A word from Tanglewood Supreme
Tanglewood Supreme is a local seafood bistro that brings a "fisherman to table" experience right to each and every diner. This philosophy inspires everything we do extending well beyond seafood into how we source our meats, produce and local spirits. With an uncompromising focus on excellence, the very best purveyors that the Pacific Northwest has to offer are our partners. It is this spirit that infuses every aspect of the restaurant, from its design and ambience to service and of course, our cuisine. Whether your palate craves fresh seafood or perhaps something equally delicious from the land, join us, sit at our chef's counter or perhaps a cozy booth, and taste a delicious modern twist to a bounty that is combined with a respect for tradition. Cheers!Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Four of us had an enjoyable Friday night dinner here. Excellent service with good food and cocktails. A pleasant and fairly busy small neighborhood restaurant, with tasteful modern decor (with tables built of apparently re-purposed old wood). Nice for us to venture from our home turfs of Ballard & Wallingford up to the happening "downtown" core of Magnolia, where Tanglewood Supreme is located along with numerous other new restaurants nearby. Reservations recommended, as on busy nights looks like it fills up fast."

  • "Great food, excellent service. We will definitely be back."

  • "Down an obscure alley in Magnolia, this is a true foodie find. Chef Chappelle never disappoints. Super fresh ingredients always done with a twist. I tried an amazing new Hef beer. The goatcheese cheesecake is sophisticated, subtle and superb. Cannot wait to return."

  • "We had a lovely meal but the waiter seemed impatient rather than attentive and made a big deal about how the timing of the entire evening would be off if the one person who wanted the tasting menu selected it. The rest of us made it clear that we didn't mind waiting the two hours the tasting menu might take but he still discouraged it and was not accomodating. Then I felt rushed to order -- he came to our table to see if we were ready at least 3 times when it was obvious we were relaxed, taking our time and enjoying our wine. I'd go back because the food was great but would request a different server!"

  • "This small but cozy little restaurant is a nice addition to the neighborhood. The food is excellent with a menu that is limited to a few choices but with preparation that is far above average. The service is friendly, the server knowledgeable. Highly recommended. Next time we will try the tasting menu!"

  • "So, the power went out as we were seated. They had an emergency generator for the kitchen but no light throughout the restaurant. The wait staff was unbelievable; lit candles and proceeded to bring us a bunch of cold, non-cooked items which were all delectable. After about 45 minutes we were getting ready to head out when the lights went on! We stayed and had a fabulous dinner. It was a Valentine's Day dinner for my hubby and I and, I must say, very romantic indeed."

  • "Had a fantastic dinner here with a beautiful date. Daniel our server was attentive, kind, efficient. We did the 7 course tasting, each course was memorable, but the 6th course, scallops, was a masterpiece. It moved us to an awed silence. Only complaint - we were at a table against the wall that had a fire alarm switch right at eye level. Is didn't affect dinner, but it wasn't a very classy touch. Any way to avoid that?"

  • "Tanglewood is located in what can charitably be called a side street, but is really a large alley that runs parallel to McGraw, in the heart of Magnolia village. I make it a point to sit at the counter whenever I go to Tanglewood, because we find the chef and his sous chef enormously entertaining as they prepare the various dishes for the patrons. And that's the extent of the ambiance at Tanglewood. You decoration of any sort -- just bare, reflective walls which make the tiny room a bit loud. But the food is just excellent and never fails to please."

  • "The food was amazing and the service was wonderful. It was a bit loud for our romantic dinner, but not so loud that we couldn't enjoy ourselves. We will definitely return."

  • "My valentine will be out of town on the 14th so he took me here to celebrate early. Had the tasting menu and couldn't have been happier. Took our own special bottle of wine and it was no problem. Great value! We enjoyed 6 different types of seafood over the 7 courses. Service was excellent. Owner came out and gave us a special greeting. We will go back again. We live on the East side but it was certainly worth the trip--even in the snow!!"

  • "This was the second time we visited this bistro. We had the 7 course tasting dinner ($45) both times. It is a two hour event, but the time goes quickly because it is just a wonderful experience. Usually, your memory of an excellent meal is always better than the second time you have it. The second time we were there was just as wonderful as the first. The first time we went the restaurant was very busy and unpleasantly noisy. The second visit was on a Tuesday, we sat in a booth, and it was fine. Excellent service. I highly recommend it."

