Diner Reviews
  • "We picked this place as it was close to the Paramount. We enjoyed the tapas style of food. They were presented great, tasted wonderful, our server was great. The drinks were tasty too!"

  • "Just several weeks after being in Barcelona, we visited Seattle for a long weekend. Tango was two blocks from our downtown hotel. We were warmly greeted, were sat immediately. We got water right away, but then it took awhile to be able to order a drink and a first round of tapas. Pacing was good and the food was wonderful. The Madrid platter had a good variety. Croquetas were as good as what we had in Spain. The olive oil/lemon cake with sage sorbet was divine. Place was a bit noisy. concrete floor and wooden chairs with no footpads made a lot of noise, and the clubby dance music seemed a one-off. Service was wonderful and attentive most of the time. Had to track down our bill at the end, but isn't that kind of a European thing anyway? :)"

  • "Uninspired and poorly executed. The softshell crab shouldn't have left the kitchen, period. Service was slow. Decor is worn out."

  • "We ordered five items and only thought the ceviche was good. The paella lacked flavor. There was also a cherry pit in our dessert."

  • "Excellent spanish food. We had the paella and I was pleasently surprised by the amount of seafood. Also portion for "jamon and other cold cuts" was very generous and excellent quality."

  • "Tango!! One of our favorite restaurants in Seattle. Tapas, wine and laughter. Corner table with good friends. Our waitress was there to help, but not to interfere with our fun. If you haven't been to Tango.......I hope you dance!! Dr R"

  • "We had a group there to celebrate a bachelorette and it was a really good experience. I haven't had spanish tapas in quite a while and the food was so good. One in our group spent a year in Spain and she was even impressed. The drinks were creative and refreshing, and the server was very nice, quick and cute!"

  • "First of all, the food was GREAT! I will go back and give this place another chance because the food was that good. Our waitress had such a thick accent we couldn't understand her most of the time. It took her awhile to greet us. Then it took forever to get our drinks. Most of the time we didn't even see our waitress to flag her down. Maybe she was having an off day.....we all have them."

  • "We were very much looking forward to our first visit to Tango. We love tapas and have a favorite local place, so admittedly Tango was competing with them. Similar foods (bacon wrapped dates, tortilla) didn't make the grade. Tortilla looked great but was stone cold so back it went. Our 2nd tortilla was hot, but not as nice presentation - expect due to rushing to get it to us before our mushrooms got cold. By the way, the half order of mushrooms is more than enough for two, unless you're a mushroom-aholic. Let's see - queso fundido. Don't bother. Sad to say, our visit was disappointing on every dish. Dates, tortilla, mushrooms were okay at best. Hey, we tried, but we'll stick with our local favorite. Friendly staff."

  • "Bacon wrapped dates are quite tasty; be sure to order more than one apiece. The meal was flavorful, and served promptly. Good desserts, too. Next time we go, we will order more slowly to savor each dish."

  • "Our experience at Tango was outstanding. The food was terrific, good wine list, quality service. If you are going to the Paramount for a performance this is the place to dine. You may never go anywhere else again. Check out their website for special, very convenient and economical close by parking arrangements."

  • "We have been to Tango twice before and enjoyed our experience. This time was a big disappointment. The server had too many tables to serve and was less than cordial when asked to try the sangria. Our appetizers came quickly but we waited for our main dinner so long we were almost late to the theater. My lamb (asked for medium rare) was well done and we had to rush through dessert to get to the theater on time. We will not be returning!"

  • "My wife and I love to eat at Tango before heading down to the Paramount Theatre. Food, wine, and service are always great and the experience is a fun way to begin an evening at the Paramount Theatre. We highly recommend Tango! "

  • "We've loved Tango in the past. However, our dining this week was way below expectations. The bread and butter (which I've previously loved) tasted like it had spent several hours cut and sitting somewhere to dry out. Salad and soup were fine. The paella was really terrible. Too salty, rice was undercooked with not much saffron flavor, mussels tasted like they were cooked the day before, we would have preferred chorizo to linguica sausage. It was an unfortunate experience. "

  • "We've dined at Tango many times. Service is usually excellent and the food is great. This time, although late on a Sunday night they were far from full, we had to wait to order and for our drinks and food. One of our orders came out charred, and we were told "well, it's grilled." Have had that dish before, and grilled should not mean black. Hopefully this was a one-off, so we'll go back."

  • "What a culinary journey!!! This was one great surprise of a find on our trip to seattle. Ceviche was nice tender and retained excellent flavors without being too overwhelmed by the lemony tangy taste. The sausages were exquisitely tasty, rich with aromas and spices nicely coated with their oozing oils (all part of their deliciousness, and not too heavy). I was really hoping for morcillas in the mix of sausages or at least have it as a separate entry on the menu. The albondigas were not as great, I must admit. They were a bit too chewy and tomato-pasty. The calamari while nice and tender had too much tang but great wonderful touch with the sea beans!!! Absolutely, a great place and wonderful experience. I loved the ambience. "

  • "We ate at Tango upon the recommendation of a friend who lives in Kirkland. We weren't disappointed - the food was delicious. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. He explained the menu well, and made great recommendations. Make sure you leave room for dessert - the "El Diablo" is fantastic!"

  • "Amazing food and service! The cocktails are fantastic. This last time we finally tried the grilled beef tenderloin and our server suggested to slice it for us all to try. It was so delish. And of course...don't miss out on the El Diablo. We were giving our suggestions to the nice lady sitting next to us, waiting for her guest. There are too great many dishes for one sitting. Love me some Tango!"

