Tangatalunch and wonderful museumWe older people enjoy museums but often need a break from standing and walking. Seeing the Bowers and then resting while having a nice lunch and then seeing more of the Bowers Museum was a perfect day. The food at Tangata is really good.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely place to eatTangata is part of the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana. It is located right across from the gift shop and looks at the beautiful museum courtyard. There are a few tables outside which provide a great setting but you can see the sky through the glass ceiling even if you are sitting inside. The service is thoughtful and the food is tasteful.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent, theThe food was excellent, the server great--professional, friendly and efficient. Everything was prepared fresh, the presentation was wonderful and the tastes were awesome. We had the brushetta for appetizer, my hubby had the lamb and I had the spaghetti with manila clams. My hubby said that the lamb there was the best he's ever tasted and my spaghetti was perfect too. Our desserts were wonderful as well. Terri this restaurant, you will not be disappointed!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGREAT!This is a great place for lunch. We always make it part of our Bowers experience. The menu is excelent, and tying a couple items to exhibits is a fun touch. The service is friendly and professional, but this wouldn't matter if the food wasn't so good. My husband loves the compressed salad and I trust the chef to get my burger exactly as I like it5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed a quiet lunch on Thursday,Enjoyed a quiet lunch on Thursday, the 16th of May. The sliced beet, goat cheese appetizer was excellent and well displayed. We enjoyed the ravioli as well as the salmon. THe creme brulee and the apple tart complimented a fine lunch.

Awesome mushroom ravioli!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch on 4/27/13 was the firstLunch on 4/27/13 was the first time for us to eat at Tangata (there were 3 in my party). The restaurant was pretty crowded that day as there was a Bead Society show/sale in the courtyard and the Lucy exhibition was ending that weekend. In spite of all that, we were treated courteously and served promptly. I only ate a portion of my lunch, but my friends ate all of theirs. We all had creme brulee for our treat and it was very good. All in all it was an enjoyable experience.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMPart of museum experienceGreat restaurant for the museum experience. Loved taking a break from visiting the exhibits to have an interesting, well-prepared meal. Would recommend this for anyone spending the day at the Bowers Museum.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe entire experience, MuseumThe entire experience, Museum and outdoor dining was wonderful.
We have been here for two very beautiful weddings before.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was a very busy SaturdayIt was a very busy Saturday @ the Bowers Museum, where Tangata is located, but the food was fabulous, the staff was curtious, friendly and extremely patient with the large crowd trying to eat. Fortunately, I'd made a reservation ahead and was seated a few minutes early when I checked in. Outside table was great with comfortable temperature, great people watching, and efficient and not rushed wait service. A most enjoyable experience and I highly recommend a day @ the Museum and a wonderful lunch!!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second time diningThis was our second time dining at Tangata and it was as good as the first. We love the menu choices which had changed from our first visit and it was fun to see new offerings. So many selections to choose from! We had a delightful appetizer followed by delicious entrees. Dessert was yummy as well. We were able to sit outside on the patio with a lovely view of the garden. The weather was perfect and we were happy to be outside. Our server was excellent, took great care of us, and kept the refreshing tropical iced tea glasses full It's great when you can visit the museum and see three interesting exhibits and pair it with a relaxing and delicious lunch. We look forward to the next visit!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Tangata, one of the PatinaThe Tangata, one of the Patina Group, is located at the Boweers Museum. (My daughter also had her wedding here, catered by Tangata.) The food is interesting and always excellent. It is a far cry from the restaurants or cafes you find at some museums. I highly recommend it.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGive your review a title (optional)Everyone from hostess to reservation receptionist, to beverage server, the waiter, and all support staff were, happy, gracious, very accommodating, and made our visit a wonderful experience. Lovely way to end our viewing of the Medici Gems Exhibit. The BlueCrab Cakes are the best West of Maryland. Hubby had The Renaissance Buger and delicously complex. I had The WildMushroom Ravioli with WhiteTruffle sauce...OUTSTANDING! I am still thinking about it 4 days later.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been to Tangata severalI've been to Tangata several times and have always found it to be enjoyable. The food, service and ambience have never disappointed me. We always enjoy combining our trips to the Bowers Museum with lunch at Tangata.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to Tangata becauseWe went to Tangata because we were going to see an exhibit at Bowers Museum, of which it is a part. We dined on the patio and that was lovely. I had eaten there twice before and was very impressed. However, this time, my husband and I shared and panzanella salad, which was mediocre, and the lamb entree. The lamb was not very tender and had some grizzle. For dessert, we share the mango sorbet, which was outstanding. The staff was very accommodating, friendly and professional. I think we just hit an off day because, as I said, the prior two visits were very impressive. I would still recommend Tangata to anyone going to the museum.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Crab Cakes and the BurgerThe Crab Cakes and the Burger were delicious. Particularly good were the rosemary-garlic fries. Only one problem, no chocolate for dessert! Need to have at least one chocolate choice! In all, a very satisfying part of a trip to Orange County.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA good experience except:A good experience except: a "medium" burger turned out to be bone-dry. Also not enough servers, hard to get more water, to get a desired condiment, to get the check.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat staff; eager to please.Great staff; eager to please. Glad to see the menu was different from my February visit. The panna cotta was terrific with the sweet-sourness of the kumquats. Enjoyed the earthy wild mushroom ravioli except for the very salty garnish. Was happy to introduce a friend to Tangata and the Bowers Museum at the same time. It's worth the drive from Long Beach.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for lunch and then toGreat for lunch and then to the exhibits at the Bowers Museum.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWait staff was very professionalWait staff was very professional and yet personal and friendly, they were able to adjust offerings for food allergies, the room was immaculate and the patio was warm on a chilly day.
