Diner Reviews
  • "Food was grea but perhaps a little less warm than it should have been. Our server (Stephanie) was terrific but another staff member was a little too enthusiastic in clearing dishes without asking if we were even finished with them...we weren't. The dishes we're simply whisked off the table without a word and she was gone before we could even object. In fairness all that was left was some sauce and a few small pieces but she should have asked. The drinks were nice, the food was good, the atmosphere pleasant and never felt remotely rushed (other than the described incident). I will go again."

  • "A tapas style restaurant. Great Sunday special for $20, with three courses."

  • "The food was excellent, the service was right on point. The manager in duty was more than willing to help bring out food and help with anything we needed as our server was quite busy. Been there once now but I will be going several more times. The quality to price point of the food was real high."

  • "This is not great dining but it is fun and pretty good value. The menu is somewhat confusing but our server did help us along. Our choices arrived helter skelter which was OK but somehow didn't enhance the overall experience. The Margherita pizza was limp and the crust needed another two minutes in the oven. The scallops were perfectly seared but the accompanying sauce was a bit of a mystery. Our wine glasses were never refilled- a shame when you are spending $50 on a bottle. All in all we had a decent evening, not outstanding but a worthwhile addition to South Calgary."

  • "Restaurant was very cold & even server agreed but didn't suggest moving away from air conditioning that was blasting out. As 1st timers we had to ask a lot of questions about the menu - server didn't explain up front menu is really for sharing (most all appy sizes). Too much deep fried food. Only one salad."

  • "I've been here 3 or 4 times now and not once have I seen the same menu, which I love. They are always preparing quality dishes out of the current season's ingredients. Always a recommendation of mine."

  • "The food was excellent, the service was very good as well. Parking is a bit painful though. Make sure to get a bunch of different plates of food, makes it more interesting to try a few other meals. Easy to share with others you are with as well."

  • "It's not often my wife and I enjoy a date night. Tango was and excellent place to go. It was our first time and the food and service was excellent. We look forward to future visits. Peter"

  • "Love the concept of ordering several small dishes and share. The food was great. Unfortunately we did not like the choice and the noise level of the music they played. The place was relatively empty, the music was very loud. Too bad, because it really spoiled the overall experience at Tango Bistro."

  • "We went to the Tango Bistro for Father's Day and it was a wonderful choice. Going with family and ordering dishes that we all shared! It was a great way to celebrate. The food is excellent and the service top notch."

  • "As usual, the food at Tango was fantastic. Look forward to going there every time - you know everything on the menu is going to be outstanding!"

  • "I felt like I was in a cafeteria designed in the 70s. The restaurant was significantly empty for the entire evening, yet we were seated facing the front door and right beside the kitchen. Food is good, set up to share. Wine by the glass is overpriced. First time - will not return."

  • "We frequent Tango Bistro maybe once a month. It is consistent: nice selection, great service, great taste and great prices. It is a go to gem when you're looking for variety, smaller meals, tapas and nice wine in a pleasant atmosphere."

  • "Went here for a group birthday dinner. The one thing we struggled with was the inconsistency in the size of the dishes. One plate would be plenty for five, another only for a couple sort of thing. You just didn't know how much was for how many. Definitely needed more crostini/bread with each dish. We ordered the cheese board and had WAY too much cheese left and nothing to put it with. Same with the brie. The taste of the food was great, there was nothing we didn't enjoy. Service was definitely decent. A few 'lulls' in seeing our server, but he was good. I think we expected it to be a bit more 'dim' and lively, but that didn't take away from the evening. I think we would go most likely try it again. "

  • "This is a great spot yo reconnect with friends. Our server was super patient as we chatted and forgot the menu. The food was good and we ordered way more than we could eat for a reasonable price."

  • "The "small plate" format is great -- we enjoyed the "business lunch" but ate too much! Food was excellent. "

  • "The Sunday Dinner 3 course special is great for both for value and quality. Noise level was great as we could actually carry on a conversation without yelling. Service from Derek was exceptional. All of Derek's recommendations were bang on. This was our first visit but we will go back."

  • "Tango Bistro is consistent in providing a good dining experience. Friendly, not pretentious, well lit, and spacious, it is a place to enjoy food. My favourite dish at the moment: wonton crusted prawns. In addition to the wide variety of dinner items to suit many tastes, I have to mention the wonderful dessert shotglasses. Not wishing to spend a lot on dessert, and most likely running out of room for dessert after sampling so many menu items? It's the perfect end to the meal. Bring some friends, share some food, and be orepared to smile. Perhaps wear loose clothing. You might need that."

  • "Sunday dinner is a good time to take the kids if you're craving Tango! We had the lamb, arctic char, and Chicken Cordon Bleu - all were good. The kids actually get a better dessert than the adults (build your own gelato sundae) but because it was Mother's Day, my kids shared with me :) Service was incredibly slow due to training new staff, but overall good."

  • "I have been there couple times and I enjoy it every time. Tapas are my favorite as you can try a little bit of many of their foods without getting yourself stuffed. I loved their chickpeas poutine. My favorite. Also liked baked brie with maple and pecans. Music was little too loud but other then that I liked it."

