quickly (but not too), and the noise was high but not obnoxious. Our window table was great for people watching."

We spent three hours enjoying a great South American wine, seven or eight interesting and flavorful dishes, and a cozy ambience on a cold and rainy night. The bartender and waitress were excellent. A heads up - Monday night is bottle-of-wine-for-half-price night - the great South American wine was $28. Nice coincidence - we were there for dinner before a concert a block away."

  • "Very accommodating. I recommend sharing the Sangria at any great Spanish restaurant. Stuck to the tapas menu for dinner. Spent more than I bargained for, but only because the food was so deliciously good. Portions on the tapas was a bit more than I expected or maybe our eyes were too big for our stomach. Either way, I did not have a complaint about the food. Without hesitation, we split a light flan dessert, joined by a cup of hot coffee with brandy to prepare for the snowy weather. A treat of a restaurant, if you don't mind dropping some dough for some great spanish food. Ideal for a romantic evening. Haven't been to more than a couple Spanish restaurants in the Seattle area, but Tango hit the spot."