  • "Good place - not the best tapas we've had. A bit overpriced. "

  • "The choices were great but overall it was a hit and miss with some of the items. The scallops were great but the Queso fundido wasn't as good. The soft shell crab could have been crispier but the avocado salad on top of it was really good."

  • "I have driven by Tango easily a hundred times, took note of it many of those passes, but just assumed it was a local dive. I was looking for a place in the neighborhood and was given the recommendation by a colleague. What an eye opener. Cozy ambiance, nice bar, great wine selection and great food. I was there for a business dinner on a Wednesday evening. We had a pretty quiet corner, the Tapas were fantastic and so was the Paella. The dinner lasted almost three hours and I enjoyed every minute of it."

  • "We were able to enjoy this gem immensely through the suggestions of our great concierge but also with the help of our wonderful waitress! It was an adventure to taste our way through the tapas selections especially enjoying the Moqueca de Peixe and Queso Fundido. Our meal was paired beautifully with the Lopez Cristobal! And to end the evening, and our final one in town, we shared the El Diablo with a wonderful dessert port wine. "

  • "We go here once or twice a year for the paella! Be prepared b/c it takes about an hr to prepare, which is fine b/c its worth it and they make it fresh!!! We love going w/ big groups and sharing the seafood and the meat paella. Wonderful wine list too! They also have wonderful tapas with great prices."

  • "Excellent choice in the Capitol Hill neighbourhood. I often find tapas menus a little confusing and hard to figure out whether you are ordering an appropriate amount of food but the waiter was very helpful and the meal was very good"

  • "This was perhaps our fourth visit to Tango but it is a place that we really like to go - well, used to like to go. With so many great places to eat in Seattle, Tango just dropped off our list after this visit. The bartender was outstanding. In fact, the staff in general was outstanding. But the food missed the mark. In particular, I was looking forward to the tortilla but it had no flavor so that really set the tone for the evening. The queso fundido was rubbery, the tomato and strawberry salad was mostly good but there were a few bad tomatoes (which stands out in a dish with two primary ingredients), the cheap date was oddly mushy in texture, and the tuna ceviche was fine. "

  • "We stopped by after an event at the Paramount, after confirming availability on Open Table. We were seated after just a 5-minute wait which was great since our Open Table reservation was made from 1/2 a block away and we were early. Our server wasn't very enthusiastic and didn't give us any drink or tapas recommendations. Generally the food was very good but nothing was very memorable. I'd like to try their paella because I have heard for years that it is excellent. For the bland service and forgetful food, I give it 3 stars in the belief that another experience will be more tasteful and memorable. "

  • "We've been going to Tango for years, normally as our restaurant-of-choice when we're seeing a performance at the Paramount. This past week was another exceptional experience. Our son and daughter-in-law joined us and said afterwards, "that was some of the best customer service we've ever had." Loved, loved, loved the Moqueca entree. Didn't even want dessert, because I didn't want that taste to leave my mouth. Fun, casual place with really good food and really good service. "

  • "Appetizers - bacon wrapped dates superb, blue cheese soufflé good. Dinner - shellfish soup good, but coconut not evident in broth. Filet with potatoes and sauce outstanding. A very nice dinner and great service during Restaurant Week prior to Little Shop of Horrors at Act theater."

  • "Six of us dined during the Seattle Restaurant Week and ordered seafood, pork, and beef. All dishes were really good. The appetizers were a bit small but very tasty. The El Diablo dessert was absolutely delicious, but servers might warn customers that the cayenne is dusted on top of the dessert so that diners are prepared when they eat it."

  • "Visited Tango for a special occasion and to try their paella; one of the few restaurants that offers this. Tango has great tables with window views for first rate people watching as Capitol Hill residents and visitors pass by. The food was great, particularly the tapas we had while waiting the customary hour for the paella. The paella came in about an hour and 15 minutes. It was tasty although a bit dry. I was surprised that the lack of vegetables mixed with the rice. I always thought that paella came at least with peas mixed in but nope, just rice with seafood on top. Good but the quality has slipped since the departure of Chef Daniel. Even still, I would return and order the same dish. There's a lot to like about this restaurant."

  • "We wanted to take advantage of restaurant week and try new places, one being a Spanish restaurant. We were not disappointed with Tango. We will definitely be going back to try their paella."

  • "Our first time at Tango was a real pleasure. From the moment we walked in the host was gracious and welcoming. He seemed pleased that we were there. The service was exceptional. Our server was wonderful -- attentive but not hovering, gave great suggestions for food and drink, she paced our meal perfectly so we had just the right amount of time between courses. The full cheese plate was a nice way to begin with our drinks, with clearly fresh and well made and thought out cheese choices. The Bistec a la Parilla was prepared and seasoned just right as were all the other dishes. The sangria was very nice and was too easy to drink. I have already recommended Tango to a friend and I am looking forward to coming back for Paella."

  • "I went their for their Seattle Restaurant Week menu, and this is the smallest amount of food I ever seen. I have only 2 bacon dates for Appetizers, 3 Scallops for entree, and a chocolate cake for dessert. I could understand some restaurants still want to make profits from their restaurant week menu, but seriously? That's the amount you want to give to your customer? I think Restaurant week is helping the place to attract more customers, so you guys should even care more about the quality and quantity of food. The taste of food is just okay. If you care more about making more money from Restaurant week then sharing your food with potential customers. Please don't join Restaurant Week anymore! I would not go to this place anymore."

  • "We chose Tango as a pre-show dinner because it was near the theater. From the moment we walked in, I knew this would be a nice experience. Everything about this establishment is great. The ambiance, the food, the staff, the service. Creative and wonderfully delicious tapas. We asked our server for her recommendations and were not disappointed! Great overall experience and I will return!"