  • "Tanglewood is worth coming to Magnolia. Kent, the owner, is very engaged and makes customers feel special, so do the waiters. I like that the menu is limited, changes, and each dish is special. Thank you Tanglewood."

  • "Celebrated my brother's birthday at Tanglewood Saturday night and had a fantastic time. The happy hour small plates were delicious, the entrees were amazing (we shared bites of the salmon, the scallops, and the lamb osso buco), and the desserts were downright decadent. Service was spot on. Looking forward to returning another night to try the albacore! Reservations are a must as it's a cozy little space."

  • "Took my lady here for her Birthday and had a blast. The food was great, service was awesome and the cooks were amazing. I would definitely recommend it, we did the 7 course tasting and it was a good choice, got to sample a lot of the very fine different flavors they had to offer."

  • "This was our first time dining at this tiny restaurant. We were seated literally right at the door... the maitre d' said all the other tables were reserved for others... fine, but within 5 minutes of our being seated, two other 2-tops became available -- would have been nice to be offered a chance to wait for one of those, or even to move. The good: Nice cocktail and wine lists, and nice menu variety without being too long. The buttered potatoes with my fall-off-the-bone Lamb Osso Buco were deliciously light. The "could be better:" oysters arrived on a bed of rock salt rather than ice, and many of them were warmer than we like (and varied in temperature). The scallops were served on the cool side, and my red wine was served too warm."

  • "Albeit I only dined once and the food was fantastic, the menu didn't really pop out at me as different or unique. I went for dinner and was disappointed when the Salmon Pastrami sandwich (I read about it in an article) wasn't on the menu, most likely a lunch item. I realize it's not fair to expect each restaurant I visit to have a unique and personal menu, but nothing stood out beyond the typical 'fancy' dishes like scallops, lamb, fish etc. I just want to be clear though, the food is delicious and expertly prepared. However, there wasn't anything special (besides the sandwich) I couldn't find at another restaurant closer to where I live in Bellevue."

  • "Looking for a dining adventure? This is a fun little spot, tucked away down an alley in a chic little part of Magnolia. I brought my professional foodie friend and she loved it! We recommend the Honeystung cocktails and the chef's 7-course tasting menu. Interesting and delicious food, finely crafted, with fresh ingredients. Our table enjoyed the rutabega and apple beignets, greens with apple, cheese and nuts (salad), a scallop crudo with plantain chips, mussels and clams in white wine (with amazing root veggie frites), tuna filet in a miso broth with greens, sake poached octopus, and a fabulous warm dark chocolate cake. Wonderful evening..."

  • "Excellent choices - oysters on the half shell, mussels, pumpkin risotto, delicious house salad, tuna tartare. We enjoyed sharing several small plates and then we shared 1 entree off the dinner menu. Our entree was lamb shank and it was melt in your mouth good."

  • "My wife and I had visited here 2 times before and had horrible experiences. One thing in common - The same server... We decided one night that we'd try it again after waiting quite sometime. We went in with an open mind and definitely with the 3 strikes philosophy! Wow! This time it was a completely different story and we had a great experience. The food and service were outstanding and they give any restaurant in the Seattle area a run for their money. I travel around the world quite frequently for work and I'm so glad that we have something of this caliber only a few blocks away. We can now say "we've got a place"!"

  • "Tanglewood Supreme is a lovely, intimate restaurant tucked into a small side street in Magnolia. The dishes are innovative and artfully presented, on par or exceeding those at the other best restaurants in Seattle. My wife and I have had almost every offering on the very well-rounded menu and would recommend any of them. It's a treat to sample and share new additions or special at a quiet table, or to sit at the bar and take in the action as Chef Jeffrey Kessenich and colleagues perform their magic. Owner Kent Chappelle and Server Todd make folks feel right at home, with nice updates on the menu; you feel like a regular by the end of the first visit. With easy booking and lots of nearby parking, there's no excuse not to go!"

  • "I took my best friend here for her birthday. We both got the 7 course chef's tasting menu. It was absolutely fantastic. We liked, if not loved, every single course. Our waiter was kind and knowledgeable and at $45 the tasting menu was a steal! I have already been telling people about this place and will definitely be back."