  • "First time visit-celebrating a big number anniversary-and happy enough we purchased $200worth of gift certificates to pass on. Decent wine/beer list, good selection of tapas and the sticky bread pudding made for a sweet finish."

  • "Portion sizes of the entrees were all over the map. We have a party of four and two of the meals were large and filling where are the others were tiny and more deserving of being appetizers. The gnocchi was bland and without its sauce not particularly enjoyable. The place had some kind of techno/dupstep music cranked up while we were there that basically flooded out any ambiance of the place and made it unpleasant. It's really too bad as their Sunday brunches are amongst the best I've had in Calgary."

  • "If you are looking for a great tapas experience, look no further than Tango! Great food, drinks and service are always on the menu here!"

  • "The staff and management were very friendly and were a great resource for offering suggestions to this first time customer. The food was very nicely plated and full of flavour. The Yam Wedge Poutine was a bit on salty side, but all our other selections were very good. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable evening. The only downside was that we had reservations for 6:30 on a Saturday night and it took quite some time to find a parking spot."

  • "I've been to tango for a business lunch and enjoyed it very much. I went back for dinner with family and friends and it was too noisy, the food was highly mediocre and the service less than stellar."

  • "We came here on a whim one evening having heard good things about the place from a friend. Since then we have been back three times averaging about every two weeks. Yes, I'd say it's very good! I'm not big on repeat offenders, I like variety, but this place is a gem and really very good value! The wait staff are very friendly and honest :-) Good quality all around and a nice atmosphere. I love the tapas idea; it allows me to have several things in a siting to satisfy my pallet. I highly recommend the "Layer Cake" Australian Red to accompany your tapas experience. Try the wild mushroom soup, it is amazing!! I cannot go without ;-) It has become a regular place to visit. "

  • "I only checked the brunch box, as I have only been to Tango Bistro twice .. both times for lunch. I love the idea of your "businessmans lunch" menu. The choices are perfect, and just the right amount. The price is so reasonable, andthe food is so good, that you want to keep coming back. My friend and I are coming back in May. Reservation is already booked. "

  • "The staff was very friendly and the menu selection was great. It is a great place to share a dining experience with friends. I went for my birthday and had an amazing time. I will definitely be back in the future to try the rest of the menu."

  • "1st time going to Tango Bistro, and overall, we really enjoyed it. Kids got a huge kick out of the table-side smores for dessert. We were there on a Tuesday evening, and it was very quiet. We were the last group remaining when we left. "

  • "Who knew that so many strange foods and combinations would be so delicious? Especially loved the prawns, the beet fries (bizarre), the pork belly sliders (awful name for an amazing taste experience.) This is a place you visit often until you've been able to sample the entire menu many times. Clearly an excellent chef preparing this food. Only complaint? The loud woman at the next table and the fact that the "sirloin" was extremely tough and fibrous even though it had been perfectly cooked. We will definitely be back to Tango."

  • "The backstory - we are five working mothers who have known each other for almost 12 years. We meet for dinner once or twice a year and the last four or five years have been at Tango Bistro. The food is excellent - we've been known to order more than one poutine - especially if someone is pregnant! The salads are fantasitic and the sharing plates are the perfect size, but can be modified for more servings. The service is excellent - have never had a less than stellar server in our many visits We throughly enjoy our nights out."

  • "I really like the option of the 3 part lunch menu but find that the soup is, most times, not hot enough. This is the second occasion where, with the same friend, our main course was brought to us while we were still busy with the soup course and the server was quite prepared to leave it on the table beside us. She obliged by taking it away and keeping it warm but the salad wilted. Our main server was very apologetic but this is just not good enough. Wake up Tango - what is the rush on a quiet day? Third strike and you will be out as we have many other options in Calgary."

  • "I've been to tango bistro maybe 5-6 times now. I must say I was disappointed with the food this time. We ordered the olives, oysters, beet fries, risotto, scallops and the gnocchi. My biggest complaint was with the olives, they were all pitted and hollow, and cold. I also remember the marinade tasting better. The oysters were very fresh and the scallops were also delicious. Loved the risotto but the menu advertised it as having truffle oil and I barely tasted any. The gnocchi was good, but didn't have a lot of flavour… Was expecting better. Service was better than the last time I went -- the server had taken over 30 minutes to take the empty dishes from our table, we had planned on ordering more but it was a turn off to sit around."

  • "This was our second time at Tango. The food was exquisite both times. It's perfect for an intimate date night. Our server, Janelle, is one of the best servers we have had."

  • "I enjoyed this restauraunt, however I would not recommend the cold seafood tower the seafood did not taste that fresh. The oysters and mussels left a really bad taste. The Lamb pops description made me think of ground lamb done in a meatball style like a lollipop, I was a bit disappointed when they came as chops - still delicious and the sauce was amazing! I found the best dish we had was the Trio of dips. I would go back but would try some different dishes - however I am a lot more reluctant with the seafood..."