  • "Had lovely cocktails & dinner here on a Thursday. Our first, their 2nd time. Made reservation & enjoyed our entire time here. Wsiter Daniel was fantastic. Very informative, accurate, & remembered our friends from their visit two weeks prior. Loved the citrusy salmon carpaccio, scallops, lamb, & baby lettuce salads. All, however, were delicious. Would recommend wholehartedly."

  • "It is so much fun to take guests and friends to Tanglewood for the first time. Few are aware of the restaurant and they are amazed. The food is so interesting and delicious with surprises on the menu. My favorite is to sit at the counter and watch the cooks."

  • "Altho you might think of this as primarily a seafood restaurant the non seafood dishes are also sublime. The chicken dish is superb and altho they were out of osso buco it was replaced with elk ribs that were wonderful. My mussels and clams with brussels sprouts in a pancetta broth dish was outstanding. Our foodie friends had the salmon and chicken and are ready to come back again. Tanglewood never disappoints."

  • "My wife and I are big foodies. To try a seafood restaurant with seven course for $45 with good reviews was an opportunity too good to pass up. And indeed, all seven courses were really really good. Go now before they raise the prices. It's that good. But bring your own wine. A $15 corkage is very fair and, if you choose carefully, you'll be happy."

  • "On our last evening in Seattle, we wanted delicious seafood fit for foodies. Most other places listed here are tailored for extensive foot traffic and driven by overhyped marketing campaigns. This quaint neighborhood gem caught our attention from the complementary reviews here; so, with barely 35 minutes notice, we reserved a table. The location is neatly tucked on a side street. Once inside, we chose to sit at the bar with unfettered access to the chefs. Every single dish was prepared in front of our eyes (transparency!) and they always switched out gloves when handling the raw seafood (health and safety). Their plating was clean and crisp... but the food was absolutely heavenly! The wine list perfectly compliments the options. Yum!"

  • "you would never expect to find such a gem in an alley in Magnolia but there it is and you can't miss it. A very dynamic menu that changes constantly, excellent service, open kitchen and high cuisine, elaborated with attention to detail, great ingredients and innovating technique."

  • "I am always pleasantly surprised at the consistent superb quality of my meal and interesting bar menu. I have never had a bad meal here. Their octopus appetizer is superb. I ordered chicken, which is an odd choice for a seafood restaurant but it was the most moist and delicious chicken EVER. Going again this Thur with a friend. My only complaint is that they are noi longer open for lunch."

  • "We chose this restaurant randomly on open table. I had never heard of it but based on availability (which disappeared 30 seconds after we booked our reservation) and ratings, we decided to give it a go. The location was a but strange (kind of in a small street that felt like an alley way). It is a cute, small restaurant with warm and modern décor, lighting etc. The food was great! My nephew had a 7 course tasting menu (for $45!!!) that was delicious. I had a few small courses and nibbled off his. Everything was delicious. The risotto was yum! The muscles were fantastic! The service was great throughout the almost 3 hour meal. Will definitely return."

  • "My husband and I dined at Tanglewood Supreme to celebrate our Anniversary, and it completely exceeded our expectations! It is a small gem in Magnolia, and the food is prepared with so many unique flavors and combinations. The service was extremely courteous, prompt, and knowledgeable. The ambiance is intimate but modern. You can sit at the chef's table and watch the chef cook if you like. We started our meal with the apple and rutabega beignets, which were so fresh and amazing, and the poached octopus. My husband had the scallops entree and I had the salmon - both were phenomenal and cooked to perfection. We ended the meal with the goat cheese cake. It was an amazing meal and we will definitely be dining again at this restaurant!"

  • "On business in Seattle from Denver, we are complete foodies and we found Tanglewood for a nice dinner and couldn't have had a better evening. This restaurant is simply excellent on every level. Every course we had was so expertly prepared, with great flavors. The fish was ridiculously good, I had Ling Cod and my husband has King Salmon. The owner was engaging and professional, taking care of our every need but not intrusive. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to experience fine dining in a small intimate setting."

  • "this little restaurant tucked away in magnolia village is a real find. The service was unbelievable, attentive but not hovering, friendly and informative but not overpowering - a 4-star level of service. The food was delicious as well - enough choice for the meat and vegetarians out there and guaranteed to appeal to all those foodies and lovers of a fine meal. I am raving about the place and would recommend it to everyone"
